Come on, don’t be simple, challenge yourself, do some self development, take an online course or attend a leisure learning, take up a hobby. You don’t want to be a simpleton for the rest of your life do you?
I had the honor to talk with Teddy today at Watches & Wonders in front of the GS booth. We also talked about the SLGW003 and agreed that it is amazing 😁 Great to see the video now with Joe
It’s obvious that Grand Seiko is going to be one of the top tier watch-maker in near future. Their dedication to the details and innovation is ahead of swiss competitors
Would love to see the Optical Multi-Layer Coating dial on a more simple watch. the GS Chronos are generally pretty distasteful IMO. It'd be nice to have that on a time-only watch to really appreciate the dial.
I’d actually like to see it on one of their dive watches. I agree that the spring drive chrono/gmts are just too much. (Wouldn’t turn down a free one though)
One of the best Grand Seiko movements yet. As a whole, it's close to being the best... I wish the dial had its center pinion capped off like with other GS watches. For future development, a peripheral rotor would be nice. And, for mechanical movements, GS has never done a grande date AFAIK--let's see one. Also, this is a criticism for the watch industry as a whole, but the fact that a precious metal case is many times the cost of the non-precious metal variant is extortionary. The difference in price of the raw metal input in no way justifies the cost. 1 troy oz of pure gold (i.e. 24kt) is currently at $2,333.17. The rose gold case is not only not pure gold (usually at 75% gold or 18kt), but the case alone will weigh in at around 1 maybe 1.5 troy oz in terms of gold content in total. Even when you make it into a limited edition, the price is still not justified--imagine selling the same case in silver or even just steel with only 80 pieces, it would be nowhere near the price of its precious metal counterpart. In other words, the markup is considerably high. So, the margins on the precious metal watches are huge, and are far greater than the steel and titanium offerings.
I don't like GS bezels, so I'm usually interested only in their basic time or time+date watches. Currently owning a SBGA 025 and I'll maybe try to get a fancier dial in the future, but not a GMT or chronograph. For some reason I think their simple watches work best esthetically.
Maybe, just maybe, my request seems to have come true 💖 grandseikoboutique.in/collections/elegance/products/sbgy035g-caliber-9r-20th-anniversary-limited-edition
I really, really like GS and the new releases but at this point, especially with them trying to move upwards on the pricing, not updating the clasp (arguably also the bracelet) is unacceptable and disappointing - imho. Even Tudor, which is half, sometimes a third of the price has a superb micro adjustment clasp - if you move into the 10k region you have to deliver.
Thank you. I thought about writing more or less this comment but you did it for me. I recently purchased an Omega AT Worldtimer and the reason I eliminated GS from consideration was the bracelet and clasp: they're just horribly substandard (in this price range). I didn't buy a Rolex DJ because I was told by two different ADs I'd be waiting 6-12 months and I'm unwilling to play those stupid games, plus when I tried on the Omega I just fell in love with the dial: it is *gorgeous* (which is also what I love about GS, it's just that the bracelet-clasp combo are a deal-breaker).
100% this, they certainly need to update the clasps. The current gen clasps work, but they dont match the quality and dedication of the rest of the watch.
me and my dad were at W&W this year on the press days as guests from Panerai, and spot you walking around. You looked pretty rushed so we didnt try and stop you for a cheeky picture, but maybe next year! hope you enjoyed it teddy!
I just acquired a SLGW003.. The dial and the case back are so mesmerizing. I’m very happy to add it to my collection! Also - I was sitting next to Joe Kirk at a GS dinner in Boston.. He’s so passionate about the brand, Japanese culture and watches in general. What a great ambassador!
I remember my first time seeing Teddy as Producer Michael's guest almost 3 years ago... And now you have 1 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS! You are still my favorite watch content creator. Congratulations! Cheers to you ang the guys behind the camera.
