Glad to come across your video. My mother and a lot of my family is from Greenup. I grew up in Dayton OH but made many trips to Greenup in the 1960's and 70's. We would cross the bridge in Portsmouth and travel US-23 when it was still a two-lane road hugging the side of the hills along the river. Used to go to the Greenup Co Fair next to the old high school. Used to walk downtown for fun. My mother was taught by Jesse Stuart back in the day. Lots of memories. Thanks again.
I live in Louisville and have loved Jesse Stuart since i was a girl. I went to Jesse Stuart Weekend this past Sept and got to tour several sites related to him. Beautiful town!
You missed the Greenup Damn But you would not be allowed to upload your video. I tried uploading a video of It and because of terror treats they don’t allow it
Yes! We have been down there and they have security cameras up, and fencing! I do remember a time when you could walk up there and look down on the barges going through! It was so nice to do! Thanks for your comment! Take Care, Michael and Jenny On UA-cam!
@@MichaelandJennyOnUA-cam yes! I live now also grew up right across the Greenup Bridge on the Ohio side. I am so close I used to ride my bicycle to the Damn. Walk to the top of the building and look down over the water. On the Ky side you were allowed to Climb the Damn wall and look over into the Locks. I grew up boating there and going through the Greenup Locks. Has family reunions on the Ky side under the shelters by the Locks.
Thanks for visiting our little town and for being respectful in doing so.
Thank you for your comment!! Take Care, Michael and Jenny 🙂
