In practice that’s about a nickel size of sunscreen to the face alone, which isn’t that much. Most doctors recommend about 1/3 to 1/2 of a teaspoon for the face and neck. An entire tablespoon of sunscreen is a lot of sunscreen for only your face.

Layering might work for some people, but as long as you're applying 1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen to your face (additional sunscreen for ears, neck, chest and hands), you should get the protection you need. If you're in direct sunlight you need to reapply every 2 hours, or if you sweat alot or swim.

Better to layer your spf instead of trying to put it all on at once.
