There's a huge issue with animation quality in this game. Like, your animations are too slow but start too quickly, so you have neither the right weight to your attacks because the momentum is all messy nor the impact of a hit with proper velocity. That paired with the really weak stagger animations, sound effects and visual effects just makes all your hits feel like you're defeating an enemy with an oversized pool noodle even when using a huge weapon. It's a mess and it'll be dead on arrival at this level of quality.

I just don't like how immobile you are when you have to fight in this game. Standing there and parrying feels like the only way to play. I was hoping from the teaser that this game would be more Bloodborne inspired, with a focus on evasion styled gameplay. So many of these new Souls-likes are so focused on tight deflection windows, which limits movement.
Yeah, making a good soulslike is hard. Which is why Lies of P is so impressive because it really feels like a From Soft game that lacks all the jank of something like Lords of the Fallen or many other soulslikes.

It's hard for souls like fans to accept that 90% of souls likes just aren't actually good. Fromsoft's are usually good, outside that you can easily count the ones that aren't just a mess of clunky mechanics, insta kill traps everywhere, and a hatred of everything that isn't dark

There's something beautiful about the fact I haven't played a Souls since Elden Ring but perfectly timed deciding to pick Lies of P back up at the same time you're doing the Souls thing again. I bought deluxe edition just to get stuck on Parade Master then put it down, but now that I've picked it back up, I've already passed the cathedral.
I had the same experience recently with Sekiro. Got stuck on Gyoubu and dropped it 2 years ago. Picked it up again after beating Lies of P and I'm at the first Owl fight now
tbh a good combat and good fight will make you forgive or even appreciate the long hp bar perhaps. but this game, you can sleep from start to finish cuz all the enemies kinda swing and hit the same way and it is just extremely repetitive and boring

I really love the italian voice acting in this. As a half-italian (whole extended family only speak italian or spanish), it's really nice to hear it and be able to understand what they're saying and feel more authentic. The va is really good in italian. Also, because i play all games in the original language (mostly english), with subtitles, and since english is my primary language, it's refreshing to hear something different.
I’m stuck in a bug in this game. It won’t let me progress past the boss barrier even though I killed the boss. My game crashed straight after I killed him
@@zakomimi4185 When you enter a boss fight there’s walls that appear at the entrance and exit of the arena. Once I killed the boss (think it was the final gatekeeper) my game crashed and when I reload it, if I enter the boss area, he’s not there but the walls appear which prevents me from progressing the game. So frustrating.
what you want to do is quit to the main menu while you're in the boss room. make sure you leave the boss room in any direction that isn't the way you came in. I had it happen and that worked for me (if you got it from the stone golem boss then you might need to do it multipole times after exiting since it's a 4 way exit).
depends on the enemies obviously, but most of the time i see people say this they're not using an element that the enemy is weak to and/or using the one it's resistant or even immune to.

@@spub1031 nah it’s not. Fighting radahn with no scadutree fragments means doing 50%~ less damage, and taking almost 100% more. A skilled player is still able to take down radahn with no fragments in under 15 minutes. Faster if they are just really good at parrying, reflex blocking, or dodging, and don’t need to worry about being too defensive. Even on my solo run against Radahn, scadutree level 17, it took about 4.5 minutes on my winning attempt. Boss fights taking this long (25 minutes) in a souls like, even in an unoptimized build, is different than it taking that long in a fighting game like final fantasy 16. Any moment could be your last in a souls like, and to have to work your way up from the start again with all that pressure on you, knowing it’s going to take at least 20 minutes to get where you were before. Good souls like bosses to me shouldn’t last more than 10 minutes, but that’s just my 2 cents on the matter. It’s entirely possible that this game was going for something different.

What I gather from this footage is that the game suffers from "let's give bosses a gigantic fucking healthbar to make it more difficult" syndrome. All it accomplishes is making the game more tedious, especially if nothing changes in the moveset.
The healthbars are not actually that big. They're just EXTREMELY intent on forcing you to use the right element. Almost every enemy in the game resists physical damage to the point that using their own element against them is directly better.
It's Italian Dark Souls where everyone bleeds Chinotto, health items are all Arancini and every boss encounter begins with everyone taunting each other with Sta Minchia gestures.

Last boss is programmed to respond to your actions, when he sits still he is waiting to counter which it does pretty well actually but it also opens him up for ai glitch
As someone who beat the game in a stomp because I immediately went for an elemental build, the balance is absolutely woeful. By spamming mask lines (abilities) and having a build that consisted of relatively spread out stats, weapon infusions (you only need one at a time, because the game's areas' main weaknesses are pretty obvious, and the degree of 'use the right thing or screw you' is so high that even just infusing a weapon of the wrong element with the right one can make a dramatic difference) and having mask lines recover quicker when my weapons are infused allowed me to recover them back to back and do several thousand damage to even the hardest bosses, while also building up massive poise. Physical damage gets a few hundred per hit and literally nothing else.
Imagine playing a souls game from the POV of a big bad, just randomly going about your day when a small person randomly decides to trespass on your place or accost you as you are running errands.
The game is not great, but at least is not a complete disaster. I expected much worse since in Italy we dont have a big game development history, and often these ambitios projects just get abandoned.

