I've played a lot of survival mode in fallout 4 and know a thing or two about sleeping
1. The stats for sleep, hunger and thirst don't work like you'd expect them to with a number that reduces. The statuses trigger after a certain amount of time and you can't preemptively prevent them. So for sleep, when you get tired, sleeping 1 hour 8 times won't reduce your fatigue, you HAVE to sleep all 8 hours at once in order to not be tired.
2. You don't actually have to finish the sleep to save. If you confirm your option to sleep and then immediately cancel the sleep, you'll still save without passing time, therefore possibly a avoiding getting hungry or thirsty when you just wanted to save
which is why I would suggest the mod Sleep OR Save so that you don't have to sleep to save if you want to continue exploring and just have a fallback point
Doing a no-sleep save will still do a roll for disease I think. I haven't played Frost in a super long time, but I remember there was some annoying stuff if you keep spamming no-sleep saves, so it's not 100% safe.
Still better than nothing tho
@@BreakdancePeach for sure it does. I've never played Frost, only vanilla Survival, but I find the disease is still easier to deal with than getting thirsty/hungry when I just wanted a save, especially since you could still get even more tired of you don't sleep the full 8 hours
@@spiritcat103 idk, some diseases like Infection or Parasites are the worst. It's nbd in vanilla since you have healing, doctors, and food, but it's a pain in Frost. I hope you like being at 1HP a lot.
Also, the wiki never had this before, but there's now an explanation for how diseases are calculated :P -- Things like drugs, swimming, rain, etc increase the risk. If only I knew I **shouldn't** skip across water, that probably would've made Frost much less painful from the constant illness.
Funny how little this game tells you, I mean from that wiki, the disease mechanic is more realistic and deeper than 90% of the game (almost even at Zomboid levels), yet the Bethesda never hints at the disease system other than "oh yeah don't get sick lol".
@@BreakdancePeach i always forget about infections, but parasites weren't bad, though I can't speak for Frost since I only have Fallout 4 on PlayStation. Although, I'm pretty sure you get 3 auto saves so theoretically you could reload a save to avoid the disease, but you'd have to redo whatever you did in between again.
I would also love this to turn into a series, the Zomboid stuff is as amazing as usual, but the Gamma, Abiotic Factor, Long Dark & even older stuff like Dust and 7 Days really break up the content and prevent burn out!
7 days is actually getting its 1.0 release in a few months so lime could make a series out of that as well.
@@yuyaplays9311 Yeah exactly! I know these kinda’ series don’t pull in the numbers that PZ do, but it’s the variety of content on the channel that keeps me more interested here than I am with some others who do purely PZ content!
The thing where raiders vanished, it's the "death loop prevention" bugging out and removing enemies near your death location when your respawn is nowhere near. To avoid it, when you make your way back to the death zone and find nobody, you have to close the game

Nice to see the stealth mechanic being actually utilized for survival to avoid fights instead of just being a damage modifier to stealth kill everything.

Hey Lime, don't know if you want to add it for future episodes but since you mentioned not being able to sleep on couches there is a mod that let's you do this called Sofa Surfer. It will let you sleep on couches, and rest (like mattresses and sleeping bags) on chairs.

One tip for ammo in fallout 4 survival finding the actual gun that enemies drop vs picking them up out of their inventory will have a higher chance of you finding ammo still in their gun along with the ammo on their person

I think your ultimate goal if you do make this a series is to accrue enough supplies to actually build a settlement on the surface. It is VERY difficult but also possible.

