  • Over forty years since the emergence of HIV, the 1 in 48 people in Baltimore City living with HIV continue to feel the impacts of the diagnosis in many areas of their lives. Students in this clinic address these impacts through a wide range of both litigation and non-litigation matters such as SSI/Social Security disability benefits, custody, employment discrimination, advance care planning and medical decision-making (preparing medical advance directives, simple wills, and powers of attorney), and legal name change for transgender clients.
Each year, 25 faculty lead 250 students in providing 140,000 hours of free legal services to the community, making the Clinical Law Program one of the region's largest public interest firms. The Program allows students to work alongside faculty members on real-life cases, and gain a unique combination of theoretical study and practical experience that prepares them to hit the ground running in their legal careers.
