I started watching you back when you played every cod title. I really love your style and the way it’s grown as you’ve become more experienced. Keep grinding hammie.
In my experience Steam will give you a pdf of the manual for older games (basing this on the Baldurs Gate games, Fallout Games, and Morrowind and Oblivion, so for spinoffs I'm not too sure). Those manuals were always fun to leaf through as a kid, even if I didn't know what they were saying half the time they usually had lore and some illustrations to enjoy.
One thing I dislike about older games is that a lot of them used to sell guides, players look back at it as games not holding your hands, but actually it was a money grabbing practice.
They included big ass manuals which told you everything you needed to know as well as providing establishing narrative bits and a monster manual most of the time.
Old games, especially PC games, came with giant manuals which often included maps, narrative bits, quest details and guides, cyphers and hints for riddles, explanations of systems, and beastiaries. For everything else, gamefaqs existed. You can google the Battlespire User Manual to see exactly what I mean. Everything is explained in detail.
UESP is the go to guide for all elder scrolls, i’ve been using it for morrowind since before it was a wiki and it was around well before that so really not much has changed in the 30 years of elder scrolls games
great video. definitely agree with you on the experience of these older games. UESP is as much as valid source as any of the many game guides officially sold
Regarding Redguard it's insane how you can have two storefront selling the same game (for similar if not the same price) but on GOG it's actually fixed game, or applied some user fixes that makes the game playable, and it's a drm free version of the game. Like how can it be allowed
Redguard and Battlespire are both really cool games, love to see more people getting to play them. Not good games, mind you. High HP punching builds are actually extremely OP in every bethesda game for some reason, I played FO3 and Oblivion with punch only builds and it makes the games a lot more fun than using guns and swords imo. Paralyzing Palm in FO3 is easily one of the most broken perks in any bethesda game to date. If you're interested in more spin-off games that are relatively underrated or untalked about the Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance games are always a fun time. I also think you might enjoy The Legacy of Kain series.
I have a question are you going to Make videos about superheroes Wonder woman and the flash and the teen Titans and Superman and Spider-Man villains next because you already did that with Batman so are you going to do these characters next.
The best thing to note about Redguard is that it launched less than a week before OCARINA OF TIME. Say what you will about him, but Todd had balls to do that.
Redguard and Ocarina of Time did not share the same market. Most gamers of that era stuck to just one device for gaming. The small percentage that had all or most devices was not considered relevant in that respect.
So because of this video, I got curious 🤔 and installed shadowkey, and was impressed this could been massive hit on PSX, but then again this was 2003/4 at that price one could get an xbox and a copy of Morrowind. Sadly I only discovered The Elder Scrolls with the massive stand of Oblivion at London HMV Store. I bought my 360 with Oblivion and Dead or alive 4. Luckly I bought the guide of Oblivion with the game. And so it started, my obsession with Oblivion. Since i sucked at DoA4 cause that game is hard. I only played oblivion for months. What an experience, then after all this years Oblivion still is my favorite. The exprience of your first Elders Scrolls is quite something. The freedom, the exploring ✨️, the see that mountain ⛰️ I wonder if I can walk there... indeed I can. Few games give that sense of wonder. Even Shadowkey, despite the 2 meters draw distance, it's quite marvel at 100mhz cpu. Wonder how if it runs as good as in the emulator on real hardware. 🤔
Despite its widespread love and fame I never got into any of the Elder Scrolls games. Why you ask. One word: leveling. The fact you have to use a certain skill or perform an action in order to level up said skill or action is what makes shake my head in disgust. Being the RPG junkie I am I’m more used to the traditional way of leveling up. As in earning experience points then having the freedom to select said skill or action based on what level you gained and how many points you put into said skill. I will not deny it’s indelible mark on the industry but this just isn’t for me……. Still want Elder Scrolls VI to release and knock the critics socks off though.
It’s mostly an issue of people forgetting that manuals are a thing. People forget that back then games didn’t have the luxury of tutorializing themselves in lengthy intro sequences. I can’t remember the last time I got a new game that actually came with a detailed manual. I agree that old games almost always came with manuals that solve 90% of people's issues with them it’s just you have to know or remember
@ yea I know people forget stuff but this guy plays old games on UA-cam for a living and is friends with Scott the Woz, a guy who presumably knows quite a bit about old games. He's not coming at this from zero knowledge
Just here to say I've beat you to this including main line games, also it's been over a year since I've touched a woman not sure how these are related just figured I'd throw that in there
I don´t get why people always use the steam version of an old game when there is a community patched version on gog. But probs to not just testing these games but also finishing them. I´d not have that patience :D
i really would've put a couple hours into daggerfall to understand what's going on in battlespire. not really that it'd help you, more like it'd at least prepare you for dumb bullshit
Another banger video 🙌 I genuinely love your content. Sidenote though, I think the floating head aesthetic is off-putting. I think it'd be less distracting if you had normal webcam footage in the corner, or no webcam footage at all. That's just my 2 cents though!
Gamers are really spoilt nowadays. I didn't have and didn't need a guide when I played *Redguard.* There were no parts that seemed overly hard to figure out. The combat required a bit of patience to get comfortable with. Other than that, you just need to realize that it's very disadvantageous to fight more than one enemy at once. Use the environment and kite them into favorable positions. I'm not a genius. Gamers have just been pampered by the current standards of game design that aim to bait and please everyone, including the densest minds.
you shouldn't fell bad about the obtuse puzzles and unexplained mechanics/objectives. the games back then were made in such a way that people HAD to buy those game guides. after all they were getting a cut of the profits from selling them.
And it's way too big. Blocks the gameplay. And too distracting. Imagine watching a video only to have someone waving their head in your faces nonstop. ☠
Man you do such good videos; but the desparity of your good to boring content is so jarring... I get you are trying something new. This I can already tell what every game will review at; badly, the older games are clunky and not as fun as the mainline series. The modern games are microtransaction hell. Very easily summed up but here we are for an hour. Same with the records; I'm even into vinyl and I just don't care that a random band I've never heard of printed orange peel into their vinyl, all the cool vinyls I know I either own or are from reputable artists. I haven't cared about monster energy since I was 12, and yet we spent an hour on it. Cod mobile; a slog. Cod ds; double slog. The Mario kart circuit is far and away some of your best work, even some of the "watching every best picture film" is pretty good but there are glaring lulls. You do you man truly if this makes you happy then full steam ahead, but I've lost my steam dude I'm not gonna lie.
It's a good thing he's making what he wants to make, and not making what you want him to make. Your criticism is not only invalid, it is childish, immature, and makes you come off as someone of extremely low intelligence.
@ I love youtube because I can make measured and thought of criticism. Only to have "no u" thrown back then a base insult just to further nothing. Do you know how easy it is to sway away critiscism from a bad actor?