This game looks like one of those unity asset games that Charlie plays during bad games night. It's crazy cause they spent so much on advertisement and marketing, when they could've poured more bucks into making this game.
Indie and AA being mosty affected, You knew its getting flack from the darksouls community if the game plays and looks different than what people got used to. But justifiably so if the game does had issues, like lack of mobility making the combat isnt that engaging.
It seems like every gamer watches the credit at the end of any game the first time. Gotta give the guys some credit for making a decent game. It could be worse for sure, they could probably patch quite a bit.

This looks like something we've seen 10,000 times already. It has the Soulslike look and mechanics but there's not much beyond the setting to differentiate it from a sea of over-motion blurred and strangely cheap-feeling Dark Souls wannabes.
It's soulless because the devs seem to have no personal attachment to the game but only made it because soulslikes/soulslite are at a rise. I love me some banger indies but they often pander to nostalgia or make the most derivative slop. (I DON'T HATE INDIES!!!)
Trust me... it's not soulless. Here in italy we've been hearing about this project for years, the people behind this game have been working on it for almost a decade and they were putting their heart on it, in reality the problem is the exact opposite, the devs were so passionate about it that it became too ambitious for its own good, and it ended up being kind of an unpolished game.
I'll consider buying it after they finish the game, kinda weird that they released it with a roadmap of pretty big changes that won't be done until 2025.

@@420.Outcast They are about same level for me. Hard to compare when they excel at different things. DS2 has more forgettable bosses but weapon variety is better. Some questionable design choices but also some great stuff like way better new game plus + bonfire ascetics. Those things should be in other games too My personal take is that ds3 > ds1 and ds2 mainly because bosses are so good and combat is less clunky
It seems like a solid foundation but it looks more like an early access that hasnt finalised its player controller or added visual oomph. A massive part of soulslikes is the subtle emphasis on meneuverability and the scary powerful strikes of bosses that form a visually stunning and mechanically tense ganeplay loop. This looks very bland by comparison. Lots of you and your opponents standing in each others face trading blows with little weight behind each swing, or movement to spice up the downtime between attacks, and nothing the player or enemies do feels chunky or has any finesse. Expectations need to be lowered for more indie styled projects ofc, and as memtioned they have a solid baseline, but a lot of work needs to be put in imho. As it stands, they might not end up with as many sales as they mightve expected because it doesnt look engaging, leaving them with the choice of giving up or sitting down and actively taking on player feedback to make a good game around their unique premise and selling point.

As someone who beat the game in a stomp because I immediately went for an elemental build, the balance is absolutely woeful. By spamming mask lines (abilities) and having a build that consisted of relatively spread out stats, weapon infusions (you only need one at a time, because the game's areas' main weaknesses are pretty obvious, and the degree of 'use the right thing or screw you' is so high that even just infusing a weapon of the wrong element with the right one can make a dramatic difference) and having mask lines recover quicker when my weapons are infused allowed me to recover them back to back and do several thousand damage to even the hardest bosses, while also building up massive poise.
Physical damage gets a few hundred per hit and literally nothing else.
I hope the gamedev improve the animation of the game and the game mechanics and the movement of the game.

This game looks like one of those unity asset games that Charlie plays during bad games night. It's crazy cause they spent so much on advertisement and marketing, when they could've poured more bucks into making this game.
Indie and AA being mosty affected, You knew its getting flack from the darksouls community if the game plays and looks different than what people got used to. But justifiably so if the game does had issues, like lack of mobility making the combat isnt that engaging.

Watching this 1.5 hours in and my main takeaway is just that the scope of the game was too big, if they made the game half as large but twice as detailed, maybe more than twice for combat music😂

Souls games and souls-likes are the best arpg genre has to offer really.
It's very hard to get good, unlike most games. It's a combination of planning, wits, and motor skills. Then you can troll people online.

Here in italy we've been hearing about this project for years, the people behind this game have been working on it for almost a decade and they were putting their heart on it, in reality the problem is the exact opposite, the devs were so passionate about it that it became too ambitious for its own good, and it ended up being kind of an unpolished game.

@@420.Outcast They are about same level for me. Hard to compare when they excel at different things. DS2 has more forgettable bosses but weapon variety is better. Some questionable design choices but also some great stuff like way better new game plus + bonfire ascetics. Those things should be in other games too
My personal take is that ds3 > ds1 and ds2 mainly because bosses are so good and combat is less clunky
I love the Italian aesthetic of this game. I really hope they make more of these with polished edges.
Humanoid boss fights are the most boring part of Soulslikes, and this game features a LOT of them.
It seems like a solid foundation but it looks more like an early access that hasnt finalised its player controller or added visual oomph. A massive part of soulslikes is the subtle emphasis on meneuverability and the scary powerful strikes of bosses that form a visually stunning and mechanically tense ganeplay loop.
This looks very bland by comparison. Lots of you and your opponents standing in each others face trading blows with little weight behind each swing, or movement to spice up the downtime between attacks, and nothing the player or enemies do feels chunky or has any finesse.
Expectations need to be lowered for more indie styled projects ofc, and as memtioned they have a solid baseline, but a lot of work needs to be put in imho.
As it stands, they might not end up with as many sales as they mightve expected because it doesnt look engaging, leaving them with the choice of giving up or sitting down and actively taking on player feedback to make a good game around their unique premise and selling point.
