😂 and the Vegemite lol
@@victoriahillman70 And the wood basket.🤣
@@howardjessop6505 a lot goes missing when Abel is camping 😅
I don't know who needs to hear this right now but remember that you did everything you could in that situation, its not your fault. Stop stressing about it and blaming yourself for things that are out of your control, I promise it will get better for you and you will find a beautiful future ahead of you. You have what it takes to endure any hardship. I wish you all peace, love and happiness ❤❣💓 love from USA
When we first went camping. No frame tent, certainly no "blow up" tent. No ground sheet/ No sleeping bags, (blankets held together with nappy pins). No air beds, just a blanket on the floor, with no built in groundsheet. No battery bank, no coffee machine, a toaster???and the only heating was a "Tilley" paraffin lamp. Cooking was done on a Primus paraffin stove. Simple food, lots of jam sandwiches, and bacon and eggs. How on earth did we survive??
Things got better over the years, with a better cooker, and air beds, but we still managed with the bare essentials!
You have it tough with your "puffer jackets" and water proof clothes.
We did have one luxury, a 12 volt bulb connected to the car battery, which provided our light to the tent(no LED's then.
Still enjoy all your videos, keep them coming.
That’s a good story
I love to watch camping in the rain videos this one was so exciting the wind and the rain
Was awesome tent was pretty good to hold up in the storm. Until your next adventure stay safe stay healthy stay strong ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
That rain and wind was brutal. The tent stood up to it well, so did you.
Yeah all night lol. Rough
This is so well edited. Well done mate! It's so good to see you progressing at not just the outdoorsman skills but the techy ones too!
Cheers man appreciate it. I’m trying hard to try improve the viewing experience
Omg to the toaster camping! That is an absolute pisser, you funny buggar. That sound. Lol love this video well done
Rain is the worst, but rain camping is fun. I feel safe in my car and enjoy listening to the rain. You can make your own world. You can have the best time in the car. Your videos are amazing!
Agreed. Thank you 😊
NZ is so beautiful, it's like a fantasy version of England. I can see why Lord of the Rings was filmed there!
I am really impressed with how that tent stood up to those conditions and trust you got home ok. That river would have been my biggest worry. I love that you can have fires there in the South Island as camping with a fire is just so much better. Thanks so much, I so enjoy your camp trips. Hi to Victoria too. I loved that you could have toast too ! Awesome idea.
Tent is great the river was making me a bit nervous. Not all the camp grounds are ok for fires unfortunately but plenty of location are. 😊👍
Go the VEGEMITE!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🇦🇺
Was delaying watching this video as car camping is not my thing.... It has now become my thing !!! Awesome job. Loved the intro - Abel does not talk until he has first coffee. Talk about a luxury camp. Thanks again for sharing mate.
Didn’t think I would like it either. Seems weird compared with normal back packing. It’s a different experience but being out in nature still is nice and having some more comforts is a novelty. Need to build up some
More luxury gear
Wow cool tent! Can’t wait to try it out ❤
👍
Great to see a video of this tent properly guyed out, that was a lot of rain. No problems with rain dripping in too much where the awning comes off the tent? We’ve found folding stretchers not ones that need assembled the best for us. Movers blankets for the tent floor are well worth taking, makes a huge difference in the cold, put a folded towel just inside the door for boots.
Lucky I guyed it all out. Very solid tent. The water came in a-bit due to rain driving it in the front door but no issues really. Zempire has some cool looking folding stretches and luxurious mattresses might need to get them
@@AbelandVictoria As I mentioned previously in a comment on another video here, I use EXPED megamat LXW 15s - but if I didn't have them (bought on a Boxing Day sale) my other choice would be the Zempire Monstamats - truly excellent products as are Zempire products generally. I use the EXPEDS on Zempire King Single stretchers - two of them, so they can be put side by side to form a queen size (not double) bed.
The quality, Value for money, and ease of setup is awesome - I'm very happy with them and could thoroughly recommend.
On the other hand if you wanted or needed something super small and light as regards pack size for transport, then the Helinox Convertible Cot max. But really, they're at their best for say kayaking or motorcycle touring where transport space might be an issue; conversely for packing so small they need assembling at the campsite (as against just unfolding the Zempire King Singles) and cost an arm, leg, and two kidneys.
For car camping, my money is on the Zempire King Singles with Monstamat or EXPED SIMS. :-)
Wow! Great set up. Wonderful tent, sleeping bag, power supply. All you need is man's best friend!
Absolutely!