So this video, especially of The Lion, may have led me to head down to the Grand Seiko Boutique in Miami and put a deposit down for mine. Joel was an amazing host while I was there.
Love my Grand Seikos and now I'm Soo excited for the new watches!! Actually I met Joe a while back here in Kansas City MO for a Grand Seiko show and it was an awesome event! He was very informative and saw my interest and took me to the corner and showed me some very expensive and special Grand Seiko 😁
The dial that represents the rivers and the geometric shapes on it. O that's super nice. I like that one and the Tokyo gmt that is red but changes in color depending on the angle you look at it.
The case of the new white birch looks very similar to the case of the vintage Seikomatic Weekdater (the 6218-8970) when looked at face on,which *hint hint* is one of the hidden gems that almost nobody knows about.
The 275 has *THE* dial of my dreams...but of course there are only going to be 700 of them 😞 Adding it to my list of things I'll never have right next to the Bugatti Veyron. Curse you GS...LOL
How can you produce so many quality videos a week? You must have a power house behind you. You must be The Seiko Official Embassador. Nothing wrong with that, but it is overwhelming. Out of this world videos.😮
Thanks, Teddy and Joe. Long may this yearly tradition continue. Stunning new models are being presented here. These are still outside my budget, unfortunately, but nevertheless are a must-view for any watch enthusiast.
I still love my LV reverse monogram nkuwan clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
I was looking to make my next GS purchase a spring drive but the new SLGW003/002 are fantastic and will probably be my next purchase... the spring drive will have to wait a little longer 😅
These are gorgeous and I love the attention to detail they have given to the 9SA4 movement and the SLGW003 - I really hope they take these learnings and reflect them across the 9SA5 movement watches as well.
Teddy. I enjoy your program. I just ordered the SLGW005 with the double signed logo. The SLGW003 is on my list too. The only wish is it has more water resistance.
I'm an artist that's new to the watch world. A year and a half ago i stopped taking comissions for art work, Since then i have started 2 projects which are still unfinished. I dont place a price on my hours anymore so i am producing my work to the best of my potential regardless of the time and investment. This is why i am drawn towards Grand Seiko. GS really seems to me as an artisan brand that will go all the way for craftsmanship.
Great releases from Seiko, that 9SA4 caliber is looking so good! Love the birch bark dial as well, but really hoping they'll use that caliber in future watches as well! And that SLGH021 dial is mind-blowing... Great pleasure as always to see Teddy engaging with new timepieces!
16:34 Grand Seiko NEED to start putting the "Grand Seiko" logo in that font up top as it is in this remake of the "first", and put the "GS" emblem above the 6 oclock marker like they used to before. Thats the most balanced and pleasing visual from a design perspective, and it avoids the "seiko" branding they've been distinguishing Grand Seiko from
Agreed, I have 4 watches from Grand Seiko, Omega, Rolex and Vacheron Constantin, the accuracy of spring drive just insane when you compare it to others with just over a week. GS is the type of brand that you love it more overtime after you own one. It's understated but elegant, and with highest craftmanship quality. GS is now my favorite watch brand. Really want to add the SBGC275 to my collection if I get the chance.
What Grand Seiko is doing in terms of manufacturing is unbelievable. I would love to be able to afford one of these beautiful time pieces, they are just fascinating.
I saw went to go see the SBGC275 in person and it blew me away. I walked out with it that day and so far the time keeping still has been dead on accurate. I saw the SLGW003 yesterday and it was extremely light and thin. I’m not too sure about the manual winding but considering it has a 80hour power reserve it might be okay.
