I use the old Black Rapid Sport strap and it is possible (though fiddly) to remove the underarm strap - I used a small flat-blade screwdriver to ease it out of the slots and it works fine for me.
Very, very good with you without being "preachy" or a sales spokesman.I love the video. The one thing that blackrapid should have done after all of these years is redesigned that Brad strap go under the other arm. Currently, it wrinkles the crap out of my suit when I'm shooting at a wedding and slipped off my suit.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that and I'm glad I came across that way :) It would definitely be interesting to see the Brad developed a bit more, I'd be curious to see how different designs could work.
To be honest, not a whole lot. From what I can tell it's basically down to minor differences in the pad shape. If you're lucky enough to be near a store where you can check them out in person I'd recommend going and trying them both on to see which fits your body type better, but if not I'd say you're probably safe with either one since it is pretty minor.
Hi Very useful review. I have a D3300 with a 18-300 lens, quite heavy. When I travel, many days I have the camera on me for hours, especially while trekking. So I need a strap that will keep the weight off my neck. At the moment I have a BR street breathe which I use in sling mode, I like the attachment method but it’s not comfortable for my camera, apparently it’s suited for lighter weights. Also, it keeps slipping off my shoulder when I pick up the camera to shoot or when trekking (uneven movement). I’ve been researching this strap vs the PD slide. Re the Brad strap, does it chafe under the arm? Is it comfortable? I saw a review where it was actually connected under the left arm, the reviewer claimed it works better. Thanks.
Hi! Yeah the street breathe would be a little uncomfortable with that setup I expect. I have both this and the PD Slide... the PD slide is a good strap too but I think BR strap would be much more comfortable, and with the brad strap it will stay in place very well. I didn't find it uncomfortable personally, but it might depend on your body type/build... possibly even what clothes you're wearing. Hope that helps! :)
Thanks, Scott. I saw the strap today, the underarm strap looks problematic: The grey part is held by a larger than necessary hole in a plastic? patch, so a) it’s very likely it’ll drop off without warning and b) it’s also very likely that the plastic piece might get torn if the strap is pulled forcefully. What is your experience?
The grey part is metal and very robust, and the part with the hole for it to hook through is actually pretty solid as well... it's not a load bearing part so I've never felt any real amount of stress on it... it simply holds the strap from sliding when you move the camera and the weight of the strap is all put on the top shoulder pad part. I've never worried about it at all and Blackrapid does also have very good afterservice IF anything starts to wear out.. either that or another part, over time. I don't think I'd hesitate because of it. The hole is a little big and I thought it might fall out at first too, but it doesn't really (never, in my use). Either way- it's non load bearing so in the worst case scenario if it fell out nothing very bad would happen. Hope that helps
They do have both a left and right version, but due to the curvature it's not really interchangeable (you'd have to choose one or the other from the start). Their cross shot strap is not quite as padded but can be used on either shoulder.
When holding it in your hands, yes it does seem to come loose easily. But, when actually wearing it I've never once had it come off in years of use even on long days, under a jacket etc. I don't think it's anything you'd need to worry about, at least from my personal experience.
All the detail I needed to confirm my selection before buying. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching! :)
3:33-3:45 such a simple, yet so effective of a demonstration! I have this new BR sport strap and love it. It’s a very well thought out design.
Haha, glad you appreciated that! :) Also glad you love the strap as much as I do :)

can I attach binocs?
Clear!
How des this compare to the curve breathe?

Can you recommend an alternative underarm strap?

I’ve read many reviews that say the metal clip of the BRAD strap comes off way too easily. Have you noticed that?
