- iListen here with the World's First Ever Social Experiment done inside of Virtual Reality. Today in VRChat, I set up a Social Experiment to see how people react. Will those that are in VRChat hiding behind a VR helmet be more brave or less brave to stand up for the victim?

This social experiment was probably one the best thing I’ve seen in 2020
Congratulations your pinned
@@dr.gorgeous you're*

@@dr.gorgeous ty~
It actually had a hypothesis
“Cause we’re all degenerates”
Best explanation ever for standing up for someone lol
I just wana say the first gender roles reversed, the girl talking down to the guy didnt sound as harsh until later, unlike the first part. Id say thats why it took longer
Maybe he should redo the experiment with the actors talking in different tone of voices and maybe different skins as well just to see if that changes anything.
there's just too many factors to count: Skins, sizes, tone, content of the conversation, gender, maybe even initial number of people on each side... to make full scale experiment there should be like at least per 2 actors of each gender and more for group attack plays
yeah and the guy was laughing a bit as well
Definitely need a redo with better actors
I agree the female one didn’t seem harsh it kinda felt cliché and forced
Tbh in VR Chat there is so much RP and friends being mean to eachother for fun, etc. that is difficult to understand if people are serious or not
True
Though I like the idea, I don't think them saying negative things about being in VR is much of "bullying".
Especially because everyone in VRChat is in VR themselves. So it just comes off as hypocritical.
I would've liked to see the actors "attack" each other as strangers.
A lot of the time I see guys with high pitch voices or females getting bullied in VR. I've seen people get judged for the avatars they use, especially furries or meme characters. I do wish those aspects were addressed, as it does happen in the game.
However, it was refreshing to see some new ideas for a video ^^
I was thinking the same.
It would have been good to have the same kind of "reasoning" behind the "bullying" and not switch it up from time to time.
Either stay on the "u never join us when we invite us irl" or make it more extreme like in the last one "i hate looking at you".
But putting them both in comparison to each other just is not an equal level.
Despite that, the idea behind it is great and surely can have a lot of different outcomes.
I would love to see a second video about this, maybe with a few more "experiments" to compare.
Amazing work!
I did actually come across someone like this but he was taking it even further. Even though he was in vr himself which is so dumb I know, but I was like oh damn this is exactly the only negative person I met in vr so it didnt seem unbelievable to me.
I used a furry avatar once and got called a fur fag multiple times in one day....
@@SonyXLR Yeah a lot of my furry friends are often in private worlds for a good reason.
"So, I Step In With My Goose Hands, Y'Know?"
I died lmao
i was looking for someone who thought that was funny too cus that made me cackle
"Bro get outta my house"
*Does a CoD slide with middle fingers up into the scene*
hey man i’m just here to say thank you for uploading things like this in vr such as people sharing their life sharing experiences and more, it really makes me think about how grateful i am for where i am and what i have and shows me how to be humble. it opened my eyes just from watching your videos. i really don’t know how you have millions of subscribers, you deserve it.
It's interesting seeing how everyone reacts in different ways.
The results are very interesting.
Fluffer and Mike were amazing!
I would love to see more social experiments on VRchat!
the challenge is not to be first and type first first, but to be first and refrain from writing first
I feel bad 😢 I wouldn't help them I'd be too scared in case it would make the situation worse
Same..
8:59 lmaooooo LOOK AT THE CAT
CLOSELY
Ah I would love to help but then again there's some troll out there who pretend to fight then turns it against you, and I usually calculate the situation before stepping in just in case that was the way their relationship is ya know "I'll tug your pigtails and you'll tug my arm." kinda friendship.
Amazing. i'm a realy shy person too and it makes me happy that people actually do care for each other 💖
I like this experiment!
you should try another one...
like someone is bullied because she/he can't speak English properly and they think that she/he is weird...
yeah, that's it hehe...by the way thanks for uploading this video because I learn that in vrchat everyone is nice XD
0:55 They stood up because the "actor" attacked the strangers too
To be honest I think tone has a lot to do with it. When Mike was getting told off it sounded much like we as friends often mess around with eachother sarcastically. It was only when she really kept going that the guys fully realised she could be serious. Whereas Mike coming out of nowhere with his deeper tone and butt in that way instantly, just naturally sounds more toxic. Gender maybe has something to do it but not necessarily because of 'white knighting' but general expectations
Its great seeing instances where toxicity irl and in virtual life is a "1 vs everyone" type thing and they shut it down together
This is awesome!! This might legit get issued in some sort of sociology or psychology news letter or something. This has real potential to be big, a larger sample size and different scenarios could really change how we look at human interaction over VR. Most people may feel threatened irl to stand up as they could have something semi-serious to them happen, like social isolation, but in VR you're in the comfort of your own home with little to no real consequences. I'd love to see more of this from a sociological aspect, keep up the good work!!
