This is actually very profound observation about the culture of the Appalacians. It is difficult to have a strong culture when you don't have a unified ethnicity with a unique culture. There is nothing racist about it, it is just difficult to find that unity and culture with so many different people groups. It isn't about being white, it is about all being the same.
