- Thunder Mountain - Some of the best views in Sedona
So I climbed Thunder Mountain. I lost my voice along the way. Great views, good challenge. Hard to follow trail with some slightly spicy bits.
That's about all I can think to say about that.
Music by Artlist:
Find Serenity - Flint
Minuet 1 - Ardie Son
Standing Small - The Hunts
Above the Clouds - Sunriver
Prickly pear almost caused a prickly pair
I cannot imagine climbing to the summit when you are not felling well! the view from the top is pretty amazing, great video!
Back in the late 70s , early 80s I hung out and explored the area around Sedona, Jerome and Mayer until the invasion and ruination of the area.
Still looks good from your viewpoint.
Another wonderfully composed piece of videography that is entertaining too. We always enjoy watching with a cocktail or over breakfast. I used to go to Sedona all the time when I was a kid when the place wasn't much more than a gas station, a convenience store and a Mexican food restaurant. That was about 45 years ago. How time flies and places change. Still a beautiful part of the world. Thanks for this!
I read that as "with a cocktail over breakfast" and was thinking "my kinda people."
You always make me smile Jerry. What a Wonderful World, you Boy Scout.!
Yikes, glad you missed the elusive cocktus on that descent 😅
I see what you did there. 😏😏😅
That was too close for comfort.
Thanks again for a wonderful video. Also love your outfit. Hope to see you someday on the trails.
Your sound tracks are always fabulous. Any chance of a playlist? Your videos are pretty great too!
No playlist since...well, I have no idea how I'd do that. But I've been putting the artists and song titles in the description for a while now. They're all licensed artists from Epidemic Sound and Artlist.
Wow amazing. On my bucket list now!
"What a wonderful video"
Love your singing, impressions and humor!
Thank you for doing these crazy adventures so I can watch and see the view. Age has limitations as you will find out. Nice video! 😀👍
Sedona sure is beautiful. Good boy, TexMex for Tina as well.
Excellent. Whatever it is brother, we're here for you
Thanks! Already recovered. Just one of those strange bugs.
Hi Jerry, thanks for the video. That view from the top was truly spectacular, and you had me laughing throughout! Cheers...
Duuuude...good job, all around.
Raise your hand if you flinched at the cactus. I know I did. That was a close one!
A classic! good fun..
Sedona never disappoints. So many great options for hiking, and the views are amazing. One of my favorite places to visit.
Good musical choices and great climb.
Beautiful!!
glad you finally did this! I actually just did it Tuesday when I was in Sedona for a work retreat. It's less mileage that you said though!
Nice! My GPS can get wonky on the mileage and elevation sometimes. It seemed a lot easier than I was expecting.
Amazing red rock country in Sedona, one of my favorite places. Great job filming and capturing the landscapes. Big likes 😍🥰👍
I wished I could be there! Wonderful landscape!
Awesome scenery, thanks for sharing.
Beautiful view! Adding this one to the bucket list. Never fails that when you are on the trickiest part of the trail and most likely to fall there is a cactus right there ready to grab you.
Hope your feeling better! Great 8 min video! Enjoyed the views!
Spectacular!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Definitely miss living in Arizona. Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks for that! Loved the clouds...looked like they were eye level. Really appreciate the humor!
It is so beautiful! I'm glad I get to see it through your lens and into my living room. That bee that was zapping at you clearly wasn't too happy about your presence, though. Did you even notice it there? I would have been running. LOL.
I filmed one, but he was leaving me alone. If one buzzed me, I didn't notice.
Love it Jerry! Sometimes I follow your footsteps and sometimes not. Glad you brought that gorgeous view to me. Thank you so much. PS, take care of those shins. They need it. Enjoy the Mexican food Boy Scout!
Best part about this hike, no one else is there. At least the couple times I did it
Definitely lower traffic. I saw 4 people total on the mountain.
Those are some breathtaking views.
amazing as always!
I like that. Beautiful views.
I've been thru Sedona but unable to make such a trek so thank you for the experience.
Subscribing.
This is a great hike and video Jerry, one I can appreciate much more now. The best video so far, this is awesome .
