I'd say the only way tech companies or the internet in general grew as big as they were is _because_ it was in a free market, with user freedom and choice being one of the most primary defining aspects of it. Many ideas were free to be tried out and evaluated.
I've been thinking that for a long time now. More laws (closed valves) doesn't mean less crime, it means MORE crime. People start hating that they have to put every aspect of their lives under a microscope, then run it through a filter or two and finally present it to a board of censors for final approval before saying/doing something where others might witness their actions. At some point, a person just snaps (boiler explodes) from all the judgement and penalties and fear of. Humans aren't meant to be controlled and somewhere deep down we all know it.

The sad truth, I pretty much gave up with most people on the left because no matter how much credit you gave them, agreed with them on certain issues and conceded when they made a valid point as far and few as they were. They would never afford the same to anyone not in their same bubble. Disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing.
I used to "Disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing" mostly because I didn't know how to consent to the other person's better logic without looking like a fool. Absolutely agreed Razor, there's no conspiracy needed. The folks engaging in this stuff automatically fall into line with each other's tactics without there ever needing to be direct contact between them. They see their ideological comrades doing things that they believe successfully shut down debate and automatically follow suit because they have the same aims to begin with. I call it "conspiracy by convenience" because it has the same result as an actual planned conspiracy, in fact arguably a better result because no central control figure can be adequately identified. It's also known as "leaderless opposition" and is notoriously difficult to counter even by those with heavy funding. However, I don't feel as much immediate sense of dread on the subject because the same thing happens among those who champion free speech. Various heads unjustifiably roll, but the rest of us can look to see what mistakes they made that gave the no debate advocates their ammunition and we can learn from it. What I see emerging from this in the long term is a new breed of more savvy free speech advocates who become so familiar with the shut down tactics that they find ways of bypassing it and getting better results. And it only takes a small number of people to succeed at this and set an example that others will instinctively follow and build upon. Another key factor. While the internet has been invaluable for facilitating and expanding human consciousness, it's not the only means. it's the greatest in terms of easy reach of the masses, but it also means the greatest efforts by free speech advocates are on open display to the no debate advocates, who are mostly hiding in the shadows and consciously or unconsciously plotting. If the internet does become so harshly controlled then offline educational movements (assisted by printers and other physical media technology) will occur that spread a lot more slowly, but also have the advantage of being almost completely off radar. We're already seeing elements of this where people do edit and restrict their own speech online for their own protection from the no debate brigade, but offline they let rip and tell everyone what they really think and pass copies of books and documentaries about to their friends. I mean just look at the Trump and Brexit votes. The no debate advocates can plow billions into their cause via news and social media platforms to the point where they actually believe that they have succeeded. Then the reality of their failure to transpose that result into the real world and the ballot box hits them back very, very hard. And they are at a total loss as to how to effectively counter it. They stall the results with technicalities, but they cannot eliminate the public opinion that defied them. And as you say, all urges have to find their outlet somewhere. Keep at it Razor. I can see you refining your approach even more effectively as time goes on. Your out of character vids are just as engaging and important. If they go after your channel it will be on account of the in character rants. It would be a shame to have you lose that, but even going at it as you've done in this video would still keep your audience on board.

Here in UK our politicians are at each other's throats on these issues. I just read this morning a vote of no confidence in Theresa May has been reached. Unfortunately, they live in an echo chamber. I'm not ignorant enough to think that the right and center doesn't have its sacred cows, but the left has become remarkable in its ability to groupthink. The conversations I've had in which people have been unable - and I mean that literally - unable to admit other ideas, even in the face of overwhelming evidence, are remarkable. These are otherwise intelligent people, completely devoid of critical thinking skills, sucking up the scripts they are being fed with no question - and no tolerance for questions. I think the individual occurrences are reactionary, but each reactionary occurrence fits a line that, over the years, looks like a conspiracy. Like making a scatter plot of individual dots, and only when there are enough of them can you see that they fit a plot line.

