West Virginia's scenic beauty and close-knit communities make it one of the best places to live in the US.

Was hoping to see Grafton but since it sits between Morgantown and Bridgeport I guess it's represented .... Leaving the Rocky Mountains for the hills of West Virginia after 40 years of separation

My husband is 67 and retired. Im 56 and disabled. We didnt plan on the disabily thing happening, but like jas a way of lifeING you 😊 We have lived a very rural life in ohio since 1997..3 years till our home is paid off. Bit with the prices of houses in ohio right now o an ready to cash in! Its too jatd making that house payment every month between his retirement and my disability. I like living to rural life, with dirt bikes, buggys and 4 wheelers...but i also like to be withing 45 minite driveb to fine dining, arts, concerts and museums. Im 45 minutes outside of columbus now, so keeping par with that would be good. We jave custody of two great nieces and a great nephew ages 7, 9, and 10...so the schooing is most definitely at the top of our list. And second on the list is diversity. We are a large blended family and i would probanly expect lots of family will be coming to visit theoughout thebyear and holodays . Third on our list would be lots of options for outdoor activities . Hiking, biking, tubing, whitewater rafting , snow tubing etc...for my husband and i we like the mom and pop styple restaurants, a nice steakhouse and/or seafood resturaunt, with cocktail srinks with funky names and delicious tasting.
Whew, i know that was a long post just for me to get around to this question, Is there any place you recommend? ❤❤

Just got back. I’m from Florida the central part and I’m in my mid 30s.. we went to Morgantown, Fairmont and Clarksburg. I was pleasantly surprised I’ve been traveling the last two years, mostly southern states and this was a really good mix. It was quiet and people were very kind. Definitely on the top of my list I’m looking.

I've never really thought of Teays Valley as being a mountainous town, at least as compared to Elkins or the Davis/Thomas area.

No, I’m in my 40’s, born and raised in WV and pepperoni rolls are most certainly a WV staple. My grandparents talked about their popularity in the 30’s. There are restaurants in a lot of places in WV centered around them. However, I completely agree, I have been to every city and larger township in WV and only heard of fried ravioli once. That one must be very isolated.

I've been eating pepperoni rolls for 40 years. I've never heard of fried ravioli. I might try it though.

This list is extremely inaccurate. The “facts” and numbers are very very outdated. WV is one of the very few states the population is declining, drugs are rampant, jobs are very scarce, and most of the state is dilapidated and falling apart. The “country” is beautiful and top notch, however if you are not a chemical operator and “know somebody” work is hard to come by. The worst part is the massive drug problem. Every major city there is crawling with “cracked out” dead beats. I’m not trying to be rude, but I have watched my great state decline to almost an unrecognizable place. And the prices…..just no. The cost of living to income ratio is horrendous. WV is a wonderful place to visit, but the “new” wears off quickly when you actually live there.

Please tell us about the thing, not “the fact” of the thing. It is quite possible to write a script without ever having to use “the fact.” Also, lose the robot voice. At least the information is interesting.
