The Socialism of National Socialism - A Rant

  • What the hell, let's piss absolutely everyone off.
History professors have worked overtime for nearly 80 years, reframing a political movement with SOCIALISM in the title... to mean anything but. And that's lovely. Until you actually analyze the policies of those in the movement. Grab your snorkel. We're diving deep on this rant.

Random alarming fact: In the process of looking for Reichstag speech transcripts, I happened upon a website that had them all, translated into English.
    www.worldfuturefund.org/wffmaster/Reading/Hitler%20Speeches/Hitler%20Speech%201941.01.30.html
At the top of the page was a link that said "Click here for Video Excerpt on UA-cam". Being a video producer, I figured that would be better to watch than just me reading a speech.
    So I click.
'This video has been removed for hate speech'.

Eric Brown, the Fleet Air Arm's most decorated living pilot, stated in a 2014 BBC documentary: "I actually witnessed Hitler shaking hands with Jesse Owens and congratulating him on what he had achieved." More than that, Hitler sent him an inscribed commemorative cabinet photograph of himself, according to The Baltimore Sun in August 1936, which Owens kept. The German runner Carl “Luz” Long, befriended Owens, trading tips as they trained.
The notion that Germans actively hated every not-white race, to the point of genocidal rage, is false. Nazi Germany, and imperial Germany before it, always had a good relationship with South America. Imperial Germany wanted Mexico as an ally. Hitler wanted to give vast amounts of territory back to the Indians (because he liked them), and in WW1 Lettow Vorbeck beat the everloving crap out of the allies in Africa, with thousands of black soldiers. The title alluded to the connection between professional hustlers(three card monte dealers, shell game etc) and political ideologies; Socialism, Nazism, Maoism, Stalinism etc. The main thrust of the show was that the purveyors use the same psychological/sociological trickery to delude the "players" (populace) as means to an end. The street hustler, however, does not typically mass murder their players after the game was finished, hence the open and closed parantheses around the word "hell".

In addendum, I'd like to bring modern China into this discussion. They are, avowedly, now nationalist-socialist themselves. They don't appear to be working towards a global communist system where everyone lives in rural 300 person communes, where both private property and the state are abolished. They're working toward a China dominated world where their state is the only state that is permitted to exist, they control everything, and it is all for the good of their gvmt.
How is china not the spitting image of national-socialism? Gvmt owns and controls the means of production, but allows limited corporatist (aka soft socialism) for the specific and explicit benefit of the nation calling itself China. The social-scoring thing is likewise perfectly in line with strict and comprehensive social controls and throttles as implemented by both the german workers nationalist-socialists and italian fascist socialists, just upgraded as technology allows.
Do you think the che-shirt wearing hypocritical self-hating bourgeoisie types who run around LARPing as marxist revolutionaries would be as keen on china if the rest of the world decided to call china nationalist-socialist, like it really and actually is? One can only wonder...since they deny that nationalist socialists were socialist, they'd no doubt find a way to ply the only actual skill any of them have, mental gymnastics, to twist it to call it something else.

It's deeply frustrating how few people truly understand the political spectrum. It's actually way more simple and straight forward then the revisionist "New Left" needs you to believe it is.
The left is about more government, and the right is about less government. Therefore the extreme of leftism is the totalitarian dictatorship, and the extreme right is true anarchism (which is NOT a strain of Marxism or any other leftist revolution, but is instead the fatally flawed notion that society would be better of with NO government whatsoever).
The center-left is the far more practical and popular authoritarianism, wherein an overly powerful government and their cronies hold all the power in a state. The center of the political spectrum is democracy; a well meaning but fumbling step in the right direction, wherein even the slightest majority can decide the fate of the nation, and is invariably tricked into voting away whatever freedom they started with by an opportunistic state party offering "security" (see classical Greece and interwar Europe).
The center-right is actually the most recent, revolutionary, and effective form of state to ever exist; Constitutionalism, the rule of law. This beautiful system uses an all but perfect balance of Judeo-Christian morality and Greco-Roman logic; wherein the rights and freedoms of the citizen are set in stone, and government is LEGALLY LIMITED to the role of public servant and protector. In the constitutional/free state, no one; the dictator, the elite, or even the ravenous majority can ignore your rights and take your freedom, and that's why they all want a "revolution".
So from now on, don't let the "intellectuals" confuse you, or even worry about misleading labels like "liberal" or "conservative". If your politician is trying to explain to you why your freedom is dangerous, they're a run of the mill politician and lefty. But if they're telling you to nut up and embrace the personal responsibilities of your freedom, and that selling it for security is an age old scam; they're a righty and a rarity.