The saddest part of all of this is that there aren't enough representatives in congress who are in tune with the aspect of social media. The internet was my place and the place of countless others, where we could express our thoughts freely and openly without fear of reproach. Now, that place has changed so much, the bans, the crackdowns on free speech, the deplatforming, it makes me sick, and the fact that there are people cheering as this shit is going down, leaves me beyond words. I feel the need to comment because I felt so moved by this one... But honestly, I don’t even know what to say. As you put it, people like us have seen this coming for a while now. But really, at the end of the day, what can we do? If we are to resolve this situation in a civil way, what actions do we take? I’m a college professor and a high school teacher and I put in my due diligence to help people understand what is happening and what is going to happen. I’m met with mostly impartiality. The general response that I get from people is that I’m just being paranoid. But this is not paranoia, this is very real. There are literally dozens of things going on in the country/world right now that outline total social destabilization within a decade. How do people not see this? Blind ideology or just plain ignorance I guess. I’m a fairly strong willed person, but right now, the future genuinely scares me.
The 2020 Presidential Elections will probably be the most violent we've ever seen. The 2016 elections taught us that. That's less than 2 years away. I've heard people say that the 2020 or 2024 elections might be the last elections the US will ever have. Hyperbole? Maybe. They are pro-censorship, and they run the biggest media companies in the world. 2. They support legislation to greatly limit our rights to free speech. 3. If they’re being honest about their views on guns, they want them completely banned, not just more regulated. 4. It has been proven that they will deny scientific evidence to support their agenda, even in the academic community. 5. They run our schools, kindergarten through college, and they encourage the coddling nature of safe spaces and trigger warnings. 6. They create an even deeper tribalist divide between groups with their identity politics. 7. They support hedonism and sexual debauchery, and they are pushing it on children. 8. They believe our culture enables rape. 9. They are anti-male. 10. They blatantly judge people based on their skin color instead of their character. 11. They support hiring quotas based on gender and ethnicity instead of just hiring the most qualified people. 12. They are largely socialist, which would eliminate all incentive structure for people and it would take away the rights we cherish as Americans. 13. They support open border policies, which is severely detrimental to preserving quality of life and culture (look at what’s happening in Germany.) 14. They openly sympathize with and support certain terrorist groups. 15. They don’t think hierarchies should exist, even though that’s impossible. 16. They think that Western culture has outworn it’s usefulness and it needs to die. 17. They believe in equity over equality, which essentially means they believe in equality of outcome, not just equality of opportunity. I’m sure there’s more that I’m missing, but that’s the broad outline of it all. You know, someone once said, “People are born with different capacities. For everyone to be free, they will certainly not be equal. For everyone to be equal, they will certainly not be free.” A lot of people believe the ones who have the opinions I outlined above are just a small, loud minority. Well, that may be true. But never has such a supposedly inconsequential group made such an extreme impact on our culture in such a short period of time. Mark my words, if conservatives and moderates don’t win this culture war, we will fall. There’s a distinct cycle that all major empires have gone through that results in their inevitable destruction. Historians and scientists agree that we are nearing the end of that cycle. This “progressive” thought process isn’t progressing us towards a brighter future. What it’s really doing is progressing us through that cycle. As I’ve said before, we need to pump the f*ckin’ brakes or we’re finished.

I've been thinking that for a long time now. More laws (closed valves) doesn't mean less crime, it means MORE crime. People start hating that they have to put every aspect of their lives under a microscope, then run it through a filter or two and finally present it to a board of censors for final approval before saying/doing something where others might witness their actions. At some point, a person just snaps (boiler explodes) from all the judgement and penalties and fear of. Humans aren't meant to be controlled and somewhere deep down we all know it.

