- In this video I demonstrate how to give a newborn a bath in the hospital. Bath time can be a great opportunity for educating the parents on normal/abnormal newborn characteristics, its also great bonding time for them and helps the nurse in establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patients.
Follow along and study by answering these questions.
1. What temperature does baby need to be to get a bath?
2. How long should we ideally wait to do a newborn bath?
3. What are the two ways we can take baby's foot prints?
4. Where are the 3 places vernix likes to hide?
5. Why do we do the head last?
6. Why can't we just hold them under a sink of running water?

Thermoregulation is a new concept for the newborn. Our goal as nurses is to maintain a neutral thermal environment, which is why we do the bath this way. I hope this video is helpful, any questions or comments let me know. :)
That was informative Tnx ❤️
always wet the cloth before adding soap to it so that the water does not get soapy.
Nice
Wow! I’ve learned a lot 😍 Very informative
These videos are super informative! Thanks for sharing!
Would you wear gloves to give them their 1st bath? since you’re touching the baby with vernix, potentially blood? Thanks for your videos! I have my 1st OB clinical tomorrow so I’m tyring to familiarize with all the skills :)
