I bought the Covergirl velour puffs at Wal-Mart and I like using them. I just wash mine by hand in the sink with either my unscented bar soap or my hair shampoo, then let them dry on a towel. It works great.😀
I don’t have a drugstore mascara recommendation, but something that has been a game changer for me is the essence lash primer. It makes my lashes look out of this world long and curled and voluminous with any mascara I use. It’s $4.99 and WAY better than the Chanel or Dior Lash primers!
I would never spend the money on Chanel or Dior lash primers….I do like Urban Decay Perversion, though. There are also other great lower priced options. Milani makes a pretty decent one, and so does L’Oréal.
I live by lash primer too, the essence one did not work for me, but the l'oreal lash paradise is my holy grail. I go through them, so I buy them two at a time
Rimmel is now cruelty free. I seen it months ago and then did some research and they are cruelty free. They’re owned but coty like covergirl. I found it on ethical bunny and many other sites including their own. I state this first because traditionally they were not in the past; so they’re in like a “grey area” since they have been certified yet. Anyway they have a new foundation/powder/and mascara in their kind and free line. I have been wanting to try the new mascara/makeup.
I actually love using a dry blending sponge to apply powder. I have the itty bitty ones to set my undereyes too! I have the Physicians Formula Talc-Free Mineral Airbrushing Pressed Powder SPF 30 that I switched out the little brush and put a puff in for on the go touch-ups.
Fun fact: in germany, we call the ballclump „fliegenfüße“ which translates to „flyfeet“ 😂😂😂 and imo if that happens the lashes really do look like flyfeet lol love your hair btw ❤️❤️
Ulta's tubing mascara has absolutely ruined me, I'm never going back to normal or waterproof formulas. 😂 But I'll gladly watch other mascara reviews anyway!
Omg I was listening to you describing the mascara and it sounded right up my alley. I also looked at your lashes, which are incredible, and thought “Hold on, Kelly has half-lashes on, this looks so perfect” and then you said that it’s just the mascara!!! I now really want to try it
I'm so excited to try the elf Halo primer/filter - and FWIW, my understanding is that the quality of the ingredients is out of this world, particularly for a brand as affordable as elf so it's 100% worth the money. $14 is SO AFFORDABLE and it blows the price of CT out of the water. Hadn't heard about that Ulta mascara but I am ALWAYS on the hunt for a new tubing mascara so I will be heading straight out to pick it up. SO excited to try that too! Thanks for always highlighting products that others aren't talking about that otherwise would fly under the radar. You're such a gem!
I love the messy bun look on you too! And your makeup looks like a perfect summer glow! Its beautiful. I'd look like a sweaty mess from from the gym if I tried that. Lol
Oh my gosh I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Persona Bubble blush! I have the cream multi stick one not the powder and I love it and it lasts on me so well on its own for a cream blush formula!! 💓💓💓
Omg Kelly, you have to try the Elf camo concealer sponge! Not only is it fantastic under the eye, but it is the most similar in squishiness to the Original Beauty Blender sponge.
When you started talking about a mascara, I thought you’d mention the Pacifica, which I just ordered per your recommendation 😊 Th Essence Lash Princess mascara is really good, it’s just a bit difficult to remove in my opinion.
Believe Beauty mascara all the way! The purple tube is SO good. Def my fav affordable mascara. You can just keep layering it on for more drama, and it never gets clumpy!
Personally, I am a big fan of Ulta mascaras, I feel they are great and affordable. I feel they get overlooked a lot but they are very good. They have one in a pink packaging that has a tiny applicator and that is a complete dupe for them Item beauty mascara if not better. My favorite is the one in the red packaging with the wand that twists. Also the paw paw sponges (that you can now get at Amazon!) are amazing!!!!! One of the best sponges I’ve used next to beauty blender.
You may have already tried it, but I find Lash Blast Clean is really good; No clumping, tearing, or transfer. I find looking for drugstore mascara annoying, so I'm excited to see what you recommend!
