Been listening to this band for 3 years now. This is my favorite song lyrically ever written. Here’s why. For those that don’t know it’s about Sundowners or Sundowning Syndrome. It’s a form of dementia or Alzheimer’s where the patient shows their symptoms of dementia primarily at night. Being a fireman, my captain told me when I first started my career about this form of dementia. Since then I’ve seen a handful of patients with this disease and it’s usually the patients significant other that can’t understand why their loved one is so confused or seems to have lost all memory of who they are. To me it’s one of the saddest things to see someone go through. To add to this I’ve lost my grandmother to Alzheimer’s and last night lost my grandfather who has had dementia for many years. To think that “Vessel” made a song about this topic absolutely blows my mind. The lyrics are absolutely spot on. I wish I could hear his story as to what drove him to make a song about this and name this album after it.
I work has a social worker, it is one of my favorite song ever too ... You got me the chills with your story ... I'm sorry for everything that happened to you and your family ! I feel like I could talk with you for hours an hours ! big love bro
Wow....thank you for adding perspective here. This song already provoked something in me before reading your comment. To know the real meaning adds even more beauty/tragedy into this song.
Yeah man; super intriguing insight. I sorta approached the lyrics previously as describing a relationship with a girl (or boy, or deity, whatevz) who only seems to let him in - so to speak - at night _(“Give me the night, the night, the night”)._ Or maybe even simply referring to his communion with ‘Sleep’, kinda like people who spend too much time practicing lucid dreaming. I think different people being able to find their own meaning in something is what makes a song truly great though, as is the same with any art. Again, really wonderful insight though, thank you.
Jake.....that's so hard to go through as an outsider, to see someone close go through also although they don't really know anymore. Wonna tell you that I appreciate it you explaining this song what it's about!! Now it has a completely different meaning to me....sooo much more intense...then it already was to me! Thank you so much! 🖤🖤
When you live by daylight With angels at your side In order now bestowed by The light of the sunrise And you remember everything Only 'til the Sun recedes once again And the night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The whites of your eyes Turn black in the low light In turning divine We tangle endlessly Like lovers entwined I know for the last time You will not be mine So give me the night, the night, the night The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven The night comes down like heaven (The whites of your eyes) The night comes down like heaven (Turn black in the low light) The night comes down like heaven (In turning divine) The night comes down like heaven (We tangle endlessly).
Coming back to this song after Euclid just fucked me up for the millionth time. This journey has been special, more special than any other piece of music I’ve listened to in my time on this planet, thank you Sleep Token. You are the band a lot of us didn’t know we needed, whatever is coming for the future I will support, this trilogy has been the best musical trip I’ve ever experienced. Forever Worship.
TMBTE really turned sleep tokens discography into a concept trilogy. Its a very special moment in time so see this band and thier music create such an amazing soundscape. From One to Euclid. They've never missed.
I lost my Dad to Dementia just last May. I was with him right to the very end of this wretched fucking blight on mankind. I stood with him at the threshold where he passed away in my arms. You can never come back from that. This song hits hard. Love ya Pops.
My dad passed in 2020 from Alzheimer's, but I couldn't visit him in hospice because of the pandemic. He had been in a nursing home since 2014. The pain doesn't get easier. I'm sorry that you know it too.
You were with him to the end. What else could you have done... please don't live in anger, make your dad proud by living a fantastic life filled with happiness and prosperity.
I discovered this band a few days ago and saw a comment like "Sleep Token is the hardest thing to describe to anyone". I completely and utterly agree. It's vibe when you're listening these masterpieces
For the people who don't understand how music can heal you, hasn't heard something like this. I can't honestly explain it but I just feel love coming from this song and it's helping far more than I can put into words.
First time I heard the intro to this song I played it again on repeat for like five minutes, it’s beautiful and captures so much emotion in so few notes. Worship.
There's something hidden backwards at the very end of the track. It's a woman addressing a crowd and a tambourine shaking as they clap and cheer. It loops over and over on the left channel as the chords fade out, mixed under the piano/synth.
I don't know if it counts, but when I was writing the ending of my book, i was listening to this. It made it easier for me writing such a heartbreaking ending 😅