Nice video. I have had a catch and release relationship with several Grand Seikos. I fall in and out of love like an 18 year old. But today as this video dropped, I picked up my SLGH013G: GS44 Ever Brilliant case, the amazing 9SA5 movement, with a killer dial. I hope to marry this one. But why are they available for under $6k pre-owned in the US? Maybe the market knows something I don't. Worse, maybe it knows something I do. 🤷
I forgot his name, but he really is able to explain all the new models well. I am thinking of getting the manual wind. I'm hoping I get the chance to get the rose gold model.
IMHO, the SLGW003 ‘White Birch’ is almost a perfect watch. It would be perfect if GS was brave enough to remove the unnecessary text on the dial like the SGBW series of dress watches. I currently have the SBGW283 as my dress watch and I love it.
Really incredible watches. Love the explanation of the technology, free-sprung etc. Perfect if they lost the necessary printing on the dial. Option of a solid case back too please. Great video BTW
You check the power reserve when you take off/or put it on each day, and when winding (because you should not wind while wearing). Makes complete sense to be on the back ; ) Most manual winds do not have a power reserve indicator, so why ruin the dial putting it on the dial?
All of Teddy’s content is so professionally presented - sets it apart from so much of the watch content on UA-cam which is filled with shtick and the hosts making it all about themselves. As always another tremendous Episode
I wish they would make the bracelet design on those chronos their standard across the board. It’s a much more clean look without the vertical “racing stripes”
I wonder which Titaniom alloy they use.. since there are different alloys that could be described as "brilliant hard Titanium". Also they say that its twice as hard as Steel, but in my experience Titanium is a lot tougher than steal but not harder, e.g. it scratches easier but is tougher against deformation compared to steel.. which makes me even more curious which kind of Titanium alloy formula they use and what the actual hardness of it is.
Simply unmatched in the quality of his content in the Watch game is Teddy! Thanks for your dedication!
Thanks Yoda
I’m a simple man, I see Teddy and Joe talking new Grand Seiko pieces, I hit play.
Hahaha same
Joe is one of the true gems in the world. A great guy.
Same happen to me everytime I see Teddy talking about FP Journe (without Kevin O'leary of course)
Come on, don’t be simple, challenge yourself, do some self development, take an online course or attend a leisure learning, take up a hobby. You don’t want to be a simpleton for the rest of your life do you?
Hey, realrezlyy, Chat GPT is trying to sell you a self development course. It doesnt understand what a self deprecating joke is.
I had the honor to talk with Teddy today at Watches & Wonders in front of the GS booth. We also talked about the SLGW003 and agreed that it is amazing 😁
Great to see the video now with Joe
Say my hello to teddy
It’s obvious that Grand Seiko is going to be one of the top tier watch-maker in near future. Their dedication to the details and innovation is ahead of swiss competitors
They’re already there
I love the birdie that helps wind that mechanism one click at a time
That red dial is absolutely incredible! Hope they bring the technology to more models.
Very glad we finally have a new hi-beat manualwind movement!! Been some years
Best video about watches I've seen in a long time. I could listen to you guys talking about GS releases and stories for hours 😊
Outstanding video.I have to go with the MAMACOO, especially with that green dial as my favorite
Would love to see the Optical Multi-Layer Coating dial on a more simple watch. the GS Chronos are generally pretty distasteful IMO. It'd be nice to have that on a time-only watch to really appreciate the dial.
yeah they don't scream Grand Seiko at all, they're gaudy and don't fit with the ethos of the brand IMO
I’d actually like to see it on one of their dive watches. I agree that the spring drive chrono/gmts are just too much. (Wouldn’t turn down a free one though)
That was my same thought too, needs a less cluttered dial to let the design shine.
That red dial and kodo are just wouah 😍
Love the Kudo. Must have been amazing to see and hear in person :) thanks for showing the recent releases and collections
One of the best Grand Seiko movements yet. As a whole, it's close to being the best...