One thing I love about bringing a power kit, I can run a heating pad in the sleeping pad at night :)
Very nice camping set up in rain greetings from India
Thank you
Man, nobody likes a wet pitch. Kudos for you even doing this one... 🙏
I guess Victoria has better things to do other than sitting in a tent in the pouring rain 🌧️ 😂
Hi. LIKE. LIKE. LIKE. FIREWOOD. &. DINNER.
A great idea for your video, I always park tight to the awning and take everything out the trunk.
Yeah I didn’t think of that. Or I could get a pull out awning from the car.👍😊
Once when I was a kid after 4 days solid rain, my dad did that. packed everything inside the back and then folded the tent up on the roof rack. 😃
Another great video Abel, really enjoyed it mate. Paul 🇬🇧
Cheers Paul appreciate it
Nothing like an ice cold Corona on a stormy winter day 😂
Lol
Loved it‼️
I love the car camping. The Zempire tents have good reviews from everyone that tries them. They seem very good quality👍 This video was very enjoyable and NZ looks an amazing place 👍
Yea tent was excellent good value. Thanks 😊
@@AbelandVictoria no worries just a shame the rain was so noisy lol.A pair of ear plugs may have helped you sleep better 😂😂
@@philgibbons7108 hmm yeah I like to be aware of sounds though. Maybe just don’t camp in extreme rain lol
I'm suggesting a Fish Bin or similar size container & some plastic rubbish sacks. Cant beat having these in your car for a wet tent & any other wet gear e.g. from tramping or kayaking.
Very impressed with the tent performance, product testing to the max Lol
Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah the tent is a beast. Hardly budged in the wind and no leaks very impressive. Very easy to set up also.
Can’t wait for the next one ☝️
Yeah it was fun need more bits and pieces for the ultimate set up
Holy smokes that was a lot of rain! It certainly was a good testimonial for your tent. Very impressed with how well it held up. I enjoy the car camp trips as much as the wild hike trips. In fact, with the car trips usually I get to see more gadgets. The only recommendation I can think of is to have an electric kettle with you while car camping in torrential rains. Having a fire inside the tent seems a bit dangerous. Hello to Victoria!
Tent is awesome. Yeah didn’t really like having the burner going like that inside. Vicotira says she will be on the next camp 🏕
Eating Vegemite like an Aussie!
It’s good stuff
That's a fair bit of rain. Camp stretchers and A 4WD Ute setup Like Tony's AB Camping. Great video. That's a lot of rain. Did the river level go up much.
To much over night not good. Yeah river was loud and making me nervous. Stretchers and some luxury mats would be good.
Love this video! You asked what you should get, I'd recommend a pair of wellies (gum boots, knee high rubber rain boots) Have fun, be safe (and dry)
Thanks for the tips!
Abel's on the grind. Bouta sleep like a baby 🫡😴
I didn’t lol

Thank you appreciate the feedback
Hi ya Abel, love your content as usual ,editing is👍love camping in the rain nothing like listening to it when it hits the Tent especially when your in Bed you you can get great tips from Tony AB camping, he gave a shout out to you and Victoria to help your channel along ,which i thought was a wonderful thing to do also love his Channel unfortunately Brucie has gone over the rainbow Bridge he has bruno to come back home from his Holiday abroad ,cant wait to see Victoria camping with you again your a beautiful couple ,anywho great Video thanks for showing us Stunning NZ ,love from m V from WA the Land Down Under 🥰🥰
Hey yeah the rain on the tent is lovely although there was abit to much in this video lol. I’ll consult with Tony. That snow peak grill he has looks incredible think I’ll need one of them. Yeah very sad about Bruce. Victoria will be back she is just very busy with work currently but in a few weeks time things should free up a bit
SHould have just put in the ear buds and went to sleep. No worries :):) Thanks for going out in that mess! Loved it!
Yeah now I know I can trust the tent. Lol no worries
I was just going to buy one of these tents and then this video popped up. Nice coincidence. It looks like a great tent.
Yeah it’s great. Only thing I don’t like is packing it away and drying it out.
@@AbelandVictoria The joy of camping in the rain... The BIG dry out later.
LOL. Awesome!! So many great things in this vid - 1. No talking for first few minutes - just the sights and sounds - such a great contrast to other content 2. Electricity!!! haha - Ground beans!! It happened 3. A pump-up tent - who would have thought - looks like a good one though 4. "Polishing off the Nachos...why the heck not!! 5. The rain....you need Subaru to sponsor you. LOL....car camping has a lot of potential. Lots of interesting spots out there...great one as usual and well done for getting out there no matter what!!