Absolutely agreed Razor, there's no conspiracy needed. The folks engaging in this stuff automatically fall into line with each other's tactics without there ever needing to be direct contact between them. They see their ideological comrades doing things that they believe successfully shut down debate and automatically follow suit because they have the same aims to begin with. I call it "conspiracy by convenience" because it has the same result as an actual planned conspiracy, in fact arguably a better result because no central control figure can be adequately identified. It's also known as "leaderless opposition" and is notoriously difficult to counter even by those with heavy funding.
However, I don't feel as much immediate sense of dread on the subject because the same thing happens among those who champion free speech. Various heads unjustifiably roll, but the rest of us can look to see what mistakes they made that gave the no debate advocates their ammunition and we can learn from it. What I see emerging from this in the long term is a new breed of more savvy free speech advocates who become so familiar with the shut down tactics that they find ways of bypassing it and getting better results. And it only takes a small number of people to succeed at this and set an example that others will instinctively follow and build upon.
Another key factor. While the internet has been invaluable for facilitating and expanding human consciousness, it's not the only means. it's the greatest in terms of easy reach of the masses, but it also means the greatest efforts by free speech advocates are on open display to the no debate advocates, who are mostly hiding in the shadows and consciously or unconsciously plotting. If the internet does become so harshly controlled then offline educational movements (assisted by printers and other physical media technology) will occur that spread a lot more slowly, but also have the advantage of being almost completely off radar. We're already seeing elements of this where people do edit and restrict their own speech online for their own protection from the no debate brigade, but offline they let rip and tell everyone what they really think and pass copies of books and documentaries about to their friends. I mean just look at the Trump and Brexit votes. The no debate advocates can plow billions into their cause via news and social media platforms to the point where they actually believe that they have succeeded. Then the reality of their failure to transpose that result into the real world and the ballot box hits them back very, very hard. And they are at a total loss as to how to effectively counter it. They stall the results with technicalities, but they cannot eliminate the public opinion that defied them. And as you say, all urges have to find their outlet somewhere.
Keep at it Razor. I can see you refining your approach even more effectively as time goes on. Your out of character vids are just as engaging and important. If they go after your channel it will be on account of the in character rants. It would be a shame to have you lose that, but even going at it as you've done in this video would still keep your audience on board.
You must live in the USA. Here in the "real world" (Europe), where we don't have leaders like Trump, pushing back against the progressive agenda, where we have "leaders" like May, Macron, Merkel emphatically embracing the progressive agenda, things are taking a different turn. Here in UK our politicians are at each other's throats on these issues. I just read this morning a vote of no confidence in Theresa May has been reached. The conversations I've had in which people have been unable - and I mean that literally - unable to admit other ideas, even in the face of overwhelming evidence, are remarkable. These are otherwise intelligent people, completely devoid of critical thinking skills, sucking up the scripts they are being fed with no question - and no tolerance for questions. You hit the nail on the head. Even negative expression needs to be expressed. People need a place to vent their anger and frustrations, otherwise they will explode just like what is happening in the EU at this very moment. Venting is a normal part of the process of dealing with strong emotion. Especially hate, hate is such a strong emotion it envelops reason, if we can't vent it, it will quickly become violent and physical. We are all tired of yelling at the sky for change, for someone to listen, pleading for anyone to care, and getting the same shitty nonanswers from politicians everywhere, these endless frickin platitudes that in the end amount to nothing. I myself have been getting pretty darn ugly lately, I'll admit. I have said some things, things that I would have never dreamed of saying before. Yeah, I got angry and shitted on people, that's what normal people do when they feel disrespected and ostracized. The internet was my place and the place of countless others, where we could express our thoughts freely and openly without fear of reproach. Now, that place has changed so much, the bans, the crackdowns on free speech, the deplatforming, it makes me sick, and the fact that there are people cheering as this shit is going down, leaves me beyond words. Gavin doesn't deserve this, Sargon doesn't deserve this, even Alex in spite of his craziness didn't deserve it, I don't agree with everything these people had to say but I agree with their right to say it. All this leaves me quite angry. Somebody has to do something, heads need to roll, people need to be fired, things must change.