Yes, I love this mascara! It comes in both waterproof and not waterproof. That's how I found it, a year ago - I was rubbing off eyelashes trying to wash off my waterproof mascara every night, and I finally decided that, since I don't break down crying every single day or go swimming with makeup on, I really didn't need a waterproof mascara. So I went to the drugstore and was just randomly looking for mascara brands that had two versions hanging there on display. I came across this and was like, "Why not? Looks good." I've been devoted to it ever since - it's so good!
Just wanted to note about using cheek products on the lips. Even though the formula is liquid and doesn't move on the cheeks, the skin of our lips is very different and liquid blush may not be transfer proof there. That's just my experience I thought I would share ❤️
I almost exclusively use essence mascaras, because I think essence is AMAZING at doing mascara and they’re also the most affordable. I try out different ones, currently I’m using the lash princess one and really like it. But I think my top favorite is the „I love extreme“ one, the one in the black tube with the pink writing on it. 🥰
i love love your blush placement & bronzer… some youtubers look like blush & bronzer was applied by a toddler…. so heavy handed…. your makeup is always done wonderfully
I am really not a primer person bc I never feel they do anything or just don’t work with the products I apply on top. The essence one I ABSOLUTELY LOVE! It completely changed how my base looks and I am amazed!
The elf sponge I love. It is the best sponge to me. I do use a velour puff but only in areas want a blur. I use a brush for other areas when i put on a powder. I have hand washed the puff I have. It cleans up nice.
i’m loving the hair, and with this intense weather, i have my hair up all the time as well. i’ve been meaning to try that ulta mascara, and i really want to try the makeup revolution liquid blushes. 💜💜💜
Haven’t seen anyone mention the Covergirl Flourish mascara in the green/teal tube. Great separating and lengthening with no clumps! Excited to check out the Ulta mascara, looks so nice on you
It's been out a for a few years now but I love the NYX On The Rise mascara but rarely see anyone talking about it! I know it's a favourite of Laura Lee and Allie Glines. I tried it after seeing Julia Adams test it against the Maybelline Sky High when everyone was going wild about it - spoiler she thought it was even better! I haven't seen many others even review it xx
I would love if you could try the covergirl anti aging plumping mascara! I've been super curious to try it as it's new (to Canada anyways) but I'm just not sure if it's worth it as the only covergirl mascara I've ever had luck with is the exhibitionist!
I bought the elf halo glow from the elf website. I had points to use so I got $10 off plus free shipping. I can't wait to try it. I wanted something that I could mix with the Estee Lauder double wear stay in place foundation. I recently bought it and I like it, but I feel like it starts to look like cracks on me, almost like its too tight. I thought I could try something that is a little glowy to loosen it up a little.
I recommend the Heimish Dailism Smudge Stop Mascara! I don't think it's technically drugstore since it's only online i think/ it's $13 on amazon. But you can find it for cheaper on different sites w/ longer shipping times. It lasts all day at my job where I work in a hot kitchen
I love velour puffs to set my under eyes. I currently use the beauty blender one but I find it too big, i now want a slimmer one! Kelly, just out of curiosity, have you ever tried/wanted to try anything from rare beauty? The brand just arrived here in Brazil and I realized I’ve never seen you talk about it!!
@@KellyGooch actually I got my mascara in my boxy charm and it was probably one of my favorite discoveries through the subscription.. then bought cream blush which I love! But they recently released a liquid highlight that I am very curious about.. I have only heard good things about the actual products and they are somewhat affordable at sephora.. please do try some in a video 🙂
I don’t consider Ulta makeup “drugstore” because I have to drive all the way to Ulta to get it, which is not convenient….drugstore isn’t just about low prices. However, the Ulta mascara sounds great. I do use volumizing mascaras, but you are right - the clumping and overdone lashes look is not a look I think is very flattering.