Stick with it. Premiere Pro is difficult at first, but after a while, I wouldn't use anything else.
I hiked it on a weekend and saw 4 people. Practically, no one goes up there. It’s scary. Keeps the riff raff out. Lol
Mushroom and Hawkshead is another spectacular hike that you’re likely to have mostly to yourself for the same reason: Exposure.
Mushroom is on the list. I think there's a canyoneering route out there I want to combine though. Haven't heard of Hawkshead, but I'll be looking it up.
What a nice view, Jerry. I need to do this hike...
Well done again, man. ✌🏻
I just did Bear Mountain, and this looks even better! Beautiful views, Jerry. 👍🏻
I thought the views from Thunder Mountain were better. Put it up there with Wilson Mountain and the Schnebly overlook.
@@JerryArizona I've done Wilson and the Hangover Trail, but not Schnebly Overlook because it has been closed. I might try to squeeze Thunder Mountain in before we leave Arizona at the end of the month. 👍🏻
Cool video I was just there a week or two ago great area nice views😊
WOW, ;very nice.
Another great video. Thanks for taking us along. Sure hope you get to feeling better. Thanks for including Tina at the end of the video…we were wondering how she has been doing.
Tina will be back in the next couple. She's doing well. Work isn't agreeing with our hiking schedule for her lately though.
That looks awesome! Chalking up for next time in Sedona! Thanks. Feel better!
Go for it. It's a nice challenge, but shorter. And great views without a ton of people.
You look kind of sick, Jerry, feel better. Nice cactus encounter
Thanks. Already over it. Slight cold, I think.
Wow Jerry ! Awesome!
Loved your hair BTW! Video as well, miss Tina!!
She'll be back next week!
My wife just asked me what kind of life insurance your wife has on you. 😂
She's a little bit scared of heights.
Enough life insurance that I need to question if she's being encouraging or planning her retirement sometimes.
It’s so wrong they let people live there the whole area should be a national park. It’s gorgeous. Going down has to harder. I wish i could meet you so you could show me where to boondock want to visit soon. Down here in the valley.
Hey Jerry I stopped last night to pick up some ElPatio and showed them your channel. They love it ! Showed the end of this one and you bringing Tina the good stuff !! I put a bid in for a Jerry Arizona Margarita on the drink menu ha ha ! A shot of Tequila and I was home in 5 min eating a great Carne Asade burrito!! Thx Jerry for another great video!! See you around.
That's awesome! We always joke about "when are they gonna put up a reserved booth for us?" Sure we'll be back soon.
@@JerryArizona you definitely earned a few more followers!
Sedona is always a great hiking destination. The views up there are beautiful, but the climb looks pretty challenging. 👍👍
It got a little exposed and scrambly toward the top, for sure.
Capitol Butte is hands down my favorite summit in Sedona/Oak Creek....
It's a solid hike/climb. And the views are incredible.
Views don't get any better than that. We visited Sedona a few years ago; it was my first time there. We visited some Indian ruins and went hiking one day. I hope we go again soon, and I'll be sure to check out more hiking opportunities. Thanks for sharing!
Nothing like a good rock scramble
It was fun, for sure.
Done tuckered me out Mr. Boy Scout🙂
Another awesome hike Jerry! Nearly 20 years living in Flagstaff and I never got to do Thunder Mountain. Been all over Sedona area though. Have you done Fey Canyon yet? There's a really nice arch and some ruins up there. Close call with that cacti, sir! 🌵 😳
My GPS looks like a spiderweb up in Sedona. Yet somehow I've not done Fey yet. I'll need to correct that soon.
Just finished watching your Wave video, if you have not hiked there yet, Ed Myer’s Secret is cool. Start at Wire Pass, go down to Buckskin Gulch, instead of going downstream in Buckskin go up stream. Very cool slick rock formations. Usually not crowded, it ends at the Buckskin Trail Head on House Rock Valley Road, or you can go downstream.
I'll have to keep that in mind. It's about time we hiked Buckskin again.
