  • MotoGeo rode the Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS thousands of miles to Texas Hill Country to test its long distance comfort and cornering capabilities.
    The powerful inline four-cylinder engine derived from the Ninja ZX-14 combined with touring technology, blend together to give this large sport tourer an aggressive sporty attitude with a relaxed riding position.

    How fitting. The 7:47 mark is where you’ll want to go back and listen to, time and time again.

    I bought a new Concours 14 in 2010. Still have it, still love it! I've done some enhancements. I lowered mine since I'm only 5'6" and it's a fairly heavy bike especially if you can't touch the ground solidly. I also installed a ZX-14 header and converted to dual exhausts. Handle risers to give a bit more upright feel. Larger windshield, custom seat, K/N air filter, and had the ECU reflashed professionally. The bike is very fast and responsive.

    I rode Hill Country on my 2012 C14 after the 2013 Austin MotoGP. I unlinked my brakes a long time ago, so much better. Also got a Guhl reflash to open the secondary butterflies much earlier, way more oomph down low. A few more mods (HID headlights to burn the paint off the license plate of the car in front of you holding you up, insanely loud horn) to make it nice, now the only problem is always replacing tires because when you ride a 700 lb bike hard, it eats tires. Whatever, that's what it's for. Got to ride mine yesterday, 43 and sunny, gotta take what you can get in January!

    Another great video Jamie. I especially liked the clip at high speed from ground level. I have a Concours 14 and it definitely is a "land rocket"!
    The exhaust may not be too impressive sounding off the bike, but on the bike it truly sounds exhilarating with that big engine revving.

    Nice bike. I have a 2012. If you get one I would recommend getting the ecu flashed. The factory tune programming leaves the potential of the bike untouched. It can produce a lot more power than what it comes with. I recommend Shoodaben Engineering for all concours 14 flashes of which they have three.

      +Alberto Knox I'm just seeing this post a year late, but no it doesn't. the bike is limited to 156MPH in the 2010-2015 models, and the 2008-2009 bikes had a hard time getting to 160. I've been to the limit, and the wind screen never moves on it's own.

    What's this bike like compared with the Honda Blackbird, I used to own a Blackbird which I loved riding, but couldn't take the heat of the engine and the leaning on the wrists anymore, is this bike any better for those issues? The Concours looks slightly more comfy from what I can see, no reviews have mentioned the heat being an issue either? Any advice much appreciated.

    • @choppertj1
      @choppertj1 8 років тому +1

      The 2009 n earlier models are hot! In 2010 they changed the faring to deflect a lot of it. The stance doesn't have you leaning on the bars too much either. I hate that and I can ride this thing ALL day. I'm in Phoenix so the heat was also an issue for me. I had an FJR n got rid of it for a Connie! GREAT BIKE

      It's a sport touring motorcycle and this constant crying for cruise control is a nonsense, if you feel you need it give your throttle cables a lub...

      You can always buy an after market cruise control kit.

    The great sinner and this bike is: does not have electronic cruiser control.

      Fabio Santos NO cruise! That’s the only thing that kept me from buying the KAWASAKI! I ENDED UP BUYING THE FJR1300 WITH CRUISE! OTHER WISW A VERY NICE SPORT TOURER!!!!!

      I saw someone that had a throttle lock on theirs; seems like the way to go on the older Connie’s.

      A Kaoko throttle lock is very helpful. It's not "real" cruise control, but it's at least a way to give your hand and wrist a break from time to time, which is the main thing. Wish mine had cruise, but I wouldn't consider it a deal-breaker.

    This was very good.... I am a vlogger on UA-cam also and did my own review of the Concours/GTR 1400 a little over a year ago. They are great bikes. If you get the time check out my vid and let me know what you think.
