Just a thought - while living in Nova Scotia we embraced sweat equity - which is , you help a persons project by giving your time then if they have a particular skill they returned the sweat equity time that you put in on their project - You guys were / are in the gardening business? I believe utube channel Escape to rural France are doing a massive garden planting- just a thought - ( not sure how far away they are from you ) or could you adapt sweat equity in your location to help with the pointing . It is more likely that they will invite their subscribers with those skills to come and help for free. Brilliant. A lot of the work is in the preparation getting out the weeds and cleaning the joints. I suspect Yip that you think you have done it all and then stand back and find something you've either missed or want a second go at. The pointing is fantastic we are starting to see just what the wall will look like when it is finished. Loved seeing Paul fitting in the missing stones - you will have to get him a jigsaw puzzle for Christmas! Do you reuse the slates when you remove the roof or are the shot? I hope we continue to have some good weather so that you can make progress.
Thanks so much Chris, most of the slates are too far gone to be reused on a cottage roof but we’ll always find other uses, maybe one day when we’re minor celebrities we could sell them to fans to raise funds for the restoration 🤣😳😂

Sorry if this has been answered.I saw another renovation where the owner tarped all the roofs over winter to avoid further interior damage Is this something you would consider or do you have another plan?
@@KBS3688 Hey KBS 👋🏼 we do have a plan to repair some of the worst holes to get us by this winter, unfortunately the holes have been there so long that the damage has already been done, also it can be so stormy here that even the most securely fixed tarp would be torn to shreds in a matter of weeks. For a more temporary/long term fix we would like to cover the roofs with large corrugated metal roof sheets which would be quick to install, after which we could replace the sheets on each cottage at a time as and when we can afford roof slates.
