Lump jaw can occur from a cracked tooth by chomping on a hard material. The tooth root/tip nerve has live blood nutrition that gets attacked by bacteria once tooth is cracked. Then pus kicks in and has no way to go. Over time the body will develop a fuser to drain the pus sack most of the time after the tooth nerve is dead and most times the tooth will actually fall out too. The abscess is basically a bag of dead white cells called pus used to attach and control the bacteria growth incased in a membrane bag developed by the body fighting the bacteria. That bag is what you saw plugging up the drain incision. I thought you did an absolute beautiful job on the cow. Hope she appreciates her owner.
Hi good video 👍🏻 ! Years ago we use to get those same lumps in r cows and we would drain the same way! An old style vet told us to feed organic iodine to the cows but u needed to feed more then they would free choice . We feed silage and would sprinkle the organic iodine over the feed in r mixer wagon . It was a powder. I’d say it prevented a lot of the lumps because after we started doing it never had many after that! You do have to watch with bred cows that u don’t over feed it thou they can abort from it . We had about 80 cows and I think we feed about a pound a day or every other day depending we didn’t feed silage everyday 😎

I did watch your video. I'm an animal lover so some of these videos are sad to me. When you said the dogs come and basically lick up after the drainage, doesn't that make them sick????
Lumpy jaw is caused by a fungus. Not all abcesses will result in Lumpy jaw. The fungus has to find it's way into a wounded to result in Lumpy jaw. So to say if you don't get to an abscess soon enough that it will turn to bone is not accurate. Most abscesses will not result in Lumpy Jaw. Just because there is a giant lump (abscess) doesn't make it lumpy jaw.

That lump seems to be an abscess, which is basically a pocket of infection. If left untreated the infection can spread to the bloodstream (called sepsis or septicemia) which can be life threatening and/or spread to the bone (osteomyelitis). The lump doesn’t turn into bone, the infection actually invades the bone and destroys it. Those are the holes you see in the photos of the skulls and jaws. I am not a veterinarian. I am a nurse and have seen many cases where untreated infections basically eat away at the bone.

Aww don’t put him in the freezer. He is so sweet.😢
They aren't puppies, dear. Don't be ridiculous
How can you raise animals and not have vinyl gloves? Water is not an antiseptic.
I have gloves but I don’t know I would use them on that particular case my hands didn’t get dirty. And I disinfected everything around The puncture wound and the tool are used. Disinfectant is disinfectant for the most part.
That was not water it was disinfectant.
Don’t let the dog eat that. It can have staph in it. What are you thinking.
Honestly what I’m thinking is you don’t have much experience on a ranch.
also put the head in the halter and tie it to the clamp one way prevents head from moving holy crap
You’re welcome to come on out and show me how to do it anytime you’d like, generally with animals less than 1000 pounds you can just told them, I keep forgetting I got Gilian beret and not as strong as I once was.

Recomend flushing with iodine solution really good to clear infection. Furthermore, the vitamin is really quite unnecessary, and giving them more than needed is a waste of money as they can only utilize so much, and the rest is voided through the urine.
The vitamins was because the calf was stunted. It did seem to help.
Q tío más salvaje, en vez d sujetarle la cabeza, anda con esos modales, tirándole d las orejas! Muy mal!!! Es un tipo sin escrúpulos! NO LE VUELVO A VER MÁS!
Pain killer?????.
You disinfect with WATER ???
Oh actually I didn’t, i’m not even gonna tell you what I disinfected with you can rewatch the video and be offended yet again. Looking forward to your how to video where you can have a bunch of know what all people that sit on their couch and watch things instead of do things and criticize everything they’ve never done. Do you have a great day probably criticizing somebody else on UA-cam, nice career are you got going on there.
I haven't seen that in forty years. But then I'm out with the cattle all the time and the sheep s it is dealt with quickly.
I don’t understand how farmers can let these things go so long? These animals are your life. It’s obvious from some of the photo’s they’ve been suffering a long time.
So true ... and I see more and more of these videos so I’m just wondering what is in our beef that we buy from the store. Do we have abscesses and Lumpjaw and everything else? 🤮🤮
You don't know anything about cattle. These things happen very quickly. I have been a farmer my whole life and I've had cattle that were just fine and 48 hours later had an abscess that I'm sure you would say had obviously been there a long time.
C'est honteux il existe des anesthésié pour faire ces pratique en plus avec un couteau HONTEUX
Add flushing out with iodine removing any chunks and you have the rest down ....
why didn't u give something for pain before yo u cut it open
It doesn't work
Poor baby😰
