- The extended theme from the Two Of Us with a few pics thrown in!. This has to be my favourite telly tune ever. A lovely show as well. Recently found out this track is available to download at www.film&tvthemes.com.

Absolutely loved this back in the day, and the theme tune is amazing 👏
Loved this show when I was very young. ❤
What an incredibly uplifting piece of music!
Rod argent and Peter van hook composed this as did they compose Aztec gold. The theme for the itv 1986 Mexico world cup theme. Notice any similarities
Enjoyed this the first time round. Janet Dibley is gorgeous! Managed to get Series 1 on DVD and waiting for Series 2. Classic sitcom.
It's brilliant to be able to hear this theme tune in its entirety as, of course, you only get a short spurt when watching the series. Very uplifting! Well done to whoever composed it - and looking forward to watching the first series again once the DVD arrives!
Loved this show.Friday nights as a kid.Memories.
Another happy-sad tune from the 80's (kind of like Howards Way and the Littlest Hobo). I love that though as I can never make up my mind whether I'm happy or sad 😀
Fond memories of being at my Grandparent's house on a Friday night as a teenager watching this. Everyone is dead and buried now; so again happy-sad memories 💔
Me and my mom loved watching this was a great programme
Poor Nick Lyndhurst. He deserved so much more. So heavily typecast and you only ever saw Rodney when you looked at him. Such a talented actor and couldn’t get work away from shitty sitcoms. Only Fools and Butterflies were classics but he should’ve went on to do so much more.
The yellow car at the start! It all came flooding back!
I feel grateful to have been growing up when the programme theme tune was just as important and had to be just as memorable as the programme itself...this, Howards Way, Boon need l go on. Back in this era they firmly understood that great theme music identity makes so many emotions in itself!
Brilliant TV Series. Have Series 1 on DVD and need to get rest. One of the best TV Sit Coms ever.
Absolutely Awesome!!! A real jump back in time!!
Love this series one of the best shows I had seen
You have really intrigued me with your mention of The GingerBread Girl! I can't remember the show at all and had to 'google' it to find out that Janet Dibley was in it! I wish you luck in trying to find the series again as i know how difficult it can be to track down obscure shows from childhood days!
Nicholas.. if you ever see this.. well done, you made us all so happy watching you (and David).. but you put on a bit of weight like all of us lol..
Now .. this theme tune, programme, character persona's that take us right back to the 80's remind me of when life was care free for me, and HURT SO MUCH because my parents are now both gone.. no one to talk to, apologise to, confide in....
Hang in there, God will reunite all good people.
I came here for the FM synths
Gorgeous ain't they
It was also out on 7" Vinyl back in the 80's...I love the theme too!!!
I converted my vinyl to MP3 about 10 years ago...I've just played it against your video and it is identical...The record's in the loft now...But I'm sure it was by 'Silsoe' They did the 1986 World Cup Theme...I have that too...Very similar style to this one :)
Great upload 5/5 :)
DazzleDust32 & stumpysteven73. It's good to hear that at last they have finally released this series on dvd, i just wonder what took them so long!!
@MaterialGirlMad1989 The theme was a bit cheesy but so was the show! So was the decade!!! Still fantastic though. I'm a bit of an 80s addict really. I love the tv shows, the movies, the music, the sport, even the clothes! Shame i was only a kid at the time!
Thanks for your nice comments.
Back from when we still tried to make sitcoms.
Aztec Gold offcut, basically.
Glad you mentioned the '86' world cup theme as i've only uploaded 2 vids on youtube, this one and the 86' WC theme(also known as Aztec Gold)! Both are great themes. Thank you for the comments.
Definitely! Very similar.
Fantastic theme. And I had a very big crush on the lovely Janet Dibley. Not so much on Nicholas Lyndhurst.
Kraftwerk + Stephanie Mills = this!
Classic TV!!! First Series is available on dvd now!
I Remember my parents watching this when I was a child.
This was such a cheesey 80s theme but it worked well with the prog. Please bring back the 80s sitcoms Nicholas Lyndhurst and Janet Dibley at their best as Ashley Phillips and Elaine Walker thanks for the upload it brought back lots of memories. x x
Reminds me of instrumental in long version of Layla!
I got this and Watching mixed up loads with their theme tunes.
Still hoping the remaining series' will join series 1 on DVD at some point.
Hi. I couldn't find this tune anywhere on download, so i managed to track down a 80s cd called "Twenty Great Tv Themes" which had this on it.
This is such an underrated show. I always thought this was better and funnier than Only Fools. I preferred Nick in this. The first series is on dvd, but my question is why are series 2, 3 and 4 not on dvd? Come on, release them!
The opening was so uplifting and Janet Dibley is of course gorgeous. That's the first time I have heard the theme in its full length. Nice one.
Hi all. To anybody who likes the track you can download it from a site called film&tvthemes.com. The site has a lot of British 70s & 80s themes, each tune costing about 67p.
I remember the one with the matching jackets, (I think) her parents and the dog too
@qfproductionsuk Yes, he was brilliant in the first series, and Tenniel Evans made a great job of filling in his shoes in the later series's. Both made 'Perce' their own.
@redfowlham that was a great show,do you remember albion market, used to be shown an a friday and sunday night.
!! Where'd you get the audio from?! I used to watch this when I was a kid!! Is it avail. for download somewhere??
What, Rod Argent co wrote the theme!
Would the writer of this tv telly tune be the same one of this? Mexico 86 itv theme
Yes mate. Rod Argent & Peter Van Hooke. Great tune as well. They also did Itv's Italia 90 theme.
redfowlham I thought so! I love the Mexico '86 ITV theme tune, its one of my most memorable tv theme tunes of my childhood. Obviously similar or the same syths and keyboards used for the Two of Us theme tune.
Collectively known as Silsoe. I've just bought the 7" single, and did I PAY!!! Not many copies around...
@redfowlham certainly do remember Albion market ,i 'm not sure it was as depressing as eastenders.
Forgot Patrick Troughton was in the first series before he sadly died.
Forgot Patrick Troughton was in the first series before he sadly died
Is it just me, or does this theme sound like the end of Layla by Derik and the dominoes
Theme tune is ripped off Stephanie Mills 1980 hit Never knew love like this before
sptol You're right there, but as a theme you have to admit its pretty bloody brilliant ..but then again, so is Stephanie Mills version.
Also Autobahn by Kraftwerk.
Sounds like the music Call Centres play when they put you in a queue.
sorry to say it but if this is your favorite telly theme, there clearly must be loads you've never heard!
I've heard tons bud but this one has really stayed with me since i was a kid. Puts me in a nice place when i hear it.
@TheMicko71 Think i was only about one when that was shown! Wasn't it ITV's answer to Eastenders?
Having watched the series, its clear that Nicholas Lyndhurst is actually better in this than as a certain plonker called Rodney Trotter.
Never got into this, the piglet files or goodnight sweetheart
