I don't know if that would be the case considering Shadow in the Metarex arc supposedly doesn't remember anything about his past after he reawakens. I agree the show was probably drawing a parallel between Molly and Maria for us the audience, but Shadow himself wouldn't be able to associate Molly with Maria if he doesn't even remember her. At the end of the episode, Rouge does suggest to Shadow that Molly may have reminded him of "Her" (Maria). But when Shadow seems confused about who the "Her" Rouge is referring to is, Rouge then adds "Or not," realizing Shadow doesn't remember Maria and doesn't know who she's talking about.

The fact that Molly actually dies, Chris gets stabbed, Maria gets shot, and Cream is in love with a robot? Damn, Japanese people are wild. Oh yeah and Cosmo f*cking dies.
The biggest issue with Chris though is that he took too much screen time away from the other characters. And then he still had his grandfather and friends from school. If they further wanted to emphasize his loneliness, they should have maybe written his friends or parents to be more toxic. And maybe just weed out some of Chris’s episodes because he took a lot of time from Amy and tails.

Yes, Sonic Satam, Sonic Boom and Sonic Prime are kinda fun in their own way, but there is no such level of maturity and story-building like in Sonic X. Sonic fans are just hella picky.

Cosmo dying is literally Sonic's fault, because he had the chance to kill Dark Oak right in the first fight against him, but he held back for the sake of amusement. This then forced him to scatter the Emeralds throughout the galaxy, dragging numerous planets into the war and resulting in Cosmo's eventual death. And here's the really messed up thing. Sonic never really owns up to this or talks to Tails after that episode. Their friendship ended and it never fixed itself. Sonic only came back at the end to fight Eggman, not as a friend. Yeah, this show was kind of f---ed up when you think about it. It's probably one of the reasons why Sega keeps making excuses for why they don't want to use these characters in anything.
Nah it's all wrong. It was hinted already in Episode 69 that she will die eventually. When Earthia became a tree because she "killed" Luchs and co from that moment their fate was doomed. She even mentions that Cosmo will suffer a lot. All this happened because Cosmo's species were in war against Molly's planet. And top of that,Molly's family that started it all. Luchs wanted to survive but to do this he sacrificed their planet's energy and all the plants. Luchs and Aerthia loved each other until she finds out Luchs plan. And the funny thing that after he kills everyone except Cosmo(to use her ) he regrets all of that and his main goal became the one that Earthia loves the most: Narure. Luchs wants to use the chaos emeralds to make every planet out of plants and trees only. When he finally dies,Earthia forgives him in the afterlife. Their desire for their own goal what killed Cosmo not Sonic. Tails and Sonic's friendship still strong to this day. When Cosmo confronted him and gave a goodbye kiss,Tails knew that she died. Yet she wanted to believe that Sonic will somehow saves her. Tails blamed Sonic only because he couldn't accept the fact that she truly died. Sonic was there so Tails can let out all his cry. The last scene you mentions is very simple. Sonic was angry because Eggman sent Chris home without any goodbye. It has nothing to do with Cosmo or Tails. Hope my English is acceptable haha.

Sonic the Hedgehog is not a “kids franchise.” It’s an everyone franchise. That means it has to tell the story and not ruin it. That means that they need to try to make it work, and not hide under the “it’s just for kids” excuse. And even then, shows made for PRESCHOOLERS understand that better. Take Bluey, one of my favorite shows of all time. They didn’t shy away from miscarriage or insecurities, and they tackled it in a respectful way. Another example is from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, which is still to this day, my favorite show of all time. He covered assassination! And he treated it with thoughtfulness and care. If shows designed for a younger demographic can do it, so can 4Kids. Oh wait, I forgot 4Kids doesn’t have any balls. Or effort. Or respect for other cultures. Or anything really.

Sonic X Eggman was the most based out of all of them. Dude was more a father figure to several of the characters than he was an actual villain. Will never not love this iteration.
If you make a second clip, include some of Shadow's darkest parts as well! I love that the anime wasn't afraid to make Sonic darker and more nuanced, feels like that's lost in modern Sonic stories these days. Feels way too kid friendly now.
He became much more lifefull after Sonic arrived. And he also got courage to do dangerous situations. When Sonic and co can go home,he fears that all his courage will fade away and his life become boring and meaningless again. Sonic gave Chris that his parents didn't do. Spend time with him and teach a lot of thing.
This was never what Chris struggled with tho? His story is about his parents not being around when he grew up. Which is realistic take on children who have parents that work 24/7 and have no time for them.
This last scene with Cosmo is the sole reason I don't want to watch this anime again. The whole show is so good but I know I'll just cry for days afterwards.

Update: I just found out Lupin III makes a CAMEO in an episode briefly in a background crowd. The anime was also made by the same company that made Sonic X Something I noticed about Sonic's expressions in this show: he really has some similar expressions and animations to Lupin The Third (specifically in his sillier adaptations (The Castle of Cagliostro, Farewell to Nostradamus, Bye Bye Lady Liberty, The Fuma Conspiracy)) It's honestly really fitting for him. I miss Sonic having warmer facial expressions. (Good example is the scene at around 2:10 with the lil robot guy)
Additional fun fact: Tokyo Movie Shinsha also animated SatAM and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and is now owned by Sega. Technically speaking, most of the Sonic TV shows are in-house productions.
Tails having an emotional breakdown was absolutely devastating when I first watched it, especially after Cosmo is gone and he blames Sonic for not being the hero and saving her. 😭
That's b'cuz these characters are only cash grabs in recent games and medias. Plus with English writers handling them but don't really understood them and the cultural writing differences. (That includes ian as well. Sorry for those who like his work, but they're inaccurate and so they are his own take of the characters and writing.)
@@crimsonzone8984 I agree. Ian makes some strange writing decisions, such as removing Amy's affection for sonic(or at least toning it down greatly) and making her a girl boss. Sonic is also moreso of a generic hero now, and IMO just lacks quite a lot of energy. Frontiers plot was also kinda progressed in a slow manner, not befitting of a sonic story.

Sonic the Hedgehog is not a “kids franchise.” It’s an everyone franchise. That means it has to tell the story and not ruin it. That means that they need to try to make it work, and not hide under the “it’s just for kids” excuse. And even then, shows made for PRESCHOOLERS understand that better. Take Bluey, one of my favorite shows of all time. They didn’t shy away from miscarriage or insecurities, and they tackled it in a respectful way. Another example is from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, which is still to this day, my favorite show of all time. He covered assassination! And he treated it with thoughtfulness and care. If shows designed for a younger demographic can do it, so can 4Kids. Oh wait, I forgot 4Kids doesn’t have any balls. Or effort. Or respect for other cultures. Or anything really.

Update: I just found out Lupin III makes a CAMEO in an episode briefly in a background crowd. The anime was also made by the same company that made Sonic X
Something I noticed about Sonic's expressions in this show: he really has some similar expressions and animations to Lupin The Third (specifically in his sillier adaptations (The Castle of Cagliostro, Farewell to Nostradamus, Bye Bye Lady Liberty, The Fuma Conspiracy)) It's honestly really fitting for him. I miss Sonic having warmer facial expressions. (Good example is the scene at around 2:10 with the lil robot guy)
Additional fun fact: Tokyo Movie Shinsha also animated SatAM and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and is now owned by Sega. Technically speaking, most of the Sonic TV shows are in-house productions.

Sonic is also moreso of a generic hero now, and IMO just lacks quite a lot of energy. Frontiers plot was also kinda progressed in a slow manner, not befitting of a sonic story.
