Is it just me, or were Martin & Lewis funnier in their TV appearances (like this) than in their movies? I guess it's the ad-libs and the way they play off each other.
It's not just you. It's like Jerry Lewis said in his book "dean and me," the audience could feel how much they loved each other when they were playing together like this. they didn't have the same fun doing the movies, and so they feel differently to the viewer too.
Their personal happiness for each other crosses the screen here. If it had been possible to freeze time to prevent Jerry from growing up (especially physically) they wouldn't have broken up. Dean was madly in love with THIS Jerry. But how do you freeze the flow of time? Impossible.
Jerry admitted fame got to him and ruined this association with Dino, he got greedy. Nevertheless, you can see Jerry in interviews still speaking highly of Dino and missing him a lot.

What is the date of this episode? I love how Jerry keeps rubbing eyes because he’s tired. He was very handsome. It’s crazy to think he was 26 when this episode was filmed. This show is funnier than 90% of what’s currently on TV.
