It helps that he also spent a good part of his youthful years doing sports and fitness. It's an excellent investment into future health. You are right that the damage caused by poison is often hidden until we stop.

I am 40 years old, I was a drug user from 19 until 41 years old, i stopped to use alcooholl 5 months ago, and I quit all kinds of drugs. I was sick, I still feel the effects in my body, damage in my brain, memory fucked up, self esteem issues, and developed in my bipolar disorder and boarderline, I was afraid to loose my son. I am scared, because around me just exist friends with high levels of addiction.
Your video my friend it is a big inspiration!
    Thank you!!!

I'm your age Johnny and have 60 years under my belt of mostly on drinking. Only until very recently did I say to myself, " well, you've been there and done that, may be time to take a break from this mess"! I have well over 200 days of being off, and I have never felt better, especially those mornings! More power to you Johnny O!

RM that is so awesome to hear! More power to YOU too! I hope you are sill at it. Yes, yes, 60 years old, not a time of life you want to put alcohol in your body. I've now developed quite a disdain for the substance...you know that alcohol is both water soluble & fat soluble, meaning, it can damage every cell in your body....

I had the EXACT same binge type drinking.. it only take 1 drink to set it off for 2-4 weeks. I have a picture of myself that is just like yours. I am 51 and drank most my life. But I went to rehab and they didnt understand. They only knew how to deal with people that drank every day. They didnt understand this 3-4 giant binges a year. I also used Xanax. I finally quit on my own also. I did hospital detox multiple times and so many rehabs. I also used to text my family and talk trash but also ask for help. I know EXACTLY what you went through. Oh also, when sober I ate the best of food, grass fed, pasture raised eggs, No sugar, intermittent fasting, gong to gym...... then click, trash it all for a month of drinking.

Thanks MM! I'm even better now. The first year away from alcohol I was substituting at night with a lot of carbs & sugars... I finally got rid of that and now focus on a high protien diet with some vegetables and take fish oil everyday. It wasn't until then that I finally started to turn into a fat burning machine once again. My metabolism was 'stuck' and I thought it was because I was getting old because it was so hard to take the weight off. But these changes worked wonders....

I quit at 48 because I didn’t want to go into my 50s with my drinking as it was getting worse as I aged , I was only a one day a week binge drinker at the weekend, it’s a terrible curse if you let it get a hold of your psyche .

Wow... You did a great thing! I`m looking up to you! I can feel the energy coming from your words. your way of binge-drinking reminds me so much of myself. For me it`s only been 20 years in this cycle. I was also the very secretitive about my drinking, often drank alone, checked calendars to sort of have some kind of control of how much I was drinking. Nutrients also helped me out a lot, I feel when I`ve eaten the wrong things... need loooads of protein, less carbs, good nutrients from greens, apples, oranges, omega 3. I feel so much better than before, still tired in the mornings, but I think that`s just because I love to be up late in the night.

Antonio that is great to hear - make sure to follow Fit Recovery 'on & on'. ;-) Yes, the glutamine is KEY. It is an amazing amino acid which really works on alcohol & sugar cravings as well. I've now at the point where alcohol is a 'moot' substance as Chris likes to say, and am focusing on my overall health. I definitely recommend (in the health department) that you consider taking fish oil, CBD oil along with your other regimines and try to stay away from carbs & sugar as much as you can. ....also Do you know that alcohol is both water soluble & fat soluble, meaning, it can damage every cell in your body? John

Hitting a very similar note myself with Sixty looming into view on the ageing path. I don’t get black out or staggering drunk but I do drink most days and the feeling that I should stop keeps recurring. So far not a resounding success but I am hopeful that, with enough self persuasion regarding just how bad it is for me, I will gather the will to put the glass down and not pick it up again.

Try this method, go 3 days without, then drink, now go 4 days without, then drink, now 5 days without, then drink, 6 days without, then drink, 7 days without....once you hit 10-15 days without, the willingness to even drink on the appointed day seems like who cares....

Regardless of the path, method, or program, the foundation for sobriety is established when we STOP focusing on "not drinking". Sobriety demands rigorous honesty with ourselves, and nothing will change until we have had our asses severely kicked enough, and long enough to START moving our feet differently.
Nobody "thinks" their way sober...it requires ACTION! If I need a gallon of milk, I can think about it all gdamn day long, but if I don't get the phuck up and go to the store, I'll still need a gallon of milk. In today's world people will say, "I can get a gallon of milk delivered". Very true, but not so with sobriety. Alcoholism, a FATAL condition, doesn't give a phuck who comes to your door! All the best...Mark 5/8/1994
