Matilda was the first book I picked myself when I was around 8. I related to Matilda so much - a huge bookworm, regularly bullied (althought by other kids, not adults) and got angry and desired to get even, regardless of all the adults who just told me to roll with it - Both the book and the movie has a special place in my heart, and actually got teary eyed once or twice while watcing the musical
Matilda was one of my favorite stories growing up, I loved both the book and the movie. Thank you for making this video it was very enjoyable to watch!!
Matilda isn’t one of my favorites of Dahl’s but I still like it. I don’t know if Dahl himself would’ve or wouldn’t of liked the movie since it came out six years after his death. He might’ve hated the American setting considering the book was set in England. Danny DeVito is great as Harry Wormwood and Pam Ferris is great as the Trunchbull.
Well, to be fair, most Roald Dahl movies are set in American settings, despite the author being British. Plus, Dahl himself was never too fond of adaptations of his books, except for Cosgrove Hall's animated BFG movie.
As much as i loved this movie growing up. I can see some flaws with it now. I think the problem is the TONE of it is very "Fantasy child fun wonder world" when in reality it should focus more on the grim parts of society, abuse pattern and overall overcoming them. Just me though, i know its technically a childrens story, but i feel you can still make it apply in a family film in someway.
Thanks for watching! I did mention this around 15:20; in the book when Matilda’s powers stop working Miss Honey’s theory is that her mind is too busy being properly challenged with her schoolwork. 👍🏼

Thank you so much
I love matilda because, even tho its a childrens book, its very dark and it has a dark meaning. (Sorry for my bad english)
Miss Honey in the book living conditions sounds more plausible for some reason

@@worthybutter2004 I know that. He also liked Danny the Champion of the World which coincidentally came out the same year as The BFG.
@@huntercoleman460 Oh right, i see.
Can you see the differences between either the BFG or James and the giant peach
Both are on my list. I actually have some notes ready for BFG; just need to carve out some time & get it done.
Ok so do you think you have a date?

I don't know, if a reading age exist in the state, but these are way above I would read.
Good job! But you left a very important part out. In the books Matilda loses her powers because she isn't frustrated anymore
