Perhaps the silliest basketball fight of all-time… Seems to me like the players got off the hook easy because coaches were being jackasses.

stupid thing for Howard to get angry about when he took a similar timeout at the end of a game with his team a couple weeks previously. Gard touched him first but it looked like he was trying to explain what he was doing rather than fight, Howard grabs him by the shirt right after that, then the assistant coaches get there and separate them. Then both coaches initially do the right thing and back away, and it looks like everything is gonna be fine. Then Howard runs back in like a dumbass and throws his little slap shot and all hell breaks loose.
bottom line to me is Howard should've never escalated things like that and put his players at risk in a hostile environment whenever things were starting to cool down. You can't take a swing at somebody while you're on the job, especially not as the leader of a major university on live TV. He deserves a pretty good suspension - I don't think they'll fire him but he ought to be on notice that anything like this happens again and you're gone.