I feel the need to comment because I felt so moved by this one... But honestly, I don’t even know what to say.
As you put it, people like us have seen this coming for a while now. But really, at the end of the day, what can we do? If we are to resolve this situation in a civil way, what actions do we take?
I’m a college professor and a high school teacher and I put in my due diligence to help people understand what is happening and what is going to happen. I’m met with mostly impartiality. The general response that I get from people is that I’m just being paranoid. But this is not paranoia, this is very real. There are literally dozens of things going on in the country/world right now that outline total social destabilization within a decade. How do people not see this? Blind ideology or just plain ignorance I guess.
I’m a fairly strong willed person, but right now, the future genuinely scares me.
The 2020 Presidential Elections will probably be the most violent we've ever seen. The 2016 elections taught us that. That's less than 2 years away.
I've heard people say that the 2020 or 2024 elections might be the last elections the US will ever have. Hyperbole? Maybe. But I do believe that the USA is now fundamentally damaged by this culture war. Whether it can be repaired or not is a different story and, to me, is the scary part.

But we are in the thick of a legitimate culture war right now and it’s coming to a boiling point. Consider the current narrative that’s going on with the far left and consider how much power these opinion leaders actually have.
1. They are pro-censorship, and they run the biggest media companies in the world.
2. They support legislation to greatly limit our rights to free speech.
3. If they’re being honest about their views on guns, they want them completely banned, not just more regulated.
4. It has been proven that they will deny scientific evidence to support their agenda, even in the academic community.
5. They run our schools, kindergarten through college, and they encourage the coddling nature of safe spaces and trigger warnings.
6. They create an even deeper tribalist divide between groups with their identity politics.
7. They support hedonism and sexual debauchery, and they are pushing it on children.
8. They believe our culture enables rape.
9. They are anti-male.
10. They blatantly judge people based on their skin color instead of their character.
11. They support hiring quotas based on gender and ethnicity instead of just hiring the most qualified people.
12. They are largely socialist, which would eliminate all incentive structure for people and it would take away the rights we cherish as Americans.
13. They support open border policies, which is severely detrimental to preserving quality of life and culture (look at what’s happening in Germany.)
14. They openly sympathize with and support certain terrorist groups.
15. They don’t think hierarchies should exist, even though that’s impossible.
16. They think that Western culture has outworn it’s usefulness and it needs to die.
17. They believe in equity over equality, which essentially means they believe in equality of outcome, not just equality of opportunity.
I’m sure there’s more that I’m missing, but that’s the broad outline of it all. You know, someone once said, “People are born with different capacities. For everyone to be free, they will certainly not be equal. For everyone to be equal, they will certainly not be free.”
A lot of people believe the ones who have the opinions I outlined above are just a small, loud minority. Well, that may be true. But never has such a supposedly inconsequential group made such an extreme impact on our culture in such a short period of time.
Mark my words, if conservatives and moderates don’t win this culture war, we will fall. There’s a distinct cycle that all major empires have gone through that results in their inevitable destruction. Historians and scientists agree that we are nearing the end of that cycle. This “progressive” thought process isn’t progressing us towards a brighter future. What it’s really doing is progressing us through that cycle.
As I’ve said before, we need to pump the f*ckin’ brakes or we’re finished.

Well, We all knew it was gonna come to this, Jokes and Memes aside, we all knew deep down that this Madness would not end until it tore everything to shreds.
I asked, on a forum a while back, why do people endorse The "by any means necessary" mindset? And the response was exactly what I expected, and exactly what I was afraid of. The claimed reason was that they had every right to deplatform those with opinions even remotely controversial, and somehow, they beleived practically any opinion opposed to their own, was exactly that. Many on the left do not want to just ignore their opponents. They want to bully and erase them from existence. For their own convenience. And if that Is the route they choose to champion, as evidenced by the continuing censorship of conflicting opinions, Then soon they're gonna have to own up to the consequences.

Scott7891 for me it is different the country I am in kinda has gun control in the since that anything beyond a pistol you are (if I remember correctly) required to be part of a Hunting Family and a licence for a pistol takes time.
