Along with all of the other greatest artists who've ever performed music. Do him justice, he was groundbreaking, ethereal, exotic. Not just "one of the greatest"
@@avaallen5757 Yes it was here in New Zealand in 1978. He was touring with his Stage concert show. There is a good quality video of him live in concert in 1978 on UA-cam. It's from London Weekend TV . He sings Hang on to Yourself, one of my favorite Bowie songs. Worth checking out.
I love his personas, and the Thin White Duke era produced some excellent music. Bowie is a musical chameleon, and he’s excelled in every genre he’s ever embarked upon.
Saw “station to station” also At Olympia stadium in Detroit Circa 1976 - was one of my fav incarnations as well Loved the stark black & white bauhaus style. Great great show - def one of his best along with “ Sound&Vision” Circa 1990
I think attribution of the 'toxic' aspect to Bowie's Thin White Duke character, was probably the narrator's tactful way of referring to Bowie's persona itself; given he was going through his coke-addled, pompous, superiority-complexed, flirtation with nazi ideology stage.
Hes so oddly handsome and SUPER talented. My father unfortunately passed, but he made me listen to bowie and used to give me money if i could name the song and the album. As a teenager I was annoyed but fast forward now...im almost 40 and i feel blessed he educated me in classic rock.
I wrote a paper on his alter egos and its relation to professionalism and creating a work/private life boundary. I like to imagine myself being paid at work not just for my skills, but also to be who they want me to be. Its something that allowed him to put it down and live on from the acts as a man in his own life.
No matter what era you discover Bowie no matter your age take comfort in the fact that your first exposure to his muse ic, is but a taste of the delicious pie that is his back catalogue. Happy days, Good times.
David Bowie is the Punk Rock of all. He is a timeless musician that his music in some way and time and format speaks to people now and always. Punk Rock as he refuses to conform to whatever ideals were put on him. That is Punk. But made music he liked and loved and it still speaks to to generations upon generations. The song Changes says it all.
Bowie had his highs and lows and kept charging on. I think he took the bad and used that to pivot on and incorporate it into his music. I get more out of the instrumentals on Low than any piece of music I ever heard. Pure masterpiece. Just marvelous, you feel the pain and isolation, desperation. Just an remarkable artist who is my favorite artist.
His statement on the content over the dressing of a show must be sounding like the dellusion of a drug addict nowadays, now that the wrapping is absolutely everything you'll get 😊
I was very young when I went to his infamous concert in Rochester and I was so sad because he had cut his tan hair and was wearing a large tan suit. He showed a movie involving ants crawling on an eyeball that was sliced open with a razor blade. I had missed Ziggy entirely.
@@tr7198It would sound like the delusion of a drug addict to the current generation because nowadays it is style over substance. They couldn't even begin to understand the profound statement that Bowie made, because that idea just doesn't connect with them. (At least, that is what I surmised from the original poster's statement)🙂

Called make up
His teeth look like he never brushes them😮
No no. Its the cigarettes and drugs. We love his teeth. Look at him 83, 86. Same teeth
I had the joy of seeing David Bowie in concert in 1978.
Isolar II is considered his best tour in his whole career, how fortunate! ♥️⚡️

I saw him that same year too! In April of 1978 in Oakland CA.
Me too, at Maple Leaf Gardens here in Toronto
It's this interview that made me fall in love with Bowie and his music.. He was so intelligent, eloquent and witty 😅
Though in this case he stated the biggest obvious thing of his career…
Perfunctory ❤❤❤Bowie is so!
The music was always good. All the style he added was just frosting on the cake

I thought the Station to Station gig I saw at Wembley was amazing… the Thin White Duke was one of my favourite ‘Bowie incarnations!’

That's what kept Bowie on top.. Constantly changing his persona to fit with the times... But more so banging out brilliant songs
