Great video! I sailed the heck out of Ruby in MdR back in the day with Jeff and Frank....and sometimes Skip when there was a big series...

you guys are absolutely killing it on these videos! Lot of people commented on Webb Chiles, and while his journey was spectacular, the Moore has so much other incredible history as well. Maybe a spin off of the retro boat videos will be little mini-documentaries that focus more on the actual accomplishments and history left of certain boats, and not just of the boats themselves... just a thought. Loving these videos guys, keep it up! Yewww!!!
On another thought, Webb did some sailing on an Ericson 35 if i recall correctly. Pretty sure some guy at SA bought one of those too.

Scott, I love you, I love that rippin trumpet in the beginning, you could make log cabins sound sick! I really appreciate your passion about boats, your knowledge, and your desire to capture and disseminate the information you have in your head. Thank you also the taking the time to create edit and post your videos, we all know it's time consuming!

When I was a teen in Northern California, I devoured every issue of Latitude 38. At that time, right around 1980, it was all about the Moore 24, Express 27, Olson 30. To this day, I want a Moore 24.

I sailed on a Moore 24 back in the 1980's. That boat had the sweetest helm I have ever held. Should have bought it when it came available. Around $17,000 or so at the time.

I had hull #12 for a while. Just a great boat; really nice motion through the water. And it was cheap to keep on the hard, rigged, at Alameda marina.

My Cuz, and I cross the Atlantic in January in the Moore 24, surfing down, 80 foot swells, ride to the bottom, bury the nose, then shoot back up the top the way to do it again,🥳 average, 240 miles a day, got my first and only hemorrhoid😳 try pooping off the back while hauling ass🤙🏻 mark the shark🦈🖖🏻

Thanks. The spray off that bow at about 9 minutes means to me (a kayaker) two things: feels like you're really moving, but you aren't. (I tested a bunch of different kayaks one day. The Greenland hull kayaks kicked up waves like your Moore, wee! but the straighter bows which seemed to be doing nothing at all were 1.5 - 2 knots faster. )
Still pretty cool. I'm looking to get something small that might fit on a trailer which I can learn how to sail on, before moving up to cruising. I'm not sure about this boat. I might not want to move up, it might be too much fun.

Sailed Saltshaker in 80's SB to King Harbor in 30 plus full spin and main figured doing 20 knots for a hour or so till rounded up. Pegged the 12 knot speedo with just main when sorting out the fire drill. We were blowing thru 10' swells. Peter Stewart the Aussy was driving. Saltshaker was glass with the most beautiful white cedar and red mahagany deck on the shear, no reverse. The best built boat I ever saw in 20 years in the boat business. It is faster than waves when the wolves are howling

That’s now coming off the bow but back at the shrouds, aka boat is on a full plane. I would guess they were in 25 tws and a 14 plus knots of bsp when that vid was taken. I have some video of us finishing coastal cup the year before looks about the same.

The offshore-worthy version of the Moore 24 looks like good fun as well in this video: ua-cam.com/video/b9iPLKpwPyo/v-deo.html
Single-handed Transpac on such a lightweight boat sounds like a proper challenge.
Still the way how they force-widened the shape of the boat to become asymmetrical somehow would make every German engineer's brain explode instantaneously.
