- Commons Leader Lucy Powell has told Sky News that a reference to Liz Truss' "disaster" mini-budget was removed following a complaint from the former prime minister.
Ms Truss said references to her economic "mistakes" were "untrue political attacks".
Ms Powell said the reference was removed "because it's a civil service document that is produced alongside the King's Speech".
The description of the budget responsibility bill, which will make it mandatory for major fiscal changes to be checked in advance by the Office for Budget Responsibility watchdog, said it was “intended to capture and prevent those announcements that could resemble the disastrous Liz Truss mini-budget”.

If Lizz Truss is unhappy, she can contact her local MP. The system works!
New labour government has barely been in power for two weeks and already subject to more scrutiny than the Tories faced from their chums in the media in 14 years.
Not talking about Frottage disappearing off to America either.
Britains press isnt fit for purpose.
No there is zero scrutiny.
Their stormtroopers are arresting people for tweeting, while a certain demographic that isn't accountable ruins the country.
Truss and Kwarteng belong in prison.
Christ! Sky News getting the big hitters on with..........Jonathan Gullis! 😂😂
My thought exactly, that unit was barely relevant when he was the MP forStoke for one term, now, how come they're giving the fecker any airtime?
Gullis will now be a regular Ridge has a soft spot for right wing grifters she regresses into a giggling teenager
The Murdoch sewer pipe only ever pumps what sewer pipes pump sometimes more when reporting on labour or anyone not right wing sometimes less when cheerleading for the right wing
If they hadn't mentioned her name, then we would have had no idea who they were thinking of. (lol)
Alright who Ahm I thinking of
all news presenters should know better that not all legislation has to be in the King or Queen's speech stop asking daft questions
They forgot the lettuce too
Truss budget did crash the economy.
It didn't, not by any normal measure.
the exchange rate between the dollar and pound is manipulated.. When they wanted rid of her and her chancellor they forced the rate low..as soon as she was gone it was tight back where the collective central banks wanted it to be
Intentionally
@@lonegroover Normal being what? The Great Depression?
Sterling "crashed" because the US Fed raised interest rates. If the Bank of England had followed suit then the $/£ exchange rate would have stabilised. One can only speculate as to why the BoE didn't react to the US interest rate but a cynic may suggest that the "crisis" was helpful in providing the excuse to replace Truss with Sunak was more in tune with the requirements of WEF.
Bizarre! It was disastrous- what planet is she on?
Not sure but i wish she wasn't on this one!!
I though she was pro freedom of speach
For me not for thee
Freedom of spelling, too, apparently.
Freedom of speech.. doesn’t mean we have freedom to lie..or promote opinions based on fed untruths .. there must be accountabilities.. especially in our information sources & in governance 🤔🤔😎
Sadly the interviewer is becoming more asine as time goes on. Very sad. She's a fun woman but quality is dipping.
Perhaps she got credit for her spell-checking.skills.
@@helveticaification Indeed, as well as her punctuation skills.
Wot does any cvnt in this comment section know about fun
Funny, the moderator leans in to Powel talking, even smiling, but as soon as the camera was on her, she straightened and stopped smiling…
Funny haha or funny peculiar
@@stephenwalker850 both. Or peculiar but quite cute
The mass migration support requirement from the OBR and the failure of anybody in Parliament to even begin to understand the bank of England fail on Interest derivatives for pension funds are both worrying. It seems we are still at square one because media and politicians not up for it.
It'll take a bit of time to get used to crazy presenters hitting labour with stats about the state of the country.
A lot of the stuff they want to do costs money...lots of money...They dont have any..It will just be more money printing and inflation
Well if there is no money then it would not make any difference who was in charge - choices my friend choices, the difference is the Labour party will make the right choices.
standard tory party policy, not accountable for their own actions
Absolute shame on her.
I just switched off my tv when Charlie came on😅😅😅😅😅😅
It was an apt description.
I really hope they don't let 16/17 year olds vote. It's absurd to think it's ok, the excuse of letting them join the army is frankly stupid. Let's just not let them join the army instead. Labour look like they don't want to do it looking at this interview, so let's all hope.
I was ready to vote at 16. Young people voting is only problematic if schools don’t impose a thorough comprehension of civics and inspire a sense of collective belonging. And if they don’t then the 18+ year olds will be ill informed bad voters anyway. Good history, economics, sociology, ethics, and civics teachers together with sensible parents intentionally raising good citizens, this is what produce good voters. The age is less significant
@3d1e00 Get over it. Your mob lost.
@@davidhoward4715 lol! Spoilt my ballot mate, not stupid enough to think I can only be a left or a right 😀
Torry good with money. Cost to taxpayer over 200bln 😂
Whose Torry?
just wait and see how bad labor will cost the taxpayer
Ridge obviously not a Powell admirer judging from her attitude markedly different when interviewing the delightful Andrea Jenkyns
They just keep neutering his statements and using him as a prop. He should stand up for what he believes especially in green economy and conservancy of lands, buildings and wildlife.
I’d be more interested in people getting a living wage
Unfortunately he can’t constitutionally bound to follow the advice of the ministers
I thought GB ENERGY would be supplying energy to homes in uk .
What do 16 year old know about voting?
