    In case you are keeping Track this is Video # 99 of Classic Car ChitChat Videos!
    I hope my Classic Car ChitChat videos make you smile. I do them in my spare time because I truly love cars and my intentions are simply to honour the beautiful cars I get to see and to really understand the passion and love of the vehicle by the driver (or caretaker as Jay Leno would say) of the car. I also understand too that my videos perhaps lack the polish calibre of great UA-camrs like: Doug DeMuro, Scotty Kilmer, and of course my favourite Supercar Blondie. I also know that I can’t even come close the quality & finish you get from the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and the boys at Top Gear. I think they use a little fancier equipment than my little iPhone… LOL
    Mission Statement:
    My Objective through creating these videos is to shine the spotlight on people who love their vehicles whether it be a car, motorcycle, or even a bicycle…. Bottom line is if it has wheels and you love it then let’s show that passion to the world!
    Equipment Used:
    Camera
    Just an iPhone SE (Nothing fancy - which proves anyone can use whatever you have handy to make a video… you don’t need really expensive equipment)
    I also use Insta 360X2 which is perhaps one of the best investments I have made and allows me to capture some really cool 360 degree views and also creates a “drone like” effect with the invisible selfie stick attachment.
    Gimbal - DJI OM4 - For that ultra-smooth cinematic look. (To be honest... still not quite sure how to use it but one day I will figure it out!)
    Audio - Rode Wireless GO II (I gotta be honest… this is really the biggest investment that was made… I wish there was a cheaper option but after the first couple of videos I soon realized that audio quality is important and hopefully better than the onboard mic on the iPhone!
    Contact Details: If you have any questions or just want to chat you can reach me through all the (non-traditional) typical ways through the following:
    Facebook - / classiccarchitchat
    Instagram - / classiccarchitchat
    Email - classiccarchitchat@gmail.com
    If you have read this far, then I thank you. As always, I truly appreciate your “thumbs-up”, and by leaving your comments it demonstrates to me that I managed to get you involved and hopefully made you smile. Most importantly when you subscribe to my channel then you are truly acknowledging my effort to help share with others like you my passion and love for “all things that have wheels” and honouring the people who take care of them.
    Thank You
    Kevin

    I have 3 rubber bumper MGB`s. A `78 (seasonal) daily driver roadster with older `80`s restoration & recent Weber sidedraft carb vs the Stromberg. Also have a `76 (no-title) parts car and 3rd MG is a titled 1975 Anniversary Edition w/5-sp overdrive trans. I aqcuired it a couple yrs ago with blown head gasket, overheated no doubt. Yes, these things run the temp up fast in busy traffic so I installed the parts car radiator in addition to the one in my `78 daily, plumbed to the other, not a difficult task with flexible hose. There`s a single electric thermostat fan in front of the stock rad, making the space for the additional rad + hoses.
    I`m hoping to get to work on the `75 any day, I`m a lot more stoked on it now after watching your video!
    Oh ya...I hate shoulder-belts and replaced my `78 with lap-only belts, personal pref. And yes! That dang windshield top header-bar is terrible for blocking streetlights in front above.
    Have a great day & new car sub!

      Hi No Malarkey ( love the name) you are in my book an official collector of these lovely little cars. Good to hear too you have a donor card. You are correct too about the windshield top bar.. I too duck up and down to see the lights. My son recently purchased a 97 Miata and it seems the Mazda engineers had thought about this and created positioning that somehow mitigated that issue.
      I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for taking the time to watching my videos, leaving a comment and for subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it.
      My intention when creating these videos is to showcase not only the beautiful car but give the owner an opportunity to share their story, love and passion for their car. Thanks again Kevin.

    MGBs are great little cars that are fun, dependable, get decent gas mileage without all the computer crap. Easy to work on no matter what the model year. I've driven the wheels off of the 4 that I owned. Miss them. Surprisingly good in the snow 8" or below in depth. Never got stuck. Great weight ratio balance. Do your maint on time & they'll give you lots of fun miles. Loved my 68 model the best. Red, knock off chrome wire wheels, black leather seats. All stock from the factory.

I will replace these 14 year old tires in the spring and plan on sprucing it up for next summer in the spring . It's fun to drive with a torquee little engine . It's old school like i am .

    Awesome video! Do you know what the original uk list price was for the mgb roadster in 1975?

    • @ClassicCarChitChat
      @ClassicCarChitChat  4 місяці тому +1

      Bavskijt, it’s a great question.. I believe the 75 sold for $4,300 USD, and the 73 was a little more pricier at around $3,600 USD. This roughly was about $25,000 in today’s money. Which was a little higher than the average salary back in the day.

Perhaps you can contact the MG society in the UK and with your VIN number they should be able to provide some details. In fact I would like to get that done for my 73 too.😊

    I see the dash is cracked.... they all did that... But they are right, you definitely need a fifth gear.... If you desmog the car, put in an aftermarket electronic ignition, and go back to twin SU carbs you'd have something that quite drivable.

    • @ClassicCarChitChat
      @ClassicCarChitChat  5 місяців тому

      Glen, the crack is there. It was actually re-skinned by the previous owner about 15 years ago. I will wait until it’s much worse and then take care of that and the seats later. I like the idea of the SU carbs. 👍

    1975 was the beginning of the worst years for MG. The RBB was a disgraceful disaster. It is NOT in any way, shape, or form an MGB.
    This is not a "restored" car. It is a feeble attempt at an apology for MG having created an abomination.

      Just your opinion thankfully. I have owned both rubber bumper and chrome models and can say without doubt the later cars are much better in every way. I personally prefer the plastic bumpers, they were a great solution to the American legislation at the time and have generally become much more acceptable within the UK snotty-nosed classic car movement. Nothing worse than some chump who has converted rubber bumpers to chrome, usually badly, and added a red paint job and chrome wires - yawn fest!! 😂

    • @jeffhildreth9244
      @jeffhildreth9244 Рік тому

      Why "thankfully" ? .. it is a widely held opinion... no, not an opinion an observation.
      Greater weight, cheaper materials, 30 less horsepower than the original, nearly a third reduction. Heavy and pimped.
      I do agree with the usual rubber bumper conversion as an expensive hack job...but there are other options available which are, in my opinion superior.. but I'll keep that source to myself.
      I would use an RBB as a rally car..high off the ground and anything you could or would do to the RBB would be an improvement.
