Maybe the best video I’ve ever seen about Weezer? You’re a passionate and honest creator, plz keep up the good work so the internet can hear more of your thoughts!
AHHHH I LOVE PINKERTON ITS MY FAVORITE ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! me and my best friend have matching pinkerton and blue album shirts and i love it so much!!!!! sorry to reply to your comment so late but you're so real for this 🫶🫶
This is so good, I'm also a massive Weezer fan, theyre my favorite artist and you summed up my thoughts perfectly. Ive been working hard at making my own video essays recently to get better at film making because im a film student and this is actually inspiring to me the editing and cinematography is so good
real. don't burn weezer merch until allegations are proven true. if proven false, save your weezer merch! (getting sznz merch for my bday in a month probably)
amazing video dude i cant even put into words how many parts of this video is perfect.. but i'll try anyways! the camerawork was amazing, all the shot compositions were really good. the music choices were great, along with the audio mixing. the writing was perfect, you basically said everything i was thinking. the voiceover was nice, the emotion in the voice was as well. and the editing was absolutely amazing. i've watched a *lot* of videos about weezer, and i must say, this is probably the best.
I typed out a long comment and decided I didn’t like it after I posted it , which is why it was deleted! Anyway, I’ve just spent 7 days cramping 30 years of Weezer’s music and it has me convinced I LOVE Weezer as a band. I was ONLY a Blue album fan since 94 when I was also 15. The songwriting was just brilliant and I hadn’t heard anything like it in a modern band at the time. They were hooky but also not and they may have been cheesy but they were not! I actually came a cross your video as I’m going to be doing a Weezer Behind the Music video to celebrate if my Weezer 30, Blue, box set unboxing hits 100 views. I have less than 20 videos up and less than 15 subs but I’m having fun. I’ll have to check the rest of your videos out. 👍🏻
Hey man just wanna encourage you, this is insanely good quality for a relatively small channel. Definitely keep it up man and your channels gonna blow up brother
Hearing Endless Bummer, Dope Nose, Death and Destruction, etc. took me back to my middle school years where I found solace in Weezer for the very same reasons you do. They were the out-there band who had mainstream success that outcasted me needed. Even if I don’t listen to them as much anymore, I will still never regret buying their CDs or seeing them live in 2018. Wonderfully produced video :)
I’ve only owned the blue album, Pinkerton and Hurley. I was a Lost fan, so I didn’t mind the weirdness. I do prefer them w/ Matt Sharp though. The first Rentals album was pretty good.
you know as a weezer fan this sums it up pretty good also i tend to think the accusations on Brian are false mostly because of bias but also they're just accusations
yeah man i think so too because the evidence (screenshots from twitter) were cropped so really they could have been from anyone. also most of it is just "trust me bro"
Wow I love this!!! I definitely relate with this sentiment as a person who loves a show which has a rough ending and now not many people are a fan of it anymore 😔 at the end of the day, art means different things to different people and it’s valid to enjoy whatever it is that you enjoy! (As long as it isn’t harming anyone of course)
That last part of the video, specifically the speech about how even if 1 guy is bad doesn't mean we should discredit the whole band was actually no joke pretty impactful, keep on wheezing.
Incredible video, I would add a few observations I had since I became a Weezer fan recently : 1) They fall under a lot of expectations on what people expect them to be, call it Blue-Pinkerton effect. They had moved on and they try new things (imo, the Black album, heck, even Make Believe is good, but most people don't want them to make such music). 2) Rivers Cuomo is an amazing songwriter and he has made lots of incredible demos that could rival their best albums if it made in one or wasn't ruined by run of the mill production (imo, I think it makes Weezer more charming, but for most people, it fuels the frustration even more) 3) Another thing I love about Weezer is how unpredictable (and weird, as you said) they are, and as you pointed earlier, the fact that they can release something great once in a while is a sign that they are still relevant unlike some other bands that don't work anymore. (Wish they made a more interesting cover album though)
What a lovely video. Weezer used to be my favorite band a few years ago, so I can relate to where this video is coming from. I think a lot of the hate stems from the perception that Weezer fans are lame virgins, but I think we all wear that name with pride.
Exhibit C is the strongest imo but slightly diff. He'll write the greatest song I've ever heard and then write a line thats so embarassing to say. Tragic Girl is one my fav songs of all time but I dont want to say im sorry mama ive been a dirty boy. froma fellow weezer fan, great vid.
Approaching 40 years old now. I don’t like the Blue Album much although I like a few songs. I can see how it was unique at the time. Pinkerton had soul. Everything they’ve done since then lacks any soul. I know there’s no way to quantify that but you can tell Weezer with Matt Sharp vs. Weezer post-Matt Sharp. I don’t care for Matt’s solo stuff. But there was clearly an energy or dynamic when Rivers Cuomo and Matt Sharp were young guys trying to get the band together and capitalize on their success versus what they are now. They had a personality and wanted to do something unique. They’re middle-aged me now. They’re more concerned with maintaining their standard of living than they are with creating innovative music.
I know this comes out of nowhere but the chords you where playing in exhibit C happen to be the same as a beautiful song called "tant qu'on aura de l'amour". This greatly enhanced the video for me
i think people say weezer sucks, because they havent actually listened, or better yet they think people overrate weezer,(maybe diehard fans do sure but in general i dont see this is the case lol), so in contrast they think they suck, i think they are very good, not amazing, just very good, and i think thats a fair assesment
now i am a loser band enthusiast, 2 of my absolute favorite bands are radiohead and car seat headrest, and i love neutral milk hotel and i used to love weezer a lot. my standpoint is i grew up with the blue and green album so yeah they are special to me BUT anymore blue and pinkerton are the two i think are just the best. i think the points made in the problematic where it shows rivers as who not to be is the point as you said, and weezers whole thing originally was making uncool cool. but i do think after pinkerton they lost that charm. pinkerton was hated at release which really negatively affected rivers, thats why they went back to traditional in green. with green it just feels forced though, and like wasted potential to me. i feel like if they stuck with the emotion put into pinkerton then the band would be looked at better over time but yk they needed the money im sure and also we dont want the members to live in misery and thats why they tried to stick to something. to give credit though they have experimented with stuff like raditude but again i think it was to fit in with the pop trends at the time. a friend of mine put it pretty good one time “green is like if radiohead dropped kid a, people didnt like it, and went back to pablo honey because creep was popular”. nowadays i dont hate weezer though, i find blue, pinkerton, and white to be good albums but the rest to me is just okay. im glad though you have stuck with what you like and not let other’s opinions get to you, tbh that’s something ive failed to do. great video!
Amazing video, i always loved weezer and helped me throught the darkest times of my live. weezer is just a nerdy band for nerdy people thats why people love it so much. i mean its meant to be good but not in a objective music way like pink floyd king crimson or beatles. its meant to be good in a goofy way thats where it gets its charm. even thought it has depressing lyrics its still a lil goof ball of a band i love it
I just think its a combination of their image as dorks vs other alt-rock/pop rock band images plus the asian fetish meme plus the fact that they do in fact have a lot of garbage songs. I don't think its an actual thing that they suck suck (their songs still trend) they're just funny to make jokes about. most memes about them are literally just that the blue album cover is funny and weezer fans are virgins (which is true)
@@Chromeno not all of their demos come from the alone albums + only alones 1-3 are getting copyrighted because they're the only ones that are not only on weezify. and the ones that are on deluxes could get copyrighted too.