England actually implemented constitutionalism before the vote. A principle that (despite attempted revolutions and coups) has held fast for ~800 years.
Constitutionalism in the West is established to the point of being outright reactionary. Despite the US government successfully overthrowing Britain's constitution, the Loyalists dug their heels in and forced an important capitulation in the form of the Very British US Bill of Rights to replace the founding (and tyrannical) Articles of Confederation.

@@EastGermany-pc2lw "giving the means of production back to the people" is a lie. You can't rightly give something back to someone that they already had to begin with. And of Communists really want the abolition of government, then I'd love and alternative explanation as to why every Communist revolution in history ended with a single-party totalitarian regime. The answer, as per the video we both watched; is that total top-down government is the only way to even APPROACH the level of socioeconomic control the communists so ardently crave. Without an authoritarian government or an oppressive caste system; class , property and money will be available to any and all who are willing to work for them. That's why "Anarcho-Communism" is yet another example of socialists using words for things they absolutely do no't mean. True anarchy (IE, the total lack of government) is a communist's worst nightmare; because in that world, anyone could have whatever they wanted provided they had the will and the strength to take it. I'm not advocating for anarchy here, I'm just trying to explain the true political binary that leftists/statists don't want the people to be aware of. Because if enough of us understood that the true conflict was between authoritarianism and individual liberty (as opposed to "cool totalitarianism" vs "lame totalitarianism"); America and the West at large would be in real danger of finally realizing it's full potential.

@@greenskull3384 There's a difference between political and economic systems. Political systems are [democratic totalitarian]. Economic systems are [Collectively owned(socialism) Privately Owned(capitalism)]
Its entirely possible for a socialist to come to power democratically. The most obvious example is Salvador Allende. He has an interesting story and you should definitely read something about it. He was overthrow by a coup the CIA spent millions on to replace him with a capitalist dictator called Augusto Pinochet that threw suspected communists out of helicopters with their stomachs cut open so they would sink and drown in the ocean. The USSR was also as democratic as US. They would have elections on things like the supreme soviet and had way higher voter turnout than the US. The only difference being the USSR had no negative freedom while the US had no positive freedom. Oh yeah and capitalist v communist.
I personally don’t think communism is possible because I think that some people are actually greedy and would take advantage of the system. Marx who pretty much wrote the book on communism said that it’s stateless and that’s the status quo on what communism is. Anarcho-communism is fucking broken and everyone knows its absolute bullshit. Anarcho-capitalism is more likely to work but I mean its still shit. In my opinion you need some kind of state to organize things.
Anyway. You seem to be confused at what giving the means of production back to the people means. It’s a vague term to be fair. Essentially what it means is that the bourgeoisie (owner class) own the means of production in a capitalist society. The people who work or the majority of the population (hence the name “people”,) are called the “proletariat” which comes from some shitty Latin word essentially meaning lower class. In most cases the proletarian class has no say on how their job is ran and the hours and pay they make. In America the minimum wage is $7.25. In the 50s you could go through collage without any debt on the minimum wage in the 50s. But if you were to scale that wage up to now, it would be around $26. 3 times what it is now. On top of that, most jobs can’t pay workers enough for a single bedroom apartment in any county in the US. And the people who are in apartments can’t just get a house when 45% of their income is going to their landlord. Giving the means of production(at the most basic level) means taking the the Tesla factories from Musk and giving them to people who work in those factories where they will democratically control the company.
Socialists are with the masses and want the betterment of humanity put over profits for share holders. We want the workers to have positive freedom and be paid more than the owner because they produce labor; if not the abolition of the owner class. We want every human being to be able to pursue their hobbies without worrying about if they have to pay the water. We want the freedom of the people and unless you make $15,000 an hour, that includes you.

