      Who underrates Mortensen? He is well known, and known to do his acting really well. If some movies are not in top-10 of hollywood showing list....well thats usually just a good sign.

    I remember thinking that Tom locking the front door and forcing his brother to lower his weapon to look for his keys was so simple and yet realistic to disarm him. Most of the action in the movie is believable and realistic making all the more intense.

      One of my favorite Viggo roles of all time! Eastern Promises kept Viggo's role as an undercover agent hidden and we didn't see it coming. Also.....Viggo doing that knife fight fully nude was crazy.

      @@rickbase833 You should read the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King, where the protagonist (the gunslinger) seems sort of obsessed with the idea of a man willing to fight naked must be a real bad ass. I wonder if SK inspired the Eastern Promises script. And I agree, it was a great movie!

    This was actually a really good film!
    The story was written, just right! I didn’t rush and do anything, it built up the characters and had the perfect plot twist. Whenever you thought you knew a character, the film would show you otherwise!

    This was a great film, much better than i was expecting at the time... If you're a fan of movies like Taken, John Wick & Nobody then this film is for you. It follows a similar template, but delivers a far more grounded and realistic story and characters that are each consistently intriguing and captivating throughout.
    It's a shame this film was released prior to the rise in revenge movies as it missed the recognition it deserved... On the other hand however, I'm grateful they never ruined it by forcing it into a franchise, too

    The scene where toerag Bobby gives the finger to the two evil robbers in their pickup, right there you saw the Who Gives The Most Evil Stare food chain. RIP to William Hurt, who was rightly (and should've won) nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role. Ed Harris was also scary af in this as well.

      On top of which, there was obviously no need to shoot anybody in that store in the first place. Yes they've eliminated witnesses to their robbery but they've made themselves a drastically higher priority for capture so the net result is much more risk to them.

      Check out the way Viggo morphs back to "Joey" in the front yard. His walk changes, his face goes calm and cool and his eyes reveal his intensity. The guy is a remarkable actor. He is on my top list. Viggo, Denzell, Butler, Penn, Hardy and Statham.

    I met a couple of guys once like the two dudes who mean no good at the beginning of this movie. It was in South Park at a small cafe and they were especially friendly to me as I was by myself. When they asked me what I was up to, and I said I was headed to a shooting range, their demeanor changed and they weren't so interested in me. They made a good choice not to eff with me. These types are out there and real. So be careful when strangers are strangly nice to you.

    A good example of people who think they have power do not know when to just let an issue go.
    They think they are above the law, invincible and attack people who would do them no harm if left alone.
    It is sort of like poking a wolverine and getting mauled by it because they thought the wolverine was small and too weak to fight.
    Note to all gangs: It is not smart to go after your former hit man.

    His hoodlum ride arrives to take him to meet his psycho brother, voice switching from mild mannered Hoosier back to Philly: "Yeah, I'm Joey". Absolutely brilliant acting and a great film.

    Original release had a scene where the son said to Vigo's character, "what are you going to do dad, bump me off?". It was unintentionally hilarious. The scene was changed in the DVD release.