Tbf with the lack of instructions, a 1990s PC game like Battlespire was probably originally sold with a big user's guide booklet included in the box.

Create a problem and sell you solution. Literally.
Cruelty Squad pfp lol
Guy who doesn't know gamefaqs had existed since the mid 90s
They included big ass manuals which told you everything you needed to know as well as providing establishing narrative bits and a monster manual most of the time.

great video. definitely agree with you on the experience of these older games. UESP is as much as valid source as any of the many game guides officially sold
Redguard is FULL of lore and created the Elder Scrolls lore we know today!

I truely enjoy Battlespire and Redguard but I LOVE Elder Scrolls! If you like the series, check those two out!
use a guide for both however.
Time to build Lego sets on Christmas.
We need more of the "zoomers play boomer games" genre. This was a treat to watch.
She Stormhold on my Battlespire til I Redguard
Where's new cod video, James
Should've called part 1 or something like that

Bro, I am not watching your disembodied head yap for an hour.
holy shit it's the talking head
Zardoz!
Same as it ever was
Who is this bootleg drew durnil in my recommendations? And why does his floating head make me uncomfortable?
We didn't forget, we chose not to remember.
Not gonna lie, I hate that you put your head all over the video. Could've at least stuck to one corner
A W A K E N
Why does nobody read the manuals before playing old games?? All of your complaints about Redguard are solved by reading the manual.

Nah, bro, it's not a "game of its time" thing. Redguard's puzzles were god awful even when it came out lmao.
you shouldn't fell bad about the obtuse puzzles and unexplained mechanics/objectives. the games back then were made in such a way that people HAD to buy those game guides. after all they were getting a cut of the profits from selling them.
Im not a big fan of having to stare at your face for over 20 min bro. The gameplay alone wouldve been great
cool video, pity about the face blocking a quater of the screen
I love battlespire and redguard, unironically some of my favorite games in the series. but yeah they’re dogshit don’t play them
The constant moving head is very nauseating.
And it's way too big. Blocks the gameplay. And too distracting. Imagine watching a video only to have someone waving their head in your faces nonstop. ☠
Nope lost me in under 10 seconds it is elder not aulder
Last
Get a load of this guy’s ego. You really think we need to see your face? Kinda gay

I don't think his videos are for you.
@@SaltPep they aren't. I've come to the conclusion 1% of his content is good, and 99 percent of his fan base are children who can't handle criticism.
