my biggest regret: not fully understanding daughter on my first listen. i loved it!! but i didn’t fully get what she was saying and the layers to this song
now it is in my top three and i 100% get it

She gave us the past, preset, and future of country. Ultimately, she blurred the lines and told us country is a 'melting pot'. She is a limitless artist.

All the people singing on Blackbird with Beyoncé are black female country artists. Pull them up and give them some shine on Spotify, that’s part of why Beyoncé included all these black country artists.

I'm 15 mins in and I'm really enjoying your reaction. You're taking the time to research if you don't know something to give yourself and the viewer more context instead of just plowing through.

What she did with this album, it put all the different genres of country from which extended from country or let up to country by black folks all in one album with the album and all the songs other than the true ballads. They are little moments of homage to rock and heavy metal, you have to listen requiem is queen come on y’all think

The sound you were trying to figure out is a dolly reference...it's the sound of acrylic nails rubbing together. Dolly used to play her nails. Also tyrant is a sad song to a trap beat. Becky is the hangman. She's asking Becky how she did it and to teach her how to do what "he" likes. Beyonce is a phenomenon. "I whisper secrets in the backbeat" headass lol

In Body guard she didn’t like the way that girl was looking at her man, in Jolene she warned the girl, & in Daughter she reminded that girl that she’s her father’s daughter (with Louisiana roots from her mother).

The Chitlin Circuit sustained Black musicians + performers during the era of racial segregation in the USA🇺🇸 from the 1930s-1960s well into Jim Crow. Beyoncé is working part time as a historian providing teachings via context clues in her imagery + live performances.
🐎🤠Cowboy Carter is a bold, ambitious album in Beyoncé’s discography-an audio museum emceed by country legends Willie Nelson + Dolly Parton. We get transported inside Honey B’s country music’s hallowed halls to find Linda Martell whom became the first commercially successful Black female artist in the country music field and the first to play the Grand Ole Opry. Beyoncé pays it forward cutting checks to the current Black Birds of country music today. What a legacy she is carving out and will leave behind.
    Top 5:
Tyrant/Sweet Honey Buckin 👑🐎(trap country to dance house country sub genre)
Ya Ya (Tina Turner + Little Richard tributes)
    🙌🏾🙌🏾 II Heaven (Jodeci feels)
Desert 🦅 (Chaka Khan-esque bass riffs. Double entendre of a 🔫 or a sex position)
Bodyguard (Sheryl Crow ran so Julius could run)

the lore of this album runs so deep it’ll be studied in universities for years just like self-titled, lemonade and renaissance have been.
the concept of a woman’s drunken night spent listening to a radio station is SO well executed. she goes from lamenting about america’s horrid past, to reminiscing on her childhood, to struggling as a parent, to imagining her mother’s heartache and seeking revenge, to getting high and experiencing a bad trip, to falling in love and losing it then finding it again, imagining herself in a movie, coming down, picking herself up and leaving the bar.
all of this executed while also paying homage to americana/folk and country’s black roots, weaving together interpolations and samples from a whole host of other collaborators.
she really is a master of her craft AND a student of the past, always paying homage to those who came before her in order to push culture and art FORWARD.
34 years in this business and she ain’t slowing down yet. a LEGEND.
many laymans will continue to appear foolish due to their lack of comprehension regarding this album and indeed her career as a whole.