They were "national socialists" something completely different. Socialism always held a more "lib" stance. In fact, the SPD (Social Democratic Party) was banned in the Enabling Act of 1933 in Germany after the Nazis won power. There was a zero tolerance on any self described "socialist" and the ones who still had seats in government were stripped of their positions.
National Socialism is a misnomer. Think Democratic People's Republic of (North) Korea. It's neither democratic nor a republic. Just like the Nazis, they were NOT socialists.

@Oberst I you obviously got a chip on your shoulder. You should deal with that before you step into adult conversation.
I never said Fascism or NatSoc didn't work on a state or economics level. I honestly think any ideology works if the population is culturally and racially unified. I only stated that fascism is based on socialism. This is a fact. You can read it from Hitler or Mussolini themselves if you are inclined. They go over the similarities and differences often in their speeches and writings and make it very clear why they consider their ideology a progressed form of socialism.
You think poining out that the holocaust is a hoax makes you seem hip? I just said all ideologies lie. That includes capitalist republics like the US and commies like the USSR. Anyone that hasn't been lobotomised knows that the numbers are inflated and most of the Jewish casualties came from starvation due to ally bombing of food production and processing. Leaving most of the country starving by the end.
JFK and Hitler were terrible leaders. This to is also a fact. If Hitler had just let his generals run his campaigns Europe and half the world would be speaking German. But he thought he knew better and inserted his ideology into the battlefield were it didn't belong. Who cares if you can build an economy if you can't win the war? Not to mention he gave the tribe a free ride for the century to follow. JFK was just a mess and was one of the people that brought the world closer to ending than any other time in history.
If you want to say NatSoc and fascism aren't socialism based then that is your choice but it's a lost battle cause the facts aren't on your side.

More accurately, Corporatism is an element OF socialism. Corporations can only exist in a highly-centralized economy, as only that market structure permits monopolies to exist. The state can decide which corporations rise and fall, and the corporations, in turn, donate to politicians who will be obliged to pass anti-competitive legislation for their exclusive benefit. "Corporatism" -- the fascist economic model -- comes from looking at the nation like a singular, organic "body" (from "corpo" in Italian, like "corpse") w/ the state as the head. It's a form of socialist syndicalism (ironically, most antifa members identify as syndicalists).
Corporatism is the state arbitrating "economic and social justice", to maximize worker and state welfare, that includes the threat of nationalization as Razorfist eloquently describes.
E.g. Hitler wanted to arbitrate disputes between (and impose regulation on) trade unions representing each economic interest group (workers, employers, agriculture, banking, industry, etc.) -- i.e. appendages of the national "body" -- in an "Economic Parliament", run by and for the state.
Corporatism doesn't mean "state run by corporations" or "a mix of state and corporations". It's socialistic, syndicalist trade-unionism.

Well said. Hitler and Mussolini both wanted to end class struggle. Class struggle, which is a marxistic concept and completely flawed.

Are you really about to suppose class struggle doesn’t exist? I’m not a marxist and don’t believe class relations are the driving force of history, however, to not include class struggle in an analysis of society is simply grug brained.

@@hailbane9633 And even more moronic is the socialist notion that the upper classes need to be brought down to the level of the lower classes in order for harmony to be attained. It just doesn't work. Incentive is inherently necessary for creation, innovation and growth which is why we routinely see nothing but stagnation in socialist and communist societies.

A particularly enlightening video. Especially interesting how something as benign as price control for bread immediately starts to unravel the utopia
