It's because of the sadness they've experienced they appreciate the good times more. John was obviously, and might still be depressed.
@@edboggo5488 this is a ridiculous statement. To have the audacity to declare someone depressed based on a youtube video? You've got to be kidding me. As none of us knew John at this stage in his life I suggest we not speculate on his mental health
John was an entirely different place than the rest of the band was at this time, and this was after his dark period. He wasn't self destructive anymore, and he appreciated life in an entirely different way. Still, with the trauma of his heroine addiction, that nearly killed him, his brain wasn't fully recovered. The man heard voices, or what he called "ghosts" inside his head for Christ's sake. There is no recovering from fighting demons the way he did. I didn't want to jump to conclusions that he's depressed because he seemed happy, im sorry it came off that way. However, throughout his discographies, old and new he still gets sad themes expressed. That's simply because you don't recover from horrors like that.
I love John more than i can say, and if not for his sad, but yet beautiful energy, he wouldn't have made the amazing art he has to this day.
And something that truly makes my day is the fact that John is more social now than he's been for quite some time, and he seems like he's really comfortable in his own skin.
Sorry for all the text i just really enjoy talking about John.

I remember John admitting in a Stadium Arcadium interview that he didn't really know the lyrics of most RHCP songs. It was when he was asked about backing vocals. So it's reasonable that he didn't know 'Quixotic Elixir' when AK mentioned it in this interview, but I bet he knows the music, just not the title or the lyrics. He said in this interview "Not lyrically". I discovered RHCP music after John left the 2nd time. I'm so glad I'll get to see them play together again, now that John's back.

John said be remembered the song lyrically, not the other way around. I kinda wonder if he was just being nice when he said it, too, given Anthony seemed pretty attached to it here and in his book. Nice song that was at least worthy of B-side status.
The stuff John brought up on getting "rejected" on one of your ideas and getting compliments for other ideas is so authentic, man. I never hear any other bands talking about that.

There’s a big difference in John in this interview to how he was after Stadium Arcadium. He sounds really up for it here whereas a few years later he’s quite surly and grumpy in interviews.

Aww John seemed to be willing to go at it for another 10-20 years. I really wish that was the case. But as he said, they would have to keep that same energy and support and that's not easy to do. I'm just glad to see that john was willing. Sending love to you john

for sure u can say that flea and anthony(in his own way) have the gift, but john always was the missing piece. Thats why BSSM and Californication are so outstanding. btw, I have nothing against chad, he is a cool guy, but "just" a drummer.

Anthony K. is the worst singer / vocalist in rock history from maybe the worst gen. of music. The 90's.
no... he has 1 sound, but it's recognizable and not annoying at all, the lyrics are creative and sticky, the vocal melodies also. He cant really keep tone well live but since he has been using in-ears that's massively improved.
