I have never been a U2 fan, but wow this song brings me to tears, it fits so well with Pavarotti singing his solo part on it, its so immensely packed with emotion. Its a masterpiece.
Yes, it brings me to tears also - because it's so reflective of the destruction of human life all over again - this time in Ukraine. When will we ever learn to allow others to live in peace?

I grew up in a part of Sarajevo that can be seen on this video and it's called "Marijin Dvor" . I was a teenager during the war. I remember all these passages through the buildings. People ... My heart just breaks into pieces.... when I remember friends killed by snipers and grenades from the hills. Yes, this song is the anthem of our war youth. Thanks to all of you.
We have been fighting for one thousand years, and we will keep fighting. Nothing will take Sarajevo or Bosnia away from us. Even when the world turned it's head, and we were surrounded on all sides, we came out alive.
I was born in very late 80s in Bosnia, some of my first childhood memories were having to flee our home and live in surrounded areas for 3 and a half years. I didn't live in Sarajevo, which was a horror on its own during those times, but every place in the country was in one way or another destroyed by the invaders. I just remember hearing this song for the first time waaaay later, maybe mid 2000s when everything was over and I was a teenager looking for new music. I couldn't actually believe they held Miss competition, Eurovision competition, even started up a movie festival that grew to become the biggest film festival in the Balkans nowadays. Survivors in the war, and especially the resilience of civilians, is such an inspiring thing. I never wish on anyone to have to experience that kind of fear, as a kid or as a grown up. But at the same time, in a very weird way, it helped me become a better man. Don't get me wrong, I'd still like to beat the shit out of all those quasi-soldiers who shot at my hometown when I just wanted to play outside like a normal kid. Then I'd throw them in lifetime prison.

I didn't know much about this war. The beauty of this song has led me to broaden my knowledge about the way Sarajevo people tackle this terrible conflict. They kept on living in a "normal" way as much as they could, meeting other people, playing music, socializing in underground tunnels and basements. Unbelievable. My deepest respect goes to these people, to their courage, resilience and stubbornness. ❤️

Que linda música! Inesquecível! Emoção ao ver a princesa Diana abraçando Luciano Pavarotti!
Tempos dourados
Muito bom aquela época,muitas saudades
Pavarotti era uno della mia regione:l'Emilia Romagna....era bravissimo!Unico come gli u2. :-D
This is heart-wrenching. Dedicated to all that fought and lost. As soon as Pavarotti bursts into song I burst into tears. Love for all .... 💖
I could cry over the suffering of all the people in this day and age when the rest of the world turned a blind eye. It's horrendous. An absolutely amazing song hopefully in tribute to those people who suffered.
2019! Essa música, me arrepia do começo ao fim! Espetacular!
linda a música . linda a letra.
That's a beautiful song. I remember watching it on The Box and always loved the Pavarotti part.

am now in Sarajevo and listening to this song,my wishes are there will be no more wars in Balkan and bright futures ahead to all the Balkan people and nations
Unfortunately there is still a lot of unfinished business in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kong TC still eh? my heart goes out to y'all. God Bless. 💖
the way you write this seems to indicate you are interested in finishing it...hope I am wrong
This is true. I wish you victory when the time comes.
Schöne Worte👍
Brian Eno. The bold one was certainly the inspiration for this song. He produced good U2 music. I believe the first two albums of U2.
i tried so many times but i can't watch this without tears in my eyes
Impossible!! Just impossible ❤️
Your not the only one this would make a stone cry.
Same here John
How are you doing
i know the feeling, it happens the same to me every time i hear it or see it
My tears roll down my face when i heard this the first time

Grazie

I cry when Pavarotti sings!
Choro quando ouço está Música!
that is normal when Pavarotti sings.
This song is so powerful, a contrast between the beauty of the song and the pageant and the ugliness and horror of fighting and war.