Your music is always so good, can you start linking the songs? You're really good at picking the right tunes😊
They're all through a subscription service (so I can avoid copyright claims). Artlist or Epidemic Sound. I put the song title and artist in the descriptions though. I think you could get them from Spotify or something like that from there. I can't link directly to the subscription websites unfortunately.
@Jerry Arizona title and band is good enough for me. That's smart to use a subscription service
Better views than Wilson Mtn? Thanks Jerry. Nice video👍
It's up there. But the south overlook on Wilson probably still gets my vote. Or maybe the ridge in Boynton. Not sure. It's Sedona. Lots of beautiful views.
Great production Homie! Slapping on some color grading would make those summit views even better.
I did....Still working on the color grading. I don't think I'll ever get it. Especially when I use iPhone footage. I'm probably going to start scaling that back and carry the Canon more.
@@JerryArizona we should hang out sometime. I love talking shop about all this stuff. I’d urge you to stay with the phone, make life easy, it is 10bit color and the latest iPhone stabilization is so good. I honestly think with the type of shoots we do, particularly canyons, camera movement, using parallax is so cool for revealing depth and contour, even more important than color grading. . . That said, I’d be happy to chat about grading as well. I definitely have a rinky dink non pro style to doing it but I think it works quite well. My basic premis, blast it with saturation so you can see how the camera screwed it up. . . Too much red? Blue whatever, DJI seems to often add too much green. . . From there I dial back, with hue and temp. Till the color is balanced then lowering the saturation back to, ‘believable” lol! There’s more too, contrast, mid tones highlights and shadows. . . But that is my simplified approach. . . I just shot my most beautiful canyon yet and, turned out to be the scariest too. I wouldn’t give a second thought to being a climber or not. . Nobody watches my channel since they are interested in something they “can” do. . . and Safely.
New Englander here. Any danger of encountering a rattlesnake when reaching up to haul yourself up a high place (or anywhere else around there)?
It's always possible. In my experience, they just want to be left alone. But you do have to watch where you step and where you put your hands.
Haha! For the record, I am not adverse to the occasional cocktail breakfast! Just add extra fruit. That's breakfast, isn't it?
Haha, I have the opposite problem, everything i buy lately is too big.
So I’ve been wondering, is that an official trail or just something that has kinda just been made after enough travel? Because I’ve been wondering how the heck to get up and haven’t had the chance to look around
It's an unofficial "Social trail". Pretty hard to follow in places. I saw a guy at the summit (with his dog!) and waited for him to enjoy his time at the top. And...he just disappeared. So apparently there are multiple routes. I went up the easy way by Lizardhead. But however he did it was easy enough for a dog to get up there, but no idea what route that was.
Fair enough. I might have to check it out once I’m back in Arizona
Some hiking excitement at 6:20 I see
Almost too much excitement.
Great video! How can you stand that alarm? You must be a heavy sleeper.
I am. So I have to have the most annoying alarm ever. It's horrible. But it wakes me up.
how do you find sleeping in the 4runner? My fiance and I are renting one this summer on our trip to CO. Im about 6'2 but we are wondering if it is viable to fit us both in that if we wanted to spend a night or two in it.
I actually removed the rear seat to get a little extra length to the bed and at 5'-10", my feet touch the rear window. I'd recommend a cheap tent and air mattress instead if you're 6'-2".
@@JerryArizona thanks for the info. awesome vid. will deff be considering Thunder mountains on our next trip to sedona.
I forget to write: You´re looking like a parkranger!
That's my secret for avoiding permits! (Just kidding. I just don't pay any attention to what I wear.)
I want some prickly pear fruit
What’s the name of this trail on all trails?
I wasn't able to find it there. I think it should show up if you search Thunder Mountain Summit or Capitol Butte Summit Sedona. You want to come in from the asphalt parking area for Devil's Bridge.
😂😂😂
You *do* look like a Boy Scout
Don't encourage her.
Haha... I thought both the voice and the hair was good.... film star good.... hahaha
Unfortunately the voice is back to normal....There goes my film career.
No Amazon Link to the minis? lol
That table is better suited for a dollhouse. It's already been replaced.