Nothing yet
If they can legally bring a new life into the world, they should legally be allowed to vote
It might battle political apathy in the long run if it creates an increasing pro-politics culture.
Not to vote for Reform !
What do 60 year olds know about voting?
Labour had a big majority in 1997 did do anything part from taking us to iraq war this Labour government has a very big majority looks like it will be the same
Agree, they did do anything and now they will do anything again
Punctuation and grammar please.
I wonder who they have in mind as CEO of GB Energy? Paula Vennells?
God forbid that "Labour" nationalise anything! The are just Tories with a different name.
'Red Tory' Sir Keir Starmer.
The question is….why are they allowing 16yr olds to vote?
16 year olds can drive, 16 year olds can sign up for military duty, 16 year olds will have at minimum, 3 years of their "adult" life directly hit by the previous government. Also statistically, when able to do so, 16/17 year olds who vote are more likely to continue to vote in the future for the rest of their lives over those who begin to vote at 18, if they even do begin to vote.
Seems to be a lot of life behaviour growth in those 2 years and given how little young people tend to vote in the UK, that change would be very good for democracy.
16 year olds cannot drive on the roads 16 year olds cannot serve on active military duty 16 year olds don't pay tax 16 year olds have no practical skills because they are still at school. 16 year olds voting is because the left still think they are indoctrinated from our farcical education system
Arguably smarter voters than those at 50+
@@capablanc so someone who's voted for over 30 years doesn't know the game? It's a desperate attempt at building a voter base that doesn't remember the country 20 or 30 years ago when life was considerably better
@@BadlydrawnBen 30 years ago? Right after black wednesday when the tories were horrifically disliked and it surprised many that Major won? The last good years were the 00s under labour lol.
Just as well otherwise in a few months it might be Mr Flip Flop disaster .
Good. Truss is just a scapegoat. The media has bullied her for long enough. Can't blame Liz for fighting back
Truss was much more than a ScapeGoat.
Her Plans for Low Taxation to boost the Economy and
spending are proven to work.
It was the Globalists and the Central Banks who needed higher
Interest Rates and rising Inflation quickly who were behind the
Coup to remove her and they used the Financial Tsunami caused by the Pension
Funds on Reverse Gilt Swaps that was causing turmoil in the Financial Markets
and blamed it on the Truss Fiscal Plan, because she went off script and
was not their Narrative or Plan for going forward.
Labour will finish off what little is left in a very short period.
Her electorate thought otherwise. She's always got her pork markets to go to.
yeah.. shes a scapegoat for the budget SHE introduced that caused HER ministers to live.. ahh when will the sheep wake up :)
The King treated Liz with disrespect. Dreadful.
@@violetlee1823 respect must be earned
Sophie knows why. She understands parliamentary time, but she is highlighting it. I don't mind
As someone who would happily see Truss sectioned, I have to grudgingly agree with her on this one. Yes, we all know what she did but dragging into the crown into make party political statements is against convention.
Tories completely lost their credibility and in the end had to go. But boy oh boy labour will do what every labour government has always done, crash the economy with their nonsensical policies. Which means we the people have nowhere to go. Depressing isn’t it. God help the UK.
The tories LITERALLY JUST crashed the economy with nonsensical policies. Maybe give them a chance.
We now know that the state and the bank of England didn't like Truss and deliberately crashed the markets.
Sophie ridge is talent journalist, and very naturally beautiful lady.. ❤❤ keep up the good the good work
If there is so little money, why is Labour pledging so much money at Ukraine (while USA will stop at nothing to prolong the war, so that money being pissed up the walls) and mad green gambles based on false unscientific ideas about carbon?
The lizz truss mini budget didn't crash the economy. It crashed the bond market. Or, more accurately, it triggered something that was in the works for that very same month anyway
Look at the USA bond market in September 2022. The exact same thing happened to USA government bonds
Bond investors collextively woke up that month and dumped bonds
Had she held her budget 1 month later. The same thing would have happened in September 2022. Bonds would have crashed. But she wouldn't have gotten the blame
Tell that to everyone who's mortgages have gone up
I mean, our cost of living that went up at exactly the same time begs to differ.
@JaxReads even the cost of living argument is mostly fake in that shre the cost of food or fuel or many other things went up. But so did wages pensions and benefits
There wasn't an economic collapse
GDP is more or else exactly the same as france
Circumstances just overran lizard trust. Has she held the same budget 2 months before or after she wouldn't have gotten the blame for the bond market sell off (which again I remind readers happened to the US and most EU nations at the same time)
@@kaya051285 mate come on. My mortgage payments went up OVERNIGHT. If it wasn't the budget, she's got some bloody awful timing.
@JaxReads The very same month, September 2022, mortgages in the USA France Germany Spain Italy also went up
Was that also due to her budget?
The Tories are right on this, it's tacky to make political points in the King's Speech. It shows Labour to be rather low level.
"our kings speach" certainly not my king pledging allegiance to a guy whos true character was exposed when the phone hacks with him and his now wife camilla disgusted the nation with thier discussion which was too abhorrent to re tell here...but go look for yourselfs

They can work pay tax and get married
Ah yes blaming Truss instead of the BofE 😂
Was it not ah disaster, is brexit not also ah disaster, if these are not disasters will they do until the disaster gets here or in lieu of disaster