Haha thanks there are a lot of possibilities With this tent. It will be nice to break up the back packing every now and then with a more luxurious camp. That rain over night was relentless though couldn’t believe it.
Didn't notice anyone mentioning a third pole for center of awning. Less pooling.
Welcome
Enjoyed that buddy 👍
Thanks

No worries
You’re game having a fire so close to your tent. The embers blowing everywhere potentially burning holes in your tent and your new $300 jacket!!!!
So good mate. all you need relax mate.
Yep but to much rain lol
I was waiting for the part, where you had to get out of the tent in the storm to use the facilities. I'm guessing there wasn't a bathroom installed inside the cozy tent
You should tell us about some of these locations, how to get there, what to know etc well the ones you don't want to keep secret! 😊
Can you not guess? Lol. This is a well known and used spot
Quality!!!!!
Thank you appreciate it
Good conditions to try out camping gear, but appalling conditions to go camping! Looked a good tent, nice and waterproof, perfect for NZ! Good on you, thanks for the vlog!
Rain became to much lol. At least I know now the tent can take it
Extreme luxury camping 😂
I wish you could've just hung out.
Lol when the next day? To much storm
Hey bro.......i'm Rex from india, it is my first time watching your vlog and i really like the video and please dont mix your videos with luxury stuff and big love, respect from india.
What do u mean luxury? Lol what’s luxurious about sleeping in tents during storms
@@AbelandVictoria I mean if you don't use any expensive stuff for camping b'cuz so many can't afford it.
You need a lifted Ford Ranger with a 270 degree awning and roof top tent... wait... that's another channel out of New Zealand.
😂😂😂😂😂
Fords are for pussies lol
Lovely shots 😊
Thanks mate had to work hard for them in this one

I really enjoy these type videos had to sub💯💖🙏🏿
Thank you glad you enjoy it.
Thank you for beautiful video. Good afternoon happy Sunday from fiji lsland. Me and my husband subhash Naidu we liked the video. Regards to Victoria. We hope to see more video
Thanks appreciate it. Hope Victoria comes on the next camp
Non stop Rain?? Embrace that.
Nice easy viewing video, I wonder if Zempire will ever bring out an electric pump or one with battery leads. It's easy work but electric is easier. So many Powerstations on the market now. Mainly for 15L fridge. Battery box and solar panels take up so much room. Last Sunday packing up camp massive wind comes in and blew all 3 Zempire bags into the river, tent bag, ground sheet bag, awning bag. I retrieved all but lost most of the D shackle compression straps. You know how hard it is to pack up without those compression straps. And they are expensive to buy from zempire.
They do
I am a big fan of your videos but I miss Victoria. Say hello to her from Canada where we are just starting the warm weather. As to Car camping, I like that too but I just have to say you crossed the line with the toaster, Tsk Tsk ,and as to the coffee grinder I use a hand grinder for mine., Cheers from Canada
I want her to come along also and she will be back. We are really busy next few weeks so it’s hard for her to make time tom come along. Lol the toaster was great come on man. I do agree hand grinder would be preferable but I was testing out the battery so wanted to bring my little electric one
I commend the vegimite
👍🌧
G'day, VEGEMITE!! Onya mate! next U should have ANZAC bickies Great tent & Excellent car but mine is charcoal grey - excellent for car camping. Rain in NZ - wouldn't be NZ without it.
Suggestions? Most of my camping has been with 2-3 kids but
Picnic rug - doubles as a tent or vestibule floor.
Picnic back pack - easier than remembering to pack all the bits
Another great Vid
Garry
Vegemite is delightful. The tent is a beast held up great to the conditions. Feels like being in a house almost so much room compared to my little back packing tents. We have a picnic basket might bring that along next time. A tent floor would be pretty luxurious might need bigger car for all the gear although outback is pretty spacious
You need to move further south, we have better weather down here :-). Haha, great video mate.
I lived in Queenstown 7 years or so not sure about that lol. I cheers mate
Far too luxurious camping for my liking. I prefer traditional way of camping..But ths is a nice setting of tarp and tent.