Sees a video that was published 1 minute ago: "I am speed."
Notices it was mad *7 hours ago: "I am speedn't."*
I swear this guy is so underrated it’s actually crazy
I loved it but there were definitely some flaws. You should try to get the same amount of people for the same one and, the girl seemed to be more aggressive. Might get cleaner results if you fix these things. Not trying to hate though it was very fun to watch good job.
You're amazing dude, don't forget that❤
Dude we have the same profile pic 😂
@@timetologoff1780 oh- w e l p
@@mil0af you must be someone with impeccable taste
@@timetologoff1780 Muahaha, I sure am😌😌
I'd say two factors:-
1. This is VR Chat, no one is fearful of a fallout if they intervene.
2. Those who have experienced bullying vs those who haven't. Also matters on what life experience has been. Some people tend to have a lot of bottled up anger against the world due personal experiences.
"As long as he's happy" That's so wholesome
Intresting...
Your first
The kid trying to defend him in the 4th instance is gonna grow up to be a great person
I really like those big 'goose hands'
If you get bullied in a game you can just turn it off or use the mute button lol
There's something that occurs in psychology that is important to think about. When groups of people commit towards an action, including inaction towards something else, we tend to follow the same action. Meaning if a few set of people step around something, others are likely to repeat the same action without realizing it. In simple terms, monkey see, monkey do.
This is why we can see sometimes people not helping those in need of help as some have looked past the people in need, and others had followed. Although it isn't necessarily our fault for this, it is something we should break off to help those in need. Sometimes people are strong enough to defend themselves, and regardless of their strength, it's best to help those are being wronged.
1:31 "aye bro can you get out of my house" lol thats my favorite line
on a side note, as someone who has played VR Chat a bit, it is really hard to decipher whether it's RP, a skit, some weird shit, or an actual situation. VR Chat is a nature of it's own
To me, this just sounds like parenting. It’s not even bullying, it’s being someone’s mom or dad
When it was Mikes first turn and those guys stepped in, I could tell it was out of pity.
This social experiment is a new whole level
That goose tho stepping in with them bootifool hands I love it
for the first one i think it was the avatars which made some take longer because its kinda funny seeing a tiny avatar yell at someone 10x the size of her
People have said Vrchat can be “toxic” but from experience its the most wholesome and amazing thing ever I’m so happy it exists this is the best thing ever you can make friends from around the world we’ve met rude people before yes it happens but a lot do defend men and women i do see vrchat as an amazing platform any age and genders to talk to unique people especially during quarantine a nice way to feel less lonely and such
Yeah in my experience i agree and i can say that it's most accurate to say that you just have to learn to stand up for yourself because i myself got bullied physically and verbally for almost 10 years and there was no one who literally helped me but it's nice to know that there are actually ppl who would be ready to help someone who's in that situation...
(still not gonna trust anyone too much but a little wouldn't hurt 🤷)
5:35 Ngl- what Mike said, that's actually me :'>
Ayo at the start i was disspointed someone didnt go "You're talking mad shit for someone in crusading distance"
“Aye bro. Get out my house”
this dude better get the recognition he deserves bc i actually look forward every day to seeing content from him, i only subscribed like a week ago and i been binge watching his videos and it really opens your mind on how many people are going through a lot of shit every day
Her- People here aren’t real friends.
Me- oh NOOO it’s bout to go down-
I like when the goose steps up :) that's a pretty good person
I am glad he put those goose hands to use.
I feel like the second one, which they switched roles, doesnt really count because the dude that was the "victim" spoke in a laughing kinda way which made it seem like a little joke, while the first one, where the female played the "victim" said things in a more serious way.
Good to see they still stepped up tho :3
Best social experience can turn
I think people were most likely to step in when it genuinly sounded like a real altercation. Some didn't sound that severe.
