The Paloma: A Step by Step Guide in 60 seconds

  • I dare you to find somebody who doesn't think the Paloma cocktail isn't one of the best cocktails for a hot day. In this one, we're making it with mezcal and avoiding soda by using fresh juices and Pamplemousse liqueur.
    When you substitute fresh grapefruit juice over the syrupy sweetness of soda, and lend the drink a layer of spice and smokiness by going with mezcal over tequila, you’re in for something special.

    What you need:
    • Mezcal Mal Bien
    • lime juice
    • fresh grapefruit juice
    • Pamplemousse liqueur
    • simple syrup
    • soda water
    • lime (for garnish)
    • kosher salt (for garnish)
    • collins glass
    • ice
    • shaker tin
    • strainer
    How you make it:
    1. In your shaker tin, add 1/2 ounce of fresh lime juice.
    2. Add 1 ounce of fresh grapefruit juice.
    3. Add 3/4 ounce of Pamplemousse liqueur.
    4. Add 1/2 ounce of simple syrup.
    5. Add 2 ounces of mezcal Mal Bien.
    6. Add ice to the shaker tin and shake the hell out of it.
    7. Strain into a iced-up highball glass.
    8. Add a splash of soda water to the top of the glass (about 2oz).
    9. Garnish with lime and a pinch of salt on top of the drink.
    10. Serve and enjoy immediately.
    11. Start making another one.
    12. Repeat as necessary.
