One mistake here , you using gas ptfe tape which is thicker, if you have ordinary ptfe tape you need to put more rounds because it’s thinner than gas ptfe ...
White and yellow are water safe due to specs. Green for oxygen lines, silver for stainless steel and there is a pink one for something else. The gas tape can be used for installing none drinking water application. But yes if you use white tape I tend to do a few more passes.
@@dunlaoghaire1000 I had to use about 15 if I remember correctly. That type of connection is a nightmare. The metal in that area has proven very rust-prone, so I would suggest using "pipe dope" as well as the tape.
Having just replaced a radiator for the first time, I can wholeheartedly agree that 2-3 wraps is no where near enough. I agree with NxReefa - 20 wraps is closer to the reality 😄
Plenty of vids on YT showing anti-clockwise application of ptfe!! Also, it won’t take long for you to find a video showing the fitting of a bleed valve in the bottom of a towle rad!!! Gotta larf.
These valves often leak when turned on and off, advice I always give customers is to leave them be. If your looking to be able to shut the radiator down at all, you should fit a chrome type Trv valve on one side 👍🏻
This was my exact problem and you've solved it mate - thanks very much!
You are welcome! Glad to hear our video helps.
This is the best video on this, nice and clear info, thanks

Giving wrong tip. For radiators tails always 20 turns of PTFE tape.
Mines still leaks a tiny winy bit only when turned of
Has it leaked yet?
It's 20 wraps not 2 or 3
8 to 10.

@@magnesium_ribbon , do 25 for safety, you never regret it.
Fuck it just use a whole roll on each 😁

Why are you using gas ptfe on a water fitting?
Stephen Ketteridge quicker 3 wraps and your done never had a problem with doing it day in day out myself
Its for demonstration purposes on how to wrap ptfe tape around the fitting. Its not a video on what ptfe tape to buy/use ffs
Why did youtube bring me here
