  • Tony Stewart and Gene Haas made it official this week, announcing that Stewart-Haas Racing will shut down at the end of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. The announcement confirmed months-long rumors about the team's future as drivers, crew members and NASCAR media hinted that SHR would cease to exist beyond 2024.
In this clip from PRN's O'Reilly Auto Parts Pit Reporters, Brett McMillan is joined by Shane Connuck of the Charlotte Observer and Catchfence.com's Chris Knight to discuss how we got here, what's next for Stewart-Haas teams and drivers, as well as the charters that will hit the market.
Silly season is officially in full swing with SHR's closure. Several teams have been linked to the Stewart-Haas charters, including Front Row Motorsports, 23XI Racing, Trackhouse Racing and RFK Racing. It's unclear if Ford will acquire a new organization to replace SHR or if they'll increase support for existing teams.
The news also leaves an uncertain future for drivers Chase Briscoe, Josh Berry, Ryan Preece and Noah Gragson. Briscoe, who has been with SHR for 7 years, has been rumored to have an in with the Wood Brothers, but nothing is officlal. Gragson's Bass Pro Shops sponsorship could help him find a new Cup ride, while Berry and Preece have no clear option at this time. #NASCAR #StewartHaas #TonyStewart
