It's interesting to see the UA-cam experts criticize the cop here. In reality, she showed up in 15 minutes for a lost dog. A big Malinois jumped at her face the moment she arrived. She knew the area well enough to find the owner of the dog without any tags or scans in less than an hour. I don't see how she could have done this call any better.

Yeh that was a very reasonable thing to say by her, if a dog has a tendency to jump at people they really should not be off leash in public, that’s just a recipe for disaster

Buddy you could post a video of a cop bringing back a man's wallet he lost to his house along with some extra money from the fellas at the precinct to help the man through the holidays and UA-cam people will comment on how the police shouldn't be wasting tax dollars doing that while "people are being murdered".

😂 that cop shows up to get a lost dog after you’ve been handling the lost GSD and 3 of your own dogs and her first words are “um, that dog needs to be on a leash”
My first words would’ve been “you’re fucking joking right”

Yes because the dog was off leash the right thing to do was to have the dog sit while the office approach. Not allow him to go to her no matter how nice he was.
So yes she need to let her know bad manners. No leash have control of your dog.

I think you just solved so many problems for me. I'm a first time (GSD) dog owner and my dog does a lot of that insistent sniffing and I was thinking the only reason he was getting other dogs at the park wanting to bite him was that he was in tact... I had no idea that sniffing was a prelude to humping & a way to test the waters. I tried to read and watch UA-cam dog videos to learn about dogs when I got him, but this video was more helpful than most of the videos I've seen. Thank you for detailing how dogs interact when meeting other dogs.

@@iamaced479 you would be surprised how some GSD escape. Have you ever seen a fox or cat climb a fence? We had a GSD in a GSD club who could climb a fence that easily, the owner eventually contained it by buying a smaller dog who couldn't climb the fence lol 😅
We also had an extra one appear in our back yard once it just dug under the fence to play with ours.
So unless you cement a dog run in with a roof they can probably get out or in of most places.

That wasn’t animal control. It was just a random officer that had zero idea what she was doing. She did SO many things wrong.
      - Approached with an “I know better than thou” attitude.
      - Presumed the GSD to be aggressive even after the guy told her “I know for a fact he’s friendly.”
      - She treated Ronin like he was just going to listen to her lame, lazy commands. I’m glad he showed her up by telling Ronin calmly to sit.

Really appreciated how every one handled the lost GSD. Your descriptions really helped set the scene. People tend to walk to the other side of the street as i am walking my GSD Thor on leash. Not because he does anything to make them, he is just so big. On the flip side when I go down streets where people know him kids come running out to pet him, and people actually bring out dog treats for him. lol.

Finally, a human who reads body language!!!
During a potentially tense time, a man gets right up too close to 4 large dogs and you with bike and leashes and he adds a trigger to the interaction. He’s not backing off, staying quiet and respecting or even noticing body language. 🙄😬

She tells you your dog has to be on a leash lol...the stray was on it 🤣 You did a great job, and so did the guy who helped. Heck, he even took a tumble in the snow on his way to work so he could help out. haha...anyway, beautiful dogs - all of them!

LOL, "dominate" Belgian Malinois. There's that human ego, applying it to his dog. The Belgian was very disciplined and not over-aggressive, same as the GSD. They thought before acting.
