  • Do Companies SELL Your Job Application Data? The Shocking Answer!
Your company is probably selling your personal salary and other data. The worst part is that you haven't consented, nor do they care. This includes your salary, pay history, unemployment claims records, personal addresses, and much more. If you're a job seeker, they may also use this data when you apply for a job.
Here's what you can do about it.
DeleteMe can help you scrub your employment and salary data from data brokers:
    www.JoinDeleteMe.com/LAYOFF
(PS...use code LAYOFF to get 20% off!)
    0:00 - Intro
1:02 - Your company is (probably) selling your data
2:36 - Equifax knows a scary amount about you
4:10 - The "Work Number" website resells it to data brokers
7:00 - How to remove your personal info
9:58 - Leaders admit they'll sell your info regardless
10:51 - What States are doing about it
11:33 - Fake jobs that steal your data

Then you have to deal with the fake job ads, robo calls, multiple hiring sessions, and now well its been having for several years now selling your personal private data. This is beyond sickening, united states corporate structure and procedures need more workers and legal teams to work to combat this, and pass more stricter privacy data laws prohibiting employers from doing this and the brokers and equifax.

In the past couple of years, some states have tried to regulate some degree of salary transparency with respect to posting a range in the job posting for the role.
If it were feasible to buy a dataset of 'professionals like me (and maybe 1-2 steps up the org chart) in my metro area for my industry (and similar industries), that could potentially be quite valuable in a job hunt or salary negotiation.

@@charliedallachie3539 Actually, it's just the opposite. The older population is more irate about this because that generation lived with more privacy. They didn't have databases, they had card catalogs. Watch the movie or read the story of Erin Brokovich - she had to go to the physical water board and manually poor through records to find what she wanted. The younger population far more often puts personal information out there without thought, and many are just seasoned to believe there is no privacy. Governments, however, from local to federal, love it because it makes it easier for them to get whatever data they want.

The problem with these services is that you have to give them all your pii. So now they have confirmed pii for you that is more valuable than the scraped and gathered stuff that the other data brokers had. They might not sell your data directly, but they may sell the company. The value of which comes largely from their exclusive access to your data.

If you did that with employers they wouldn't be able to link the data back to you.
