    Enjoying watching the work on the MG. It was these older cars my Dad worked on when I was growing up before he died. I never really got to do much work on them and my experience has been on newer things, so I really enjoy seeing these things done where maybe I can take on some “older technology” soon with some better understanding.

      @teenaramsay2469 4 роки тому

      There is a step cam on the carb throttle shaft which activates when you choke it to start. This raises the idle to stop stalling after you push the choke control back in. Crude but effective. You cancel the step by blipping the throttle...or steadily accelerating to "road speed'". Which is why the idle fell outside the shed when he parked it and blipped the accelerator. (Past user/owner of many quirky English cars).

    Hey well done Randy! I love your honesty when you make mistakes so we can all learn. As my old Dad used to say: "Every day is a school day".
    That car really just needs a good detailing, buff the paint, deep clean in the interior, free up the drophead and heat release the creases. Get all the fittings out of the engine bay, clean and paint, T cut the engine bay paint etc etc. Add some carpet for the boot and rear of the car. This will not cost a lot of dollars just elbow grease and time but it WILL add Dollars to the value.
    And PLEASE keep it original. She has survived so well. To be honest adding a Weber setup really needs another cam to make it work well. She is what she is: A 45 year old lady.
    Oh and that cover you found in the boot (sorry trunk)? You can leave that on all the time and just unzip the driver's side to drive it.
    Again well done Randy - Enjoy that 'B'....

      Actually I never had any problems with the BL cars I owned with the electrics - they were very reliable cars but then again I looked after and serviced my own cars and never used cheap parts in my cars - that was the big problem and not just with BL cars was people and garages using cheap parts and then blaming the car or manufacturer or Lucas when the car broke down or had problems.

    I had never seen your channel before but am really enjoying this! I have a '69 MGB and agree there's something really direct in the way it handles that's just absent in more modern cars. One suggestion I'll make is to check the inside of the new tires for labels before installing. I put a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws on my MGB and had a flat about a month later. Turns out there were labels (stickers) on the inside of each tire that were able to gradually cut through the tubes. Your tires may be fine, but be sure to take a look.

    Euro spec Chrome bumpers would look amazing with the wire wheels

    • @2DogsVlogs
      @2DogsVlogs 4 роки тому +2

      The '74 chrome bumpers would be hard to find as it was only built for 6 months. Leyland dropped it for the cheaper '74.5 Rubbernose. I never see a Rubbernose but still see quite a few Type II's. They look more of a classic with their chrome bumpers. People bought the Ford Capri or Escort rather than a poorly built Leyland product.

    • @jaden.sanderson
      @jaden.sanderson 4 роки тому

      The chrome bumpers make these cars look rather sharp.

    • @williamwoods8022
      @williamwoods8022 4 роки тому

      @@2DogsVlogs Oh dear! I never had any problems with the Leyland cars I owned - a 1978 Morris Marina 1.8 HL/TC, 1980 Austin Allegro 1750 TC Equipe and 1983 Austin Mini 1.0 Mayfair and neither did my brother and mother etc with the Marinas and Allegros etc that they owned which were excellent and very reliable cars. Then again we looked after and serviced out own cars and never used cheap parts in them and for you to say that Ford Escorts and Capris were better shows how ignorant and bigoted that you are - a Ford fan boy - when people like me who used Ford Escorts and Cortinas in the company we worked for - we had one Capri at one time only because Ford were on strike at the time again so the company took the Capri because they would have had a long wait for a Cortina - none of us ever bought a Ford product after we left that company because they went through engines and gear boxes as if they were wear and tear items and our company did not change to another manufacturer as we wanted because Ford just fixed the cars under warranty and because that was how Ford got the sales in the first place by selling cheap to companies. Ford are still one of the worst for rusting today as well compared to most other cars now as well and they were one of the worst for rotting out back then as well. MGs back then were actually better built because they were all built by hand in the same MG factory that they had always been built in and not one of the main mass produced factories.

      @@kolasillers7776 It's not 'European' bumpers, it's just pre-1974 bumpers. Yes, the plastic bumper facelift was done because of US regulation but the European and UK market cars got it too. This one is early enough to look ok with chrome bumpers due to the 'older' style dashboard. On the '76 and up cars it looks pretty rediculous and obvious as anyone who knows these cars can see it's a conversion.