I get what you're saying but most people categorize more drugstore makeup as either stuff you get in an actual drugstore, Walmart, etc or stuff sold on the drugstore side of Ulta. It's more price for most people than convenience. Although for me personally the most convenient is Ulta because I can order online and I have no makeup stores anywhere near me. Just a very small Walgreens and Walmart. Anyway that whole thing just to say most people use drugstore to mean more affordable. Lol
My hair is very thick, so I get it thinned & wear it layered/shoulderr length in order to wear it naturally wavy or to be able to wear it "up." But even still, my loose buns always turn into croissants lol. Now I just twist & clip with an extra large octopus claw hair clip & don't bother with hair pins anymore. ( I could never wear a high & tight ponytail, it pulled so much & always gave me a headache) I really like those ELF sponges. The texture is perfect, & so is the size/angle since I apply my foundation & loose powder with a sponge. Using a brush irritates my skin. I don't like spraying anything directly into my face since it always gets on my shirt & in my hair, so I spray my sponge with primer or setting spray & that can change the finish of my makeup. What I really like about those ELF sponges is that they clean very easily & don't seem to stain or rip compared to the RT sponges. Mine have really lasted. I have several & at the end of the week I empty the Dirty Bucket into the sink & soak all the sponges I used for a few minutes then clean them with whatever liquid cleaner I have on hand. When they are dry, they go back in the Clean Bucket to be used during the upcoming week. It doesn't really take very long :)
Kelly can you please test the Bye Bye Panda Eyes from Essence? I've been wanting to see it. I love tubing mascaras because they don't seem to flake off, and this is allegedly a tubing mascara.
i have using these elf sponges for fricking ever and honestly I thinking there better than the beauty blenders at least the pink one because I have had it before and when I started cleaning it the sponge would bleed pink but this sponge doesn't bleed at all so I love that. I usually just buy the two pack from the drug store and I am set for a while.
I've always deferred to the velour sponge for powder application. My Mom, who did stage makeup, swore by that method. Just be careful washing them -I've shrunk a few too many in the regular wash or using water that's too warm. Not all puffs are created equally!.
Watching your application videos lately, idk how you do makeup without a sponge. I have to go over my foundation and concealer with a sponge no matter what
I've been getting more into lengthening mascara. I love volumizing mascara but the clumps were driving me crazy -- if you haven't already, I like the Covergirl Lash Blash mascara (it's orange). I want to try the Ulta mascara but I'm going to wait for your mascara video before getting one, I like to only have 1-2 open at a time so I want to see the comparison haha. Also to wash your puffs: I have a different style puff but I used a bar of soap and just rub the puff on it (same one I use to wash my sponges) and it worked like a charm!
I'm always up for trying a new mascara. It's my weakness. I know you use eyelash serum but I really thought you had false lashes on until you said that you didn't. Wow! Your lashes look lovely. I'm definitely going to try that mascara. Thanks!
I feel like Elf prices the halo glow filter so high because they knew they could. I dont think there are any other cf dupes for the CT at the drugstore and the full size elf is not only a fraction of the price of the product it obviously is trying to dupe, but it is also cheaper than the mini of the CT. Also highly recommend the Elf Lash it Loud mascara for drugstore mascara. Its my fave
That mascara looks a LOT like the Item Beauty Lash Snack mascara, and your description reminds me of exactly how I feel the lash snack is. I wonder if they have the same lab? 🤔
Yes I love the messy bun on you and with the hoops! 👌🏼💕😊 Omg I hate the ball clump, and enjoy ur affordable Fridays so much!
Same! I'm always picking the little ball off with my fingers!
I bought the Covergirl velour puffs at Wal-Mart and I like using them. I just wash mine by hand in the sink with either my unscented bar soap or my hair shampoo, then let them dry on a towel. It works great.😀
Same. I wash them the same way I was my beauty sponges and they hold up great. They dry pretty fast too.

Pressing powder into the skin with a puff also helps with blurring pores.