Me too man! That was quite an impressive event.
that rose gold with the white dial is out of this world

So this video, especially of The Lion, may have led me to head down to the Grand Seiko Boutique in Miami and put a deposit down for mine. Joel was an amazing host while I was there.
That Grand Seiko Evolution 9 is stunning. I love the white birch line from them, so elegant.

Teddy , you and Britt Pierce are the only watch channels I watch(no pun intended😂). Simple , to the point , and professional
GS is next level stuff and Joe represents them like a Bauss 😊

Easily the best tradition in the watch industry, Teddy and Joe talk Grand Seiko
Thanks, Teddy and Joe. Long may this yearly tradition continue. Stunning new models are being presented here. These are still outside my budget, unfortunately, but nevertheless are a must-view for any watch enthusiast.
the nkuwan would be super cute during the fall with a nude or tan or even tonal outfit! i’m thinking a tan wool coat with that bag!!
Teddy loves Grand Seiko with the same passion Nico Leonard hates Hublot. I would love to see a collab between those two.
Let's say, i've been waiting a whole year just for this tradition.
That SLGH021 is stunning. I had my heart set on a Datejust, but this GS has it beat. Might have to head on down to a dealer.
I still love my LV reverse monogram nkuwan clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.

Teddy. I enjoy your program. I just ordered the SLGW005 with the double signed logo. The SLGW003 is on my list too. The only wish is it has more water resistance.
Grand Seiko is my aspirational brand. The Evolution 9 with the rippled dial is one of the best looking watches I’ve seen.
They are great watches. I bought the SLGA023 Ushio earlier this year. It is an amazing watch. Best of luck.
Amazing timepiece that is readily available to real watch enthusiasts. Love the bird like touch in the winding mechanism. Value for your money!

Always good to see Joe Kirk on the channel
This was really fun! I love the Kodo, and the Genbi valley is stunning.
Yeah, I pulled the trigger and bought a Genbi valley this morning. I adore it.

Absolutely love these videos with this man from grand seiko. I always end up learning something cool about watches
Wow, most interesting information. Thanks a lot! I just love Grand Seiko and how they innovating the watch industry!

It's actually terrifying how far in front of everyone else they are. Constantly innovating and pushing the boundaries of what anyone though possible.
Once again amazing GS what a beautiful fantastic watches as about the red!!! chronograph I’m speechless!!! 👍👏💪❤️
I am really impressed by GS. Love both the technology and the dials. Cool.
I have been quite anti Seiko. The titanium manual wind SLGW003 could be my favourite GS. Looking forward to see it in flesh soon
I really like to see two young dudes passionate about legit watches without all the pomp and circumstance.
Joe wear a watch on both wrists 😂
Great conversation. Love Grand Seiko, sadly for me they don’t lose value as much on the pre owned market as I’d like! One day though, one day…
Very impressive stuff. Great interview. A GS high beat of some sort is my grail watch.
Teddy is great guy. Humble and honest!
Great video, love GS as is, these are exceptional IMHO
Those GMT's are pretty hot wow
Quality content and GS is coming hard this year. Great pieces ... love the titanium manual wind dress watch
Beautiful. Would love to see more bracelet options from the brand.
Fascinating material and great presentation, thank you!
That click setup is beautiful!
A fascinating summary of 2024 Grand Seikos from Joe👍👍. I am a GS fan....
Grand Seiko have excelled themselves this year.
Really incredible watches. Love the explanation of the technology, free-sprung etc. Perfect if they lost the necessary printing on the dial. Option of a solid case back too please. Great video BTW
I appreciate the measurements and specs on each piece and movement
0:47 what use is a power reserve gauge on the back?
You check the power reserve when you take off/or put it on each day, and when winding (because you should not wind while wearing).
Makes complete sense to be on the back ; )
Most manual winds do not have a power reserve indicator, so why ruin the dial putting it on the dial?
The power reserve indicator if on the front will disturb the overall appearance in my opinion.
I really love grand seiko, the kodo is insane on every points

That dress watch made me drool.
I wonder which Titaniom alloy they use.. since there are different alloys that could be described as "brilliant hard Titanium". Magnificent watches. It would have been nice to see at least one model that’s not limited.
