RHCP was my favorite band when I was a kid since like age 8 or 9, but in HS I worshipped Kurt Cobain and Bradley Nowell and Layne Staley and went through my own almost death and when I was using as an adult John Frusciante's music and the way he survived and came out intact and talented as ever meant so much to me and helped me hold on. one of my favorite things Anthony says in his book is every time he recounts the different periods of difficult times in the band he says (paraphrasing) "I was being such and such way, John was being this way, Flea was being that way, and Chad was Chad."
I actually gasped hearing John say Troy New York. My mom & grandma's hometown, where my grandparents lived for decades before they passed. Totally not expecting something so familiar to come out of his mouth! [Found this interview again after seeing it mentioned in a live recording from the Houston Field House]
Finally read Scar Tissue Anthony memoir...read it!! looking frwd to next year tour with John Back ..last time seen Chili's live with john was Mothers Milk tour LBC Circa 89,Chilis are red hot with John !
John & Tony Flow are being very patient and generous to answer the best they could to questions that often comes from a very negative angle. "You need 4 years to make a brand new album" c'mon guy! You can see Anthony twitching at that point , with reason 😄. John has the best come back though "the recording took 3 weeks, that's very quick you know." That and "In the future we'll try to put out a record everyday" 🤣 I love this band so much!
It’s because there’s a huge language barrier. Obviously the questions don’t really translate as well. They’ve done a ton of interviews with this guy over the years, so clearly they aren’t unhappy with his questions.
God damn I love John Frusciante. He's been my role model since 1989. What a disaster 🤣 Seriously this man is so full of love...just naive af but still a beautiful soul who sees beauty everywhere and in everyone. We should all be so lucky to have friends like these
Hey he was no disaster and not naive. Communication is difficult for intuitive introverts. Very easily misinterpreted. It’s his failure to communicate, not the endless character defects unjustly ascribed to people like him (and me).
Just a few years before this John was almost dead. His teeth had rotted, he was skeleton thin, had barely any blood , and abscesses all over his body. It’s amazing that he was able to come out of that state.
in this interview here he is still high on something. Look up cureent interviews from the past two years and see and hear the difference. He is not clean here
@REALCrazyCriticat one point he had about 1/12th the amount of HEALTHY blood that a healthy person is supposed to have. The original commenter may have just been confused about that distinction. Still incredibly fucking dangerous
@@TheStarBlackit’s okay to admit that the dude was extremely out of it at this point in his life. The brain takes a lot of time to heal, and he had pushed his body and mind to the limit with his drug use. This interview is really not that far removed from the time he got sober. He still had a lot of mental hurdles to get through to get to the point he’s at today. Point being, yes he has meaningful ideas, but he was indeed babbling quite a bit during this video while trying to communicate them lol.

What a beautiful interview, and a great story of reconciliation. Chad not wanting drums on Road Trippin'...now that's a sign of a good drummer/ear...knowing when they're not even needed. Think I'm gon a play road trippin now 😆
John and your red shirts ❤️
John in Fiesta Red
2:53 I live 20 mins from Troy, weird hearing it be named in this iconic interview.
My favorite band.
Here because was watching Troy, New York 1991 and someone mentioned this interview how John mentions that concert...
We are all waiting for you John ❤️
John is perfect!
yes! absolute perfection! 💖
Well nobody's perfect. But yes, he's perfect.😌
@@GunsNArnolds his weird way is totally perfect
@@meredithr9824 well, nobody, maybe just him hahahaha
fax like all pisces!
I freaking love John 🤣
This interview is gold.
one of my favorite things Anthony says in his book is every time he recounts the different periods of difficult times in the band he says (paraphrasing) "I was being such and such way, John was being this way, Flea was being that way, and Chad was Chad."
Lol the interviewer asking if they felt proud listening to All Saint's cover Under The Bridge.
Always healthy ,daddy John...i love you..🤗🙏😘😘😍 God Bless You 😇😇😇
I actually gasped hearing John say Troy New York. My mom & grandma's hometown, where my grandparents lived for decades before they passed. Totally not expecting something so familiar to come out of his mouth! [Found this interview again after seeing it mentioned in a live recording from the Houston Field House]
Love this interview. They were so honest and raw. The last question was funny though.
The interviewer may be referencing the fact that there was roughly a four year gap between BSSM and OHM and again for Californication.
i thank the universe everyday that john did not leave this earth during his dark times. he was rlly destined to elevate rhcp in such a beautiful way
God damn I love John Frusciante.
My God, Anthony is beautiful ❤
John is one of the greatest guitarist in the world...happy is living
What a sweet interview
Just a few years before this John was almost dead. His teeth had rotted, he was skeleton thin, had barely any blood , and abscesses all over his body. It’s amazing that he was able to come out of that state.
in this interview here he is still high on something. Look up cureent interviews from the past two years and see and hear the difference. He is not clean here
@REALCrazyCriticat one point he had about 1/12th the amount of HEALTHY blood that a healthy person is supposed to have.
The original commenter may have just been confused about that distinction. Still incredibly fucking dangerous
John is so beautiful here 💖💖💖
‘99 look is my fav!!! Always sexy or adorable 😆
He looks adorable
John Is So Beautiful ❤
The way Anthony listens to John as he bable on....
yes - like a nurse with a psych patient
John's got a lot of wisdom and insight. The problem is with you if you feel confused.
Anthony keeps taking such deep breaths hahaha. It looks like torture for him. And no doubt that would be a tough conversation to have, much less with a camera in your face. Props to him for riding it out and being patient. A younger version of himself might have been more aggressive or agitated (I know I would have been when I was younger if a journalist had been pressing us like that).
dude.. this is cool! anthony in 99' without the bleach blond hair!
12:15 that song is a very sad song (they both giggle) 😍
Gotta love that cut for the ads.
13:24 that laugh was so cute lol
ikr he's adorable
21:50 too lol
@@mackenziek8383 thanks for the recs lol
😭
It’s great he found his way back.
Thx so much for share @Cenitri !
Really great time...period, (I just love this John) But damn, those themes
The spell of "Lust and L-O-S-S xd
& Flea's uncomfortable feels between rich people lol
John was in a really good mood here. He also recovered mentally fairly quickly, it was good to see him like that, laughing pleasantly;
Thank God! Can't wait the new album!!! 🙏🏻💯🎸🌶️✌🏻
john is such a baby🥹
They are so cute :D. Like two kids escaped from home and sneak into a tv studio :)
Loved John in The Young Ones...
under the bridge is 4 minutes and 27 seconds long though
he'd been away from the band for a while lol he's allowed to be wrong
Lolllll
Yeah I was like wtf is he talking about 2mins
Keidis was like really? I had no idea
Damn dude. You're putting all the chili pepper content in one spot. Wonder if your channel will get more popular when the new album releases
5/6/22 let's go.
Johnthony
Damn. Watch and listen to Frusciante in any new interview vs him here. Comes off like almost a completely different person.
I feel like some of the things John said at the beginning about leaving the band was the first time Anthony was hearing it.