Oh but it does and will. There's always something new that will come along. This may become a one of a kind song but there's always something to thrill people.
It’s been a bit of a rough month for me-I lost my job that I really loved at the end of last month. I’ve handled it pretty well and have managed to mostly keep it together, not really even crying about it. I just discovered Sleep Token a little over a week ago, and TMBTE totally blew me away. I’ve finally picked my jaw up off the floor enough to start making my way through their discography. This morning I started listening to this song and for whatever reason, this was what did it for me and I just broke down crying. Not even necessarily a sad crying; this song is just so beautiful and it makes me feel peaceful and like everything is going to be okay. Thank you. I really needed this right now, and being able to get lost in this music has been such a wonderful escape. So glad I discovered this band. 💜
id just have to say thank you. ever since my father passed ive felt..wrong...theirs just something about your music that makes me feel..better..something about it that actually makes me feel alive again..its like breathing for the first time in a long time..thank you..
Whoever made this visual montage included images of the 110 and I took that personally. Good work picking the oldest LA fwy (most evident at its exits); the atrium of the city of angels, with the most famed lore in the history of the city’s passages, old and recent. The lore of sleep token now adds to it…the 110 has never been the same since.
I don't what it is but listening to this alongside the visualizer feels like I'm hearing this for the first time. I got chills. Again. Easily the best band I've ever listened to hands down. Worship.
Very late to the party on this one. But, one of my favourite singers played this song on a takeover they did on Primordial Radio today. As soon as the opening notes kicked in, I was transfixed, literally stopped what I was doing and listened. This is hauntingly beautiful, you just gained a new fan
These guys are definately going to end up in canada some day, truly amazing music. Everything has its own job with sleep token, i read somewhere they were called the masters of melody, and that was only their first album!
Found out about this band with this album about 3 months ago. I'm listening to it on repeat ever since Listening to it just does not get old It's so beautiful, it makes my heart sing
This song puts me to a comforting sleep. And that’s a compliment! Their music is so melodic and full of emotion, each song covering a different part of the spectrum and I adore the hell out of it.
@@matthewturner2205 Could be the end of the trilogy. Not necessarily the end of the band. Euclid literally means clone so maybe there is something else in the works.
My tears are a badge of strength Watching my grandmothers personality become obliterated, from sundowning to late stage dementia.. this music gave me solace. I die and am reborn again
When I first found out about Sleep Token with this song, I knew they'd get big one day. They're not the only ones mixing genres, but they're doing it quite differently with an almost worship music / minimalist approach with metal and other styles.
My most played song of the year baby!!! Just saw my Spotify yearly wrap up haha! Loved you guys in Chicago last weekend. Please come back/come to Milwaukee.
of all their songs, this intro/outro melody has been the one that has repeatedly been stuck in my head. i absolutely love sleep token and Leo's voice! oops, i mean Vessel🎉😅
The vocoder parts are nothing short of perfection, the ambience that builds up along the way, the laughing in the back was an amazing touch to add an atmosphere and human element
How awesome would it be if instead of releasing a visualizer for The Offering in 2 weeks, it’s a full on music video. I mean it is their most listened to song according to Spotify plays and UA-cam views.....
Things have come a long way from periphery piano covers. Vessel's music is one of the few things that has progressed this much (let alone regressed, as is often the case) in the last decade.
I’m so happy I came across your music. I have listened to every song on repeat since. This music is truly a masterpiece. It is intense, emotional, and moving. So many people worship all these rappers and other “artists” who don’t even write their own lyrics or create their own sound. I hope one day people to start appreciating actual music talent. I wish big things for you. 💖

Not just the trilogy but One and Two as well as their singles are some of their best work!
Nothing like blasting this song with a bluetooth speaker in an empty field at 3am during a starry night with the moon out 💕

I'm not ashamed to admit I cried to this
Me too, my friend. It just hit me. Just sitting at my desk doing some emails, this song plays and boom.
I've listened to alot of music, and this is the only band that has songs that made me emotional.
You are Not alone brotha! Heres a hug

I won't rest until I see this used as the intro to a film. The raw power it has, even from the first few notes.
Or even at the end of a film…! The beginning of the song would lead up to the end and the chorus would give way to the final “the end” closing
