I love these videos! I have just one tiny piece of feedback: The talking is too quiet and the sound effects are too loud, especially that slideshow clicking thing. I need to hear more of you!

My question is, how long, with consistent practice, does it normally take to be able to reach moderate tempos like 140-160bpm? I’ve been trying to play double-bass for more than 5 years off and on and I’m not feeling much progression. I’ve been following your beginners tips for 6 weeks and have felt some improvement, but I still can’t play past 105bpm without losing control. A month ago I couldn’t go past 100, so that’s great 😁!

So would you recommend sticking to full leg motion when I have no intent to go faster than 140 bpm?
Why do some drum teachers say that is wrong to use the whole leg, or the hip flexor when it seems to be the basic technique?
Thanks for the Great content. Grüße aus Deutschland

I can't speak for other drummer teachers. But I can tell you that I think it's fine to just use the flat foot technique (for example up to 140bpm) as main technique...

hi , I saw the video that you explain about how long to practice. I have to warm up for 10 minutes at slow speeds to be able to play at my maximum speed. Do I have to practice 30 minutes in total?

I'm a drummer for more than 10 years now. Most of the Time I gave a fuck on technique and that's why my double Bass drumming is very weak and depends a lot on my daily performance.
To solve that and finally begin to feel good while playing double bass, i started to work on the ankle technique for a few months now. My right foot (lead) is doing very well so far. I still cannot use it in my drumming, but bouncing the basketball at 180-190 bpm feels better and better. So far so good.
But: my left foot feels like shit. I do not have any feeling in that foot for the ankle motion. It feels like the right foot has something, that the left foot has not. I do not really know where to start working on that foot. It feels like nothing works for it. And thats very frustrating at the moment.
I'm doing 20 minute work outs nearly every day and try to do the left foot most of the time (like 2/3).
Do you have recommendations for that feeling.
Thank you for your great work!

it sounds like "wandering star" by portishead but actually it's just a random backing track from artlist (I think)