Would be amazing if in a fallout game you could play as a vault dweller and it's been 20 years since the blast and now your one of the people who will have to go out and find supplies cause the situation in the vault is bad and you'd be able to save dwellers from other vaults etc while improving and building more stuff in your own vault

@Pr1vateLime I hope you did a lot of research on this mod and everything needed for it as the "Next Gen" update destroyed F4SE and I'm not sure if they have it updated, had it fixed then a "hot-patch" was released and then broke F4SE again. Not to mention the mod you are playing hasn't been updated since 12-22. There is also no guarantee how stable this mod will be and how much functionality is still there. I hope everything works good for you. Good luck and will be watching! :D
I love fallout, I love you, but most of all I love Actual Trash. You should turn this into a series!
You should also know that dying/reloading often causes a glitch that despawns most NPCs in the subway. So if you're ever wondering why an area is deserted or you haven't seen anyone in a while, that's why. It can be fixed by restarting the game

I love the FROST mod, played a it a bunch. It removes all the bad stuff of Fallout 4 (the story and dialouge) and ramps up the good part (the exploration and survival). Frankly I think the survival mode is what made Fallout 4 truly click

I played Frost years ago, and diseases suuucked. They're the same as vanilla but with less ways to deal with them. If you want your Frost playthrough to be less _constantly diseased,_ read the Independent Fallout wiki's (not Fandom) explanation of disease calculation. The game never explains these even a little, like that swimming or drugs increase disease chances.
Also, sleeping creates a roll for getting sick. If you overdo it on sleep saves like I did, you'll constantly get diseases -- Even if you follow the other comments' advice to "cancel the sleep for saving", it _still_ does a roll for disease.

Try starting as a ghoul and taking the "Ghoulish" perk. It makes the mod very easy
Though it makes social encounters more difficult.

Damn, survivor mode makes your character very squishy. This seems to have potential for a fun series!
Yeah to the point it makes anything but power armour pointless. You're better off just using armour for its side benefits than relying on it to protect you.
If you VATS you can see if they are friendly or not
Seeing as youre playing Frost, i wish you well for your mental sanity. Both real and in game.
And really do recommend some sort of save mod where you dont have to sleep. Since fo4's sleep mechanics suck.
Also horde your empty bottles so you can fill them with water
A bit of advice, maybe a word of warning.
This mod is not for everyone. The Croquet and Bouquet Torture is real with this mod. You will either:
A) die immediately because of overconfidence
B) use up all your supplies for very little payoff and eventually waste away and die pathetically
C) go insane, have to go with a CQC build because you can't aim for shit, and die either stage-diving a pack of ghouls or by an impromptu gun-barrel taste test from a hostile survivor.
Get your ass into Downtown as soon as possible, by any means necessary. It's the only place you want to be, because everywhere else isn't.

Deffo recommend getting a save mod. A modded bethesda save is not something I would leave up to a terrible sleep mechanic. Especially if you’re recording it.
It pains me to see you not drag that irradiated ghoul out of your little safe room to use the bed. Dragging bodies around is a time honoured tradition (even if you would take some serious rads doing so)
Why does this feel weird to watch? But at the same time really cool and fresh? lol

To be honest Frost is infinitely better than Dust and its horribly balanced combat encounters, even for a hardcore mod.

Lime, people at the Frost server mentioned your load order is broken... Honestly, such things can really destroy how a mod is presented, it's a reason why FROST has a shoddy reputation to begin with. If you may, let me help you fix the load order

Fallout frost is considered the hardest mod at all time
It's not hard per say. It's just a disorganized mess of competing mechanics. The hidden sanity one being the most half baked and bug ridden one of them.
The rest are easy enough to cheese. For example you can start as a ghoul and than take the ghoulish perk. The Surface than becomes safer than the tunnels. Only downside is people shoot you on sight.
Fair enough you would think. But killing them starts that sanity plunging and the debuff starts stacking the game becomes neigh unplayable. Because apparently even self defense is bad.
But what do you expect out of a soy boy mod author.
Bethesda fallout is a pale imitation of fallout.
Lime stop killing everyone. You lose sanity for every human you kill in Frost.
The sanity mechanic is a wonderful mechanic that has no terrible mechanics tied to it at all.

@@clothar23you can drink booze, pop mentats, calmex and thorazine to counter it but it is a stupid feature. and once you go insane theres no going back. The real terrible mechanic is the innate gun spread that you can only counter by taking perks.