Fair enough. Each to their own. Having a big tent is pretty cool though
Car camping ideas you say? lol Living in southern California near the desert and with an almost unlimited amount of sunshine and 14 day free camping sites, I jumped in with both feet by purchasing an enormous canvas tent *with a ground tarp to protect the floor, portable power supply, solar panels, an efficient 12v refrigerator/freezer, 12v shower system, and a porta potty(bucket type). Then came the LED camp lights, an outside food prep table as well as an inside of the tent table, sleeping cots, comfy self inflating sleeping mats. I noticed that you already have a couple winter bags that you can zip together. That's what we went with too. For 'cold' winter nights we purchased 12v heated blankets, a Big Buddy portable propane heater(indoor safe), and 20 lb tank. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that car camping opens up a lot of possibilities when it comes to gear. As my wife says, 'Just because we're camping doesn't mean we have to be uncomfortable'
Haha thanks for the comprehensive list of ideas 👍😀
@@AbelandVictoria 😂 both feet I'm telling you lol. Don't get me started on the collection of cast iron cookware and multi-burner cooktops, fire pits, pans, plates, and utensils. Literally everything except for the kitchen sink😂
I'm sorry but I have to ask. Did you open a bag of chips and the chips were at the top of the bag!?!? In the states the rip us off and 70% is just air.
I'm considering the Zempire Pronto 5 as it's the only inflatable iglo style tent however the shape of the canopy is holding me back. It traps water on top and doesn't cover the sides very well, weird design.
It’s easy to pull a side down. But yea the fly could come forward more
@@AbelandVictoriawhy did you chose the smaller Pronto 4 over the 5? If camping space is not an issue (like in your video), is there any advantage of having a smaller tent?
I have a pronto 4 and love it. Last year had 2 days of heavy rain non-stop and not a drop of water ingress. I found it best to shorten one of the awning poles by removing one of the four sections - this lowers one side and allows the water to pour off to the side so it doesn't pool (you could see Abel was worried about that). If it is REALLY windy the awning can be dropped and zippered down which seals out the weather completely so you don't have to get up in the middle of the night to check. I can fit a king single stretcher in it (which I couldn't do in my old dome tent) self-inflating 7cm Zempire mattress and sleep like a baby ... not sponsored by Zempire bye the way.
@@davids9450 I eventually decided against the Pronto 4 and bought the Dometic Boracay 301 instead as it has dedicated sleeping cabin with blackout fabric
Hi. LIKE. LIKE. LIKE. POTATO. CHIPS. &. BEERS.
Nice vid bro
Cheers mate
Love your videos bro. But your Vegemite spreading skills gave me anxiety 😁
Haha I knew someone was going to mention this
Not on this camp but I’m finding it hard to understand why you normally have a fire yet use so much gas to cook on and not the fire 🤔🤔🤔
I will use fire more now as I have a titanium grill that’s small and light. In nz it’s pretty hard to get fires going especially in the rain so I like to have gas as a back up.
Hi 👋🏻 what were the red ropes you used to attach to the carabiners and tent awning please? I have the Pronto 5 but no had the awning opened up yet.
Hey just some 4mm guy line with some like lock adjusters on them
how long does your power station last?
Ur direction and camera angles are great. Great jump cut editing. You are ready for a trip with Kierin. Trilobite flats ?
Thanks trying to improve with each vid. Kierin?
I don't think people realize what you had to do to make that first section. I was thinking "who is with him". Kierin Mckay also makes vids around Kahurangi,
Did you find if the tent leaked at all especially around the zip for leads to go through?
Not from memory
Awesome video!! Great job.
Which camera do you use in the rain? Action camera?
Thank. No I use my Sony a7c with umbrella

Hey that’s good 😊 yeah we will be going more. We live in New Zealand
Too much beer?
Zempire is quite expensive in the US, but I am considering it. Thoughts on yours having had it since last year?
Trial run for your honeymoon 😅 what brand is your new jacket? Nicely filmed in ridiculously challenging conditions.
Mac pac pheonix. Lol vicotira likes the look of the tent. Might take it out next weekend and cook a crayfish I have in the freezer lol
SLUUURP, GOOD BYE!
👍
Use ear plugs!
Another enjoyable video! Hey what is the brand/model of your new down jacket?
It’s mac pac pheonix. Don’t think it’s in production anymore. Its a bit bulky but should be good for what I do moving in and out of shelter in the snow and rain. I was going to get the mac pac arrow smith but it’s a bit delicate for what I do I think
RE the rain, get some good ear plugs mate...
Maybe I should. I kinda like to hear though

Oh brother please don't play chicken with your axe and try and move your hand out of the way while bringing the axe down. You can use a piece of sacrificial kindling to hold the wood in place at the top, or baton the axe, or wedge the wood into a hole or between two bits of wood. Trust me, I've chopped my hand before.
Ok I’m a noob
A tent tall enough to stand upright in makes all the difference doesnt it?