Yeah, when you're not sure if it's banter or something serious, it can be hard to decide whether to step in or not...
"Oh god is that describing us?" Lol maybe it is?
More more. We need more of this.
when you're too shy that can't even talk to VR peoples
Love the vid man
I love the social experiment but I couldn't stop laughing at the duck that had the arms xD
goose hands was legit
5:44 I wouldn‘t have stepped in because it sounded very personal and like she ditched her friends for random people on the internet.
“Hi I’m John Quinones. What would you do?”
They both sound close to laughing though.
1:40 "cause we're all degenerates"
🤣
That goose guy towards the end was freaking funny. He was like my big goose hands
This is an amazing thing that u have tested out m8 , just found you channel and I have no idea why you aren't getting more views
That second time with the girl didn't seem harsh at all. First time was harsh.
Proof that vrchat community cares
the WWYD of VR Chat
This was really nice
I found this channel yesterday. I had no idea VR chat was a thing. I think maybe the animated characters might help disarm people’s barriers that they would usually hide behind.
Does that make sense?
Because if you sit there and do all the standing up they’ll never learn how to not be dependent on there people to help them instead of helping themselves
Mindsets like this are the reason why so many people who are bullied commit suicide. Like yeah I get that they should learn how to stand up for themselves but leaving them to get berated by an asshole isn’t going to help and in fact will just make things worse
The last one is for the homies
Fluffers is adorable
this was the nicest bullying i've ever seen
With only a few experiments and the variety of harshness/portrayal of issues of the bulling (some of bulling arguments were not directed just towards the “victim” and the amount of that varied throughout all of them) etc and the surrounding people being primarily male it’s hard to make a define general conclusion about bulling and gender specifically
Let's be honest da bois will always be wid u no matter what
In goose with strong arms we trust
Damn fluffers went in on him
maybe the first one ever recorded... but not the first, people do these things on the daily
The bois support the bois with anything
lesson learned, thrust the duck people.
This was an awesome video idea! Way to shine some light on a touchy subject that we should all talk more about
I am subbed and i really enjoy your videos
i am a complete loner mostly cause i never trained my social skills but i hate to have realised i am the type of person that would just sit on the sidelines and most likely get out when i see a chance
Moooree of this!!
Oh my god ilisten I think this is the best video you have ever made
broo i would feel so bad if i had to shout at someone else for a video and they're still fine with it
Awesome video! Can’t wait to see more like this!
My mind when I press the video: hello I’m John Quinones and I’m from what would you do
i think it probably depended on the "alpha" of the group. once someone stepped in, the others seemed to followed suit, but when someone consciously decided to stay away, likewise the others followed suit.
like just for the goose guy lmao
THAT DUDE AT THE BEGINNING JUST SLIDING ON THE FLOOR XD
Step in with my big goose hands lol
I Subscribed With All Notifications
Sorry I'm late to the party. Lol
But anyways,
• With the first social experiment---I really have nothing to say about it really.
• With the second one I'd say it's nothing about gender as a female, it's the fact she wasn't that aggressive at first.
• With the third one I completely agree with all of them, I'm not going to step-in because I don't know you. I already have some much stress and anger going on in my life---I don't need you to add on. But I wouldn't be annoyed I'm just too awkward.
• Now with my opinion:
I'm not going to step-in---it's just friend drama but that might because I think I'd be ignored as I usually do when I try to step-in. I get bullied a lot---but I'm not afraid to step-in. Again back to the third scene I'd would basically say the same thing (but not "no one cares" lol)
Early and that is soo sad.Keep up the vids and good content
I feel like the girl being the bully didn't help with the fact that the male actor was laughing too
This is very surprising. Keep up the good vids.
I know it's a act but I'm so mad
10/10 actors!
Y'all should do one where a male gets bullied cause, when a girl gets bullied obviously simps gonna jump in right
I think this experiment is a bit flawed because it's not exactly "VR" bullying, it sounds more like IRL friends arguing inside a VR game. That makes people not want to join in because they knew each other already and can resolve it themselves.
If you made it look like those two people didn't know each other in real life and one just starting bullying randomly, I think it would be a different story.
6:48 that uwu tho XDDD
I stan "Big 'ol goose hands"
She just said she only invites him in pitty
