  • I painted my deck with deckcorrect and the accompanying stain for the other surfaces. This is after a northeast winter and most of a summer. I think it held up well. I also think better prep simply with a higher pressure washer and turbo nozzle would be the key. Also, no filler.

Thank you for these videos I’m trying to figure out if I should use this deck correct on a brand new deck that I just built. I’m still doing research.

I just put deck correct on my deck. Only been a week but so far so good. My only complaint is their booklet with colors doesn't match the real world applied colors accurately. They're all about 2 shades different

Thanks for posting this! I watched it right after watching your original application video. I'm looking to use DeckCorrect for my older deck (at least 15 and likely 25+ years old). Mine has wider cracks in the boards than yours in some areas - I may apply some wood filler to those in advance.
Question - I have a much larger deck (probably 3 times the size of yours I'm guessing) and more vertical rails and also a "bench" made of decking that spans a good part of it in place of a railing. That wood is all heavily weathered/cracked as well so I was hoping to use DeckCorrect for everything including the verticals. Does it drip/dibble down too much when applied to vertical surfaces? Would you recommend using on vertical surfaces?

I would suggest it for anything you ask about. Like I said though, prep is key. A pressure washer may appear to do damage but getting rid of dried out rotten wood is important. If you use any filler be sure it's for outdoor use. I'd recommend no fillers just multiple coats of the product. Thanks for watching.

@@spudth thanks. I wound up going with the Cabot Solid Stain and Sealer for the vertical parts and railings. I was surprised to see that the DeckCorrect is not *that* much thicker - it's very similar to the solid stain+sealer that Cabot sells in terms of thickness. I completed the large upper deck this past week and am thrilled with the results. I went with the "New Cedar" color and it is a bit more yellow/bright than expected in sunlight but it still looks great. One thing I learned is that there was NO way that a roller was going to work for this stain on my deck. My boards were just too damaged. I tried 3/8 at first and then 1/2" nap but quickly threw those out and just bought a deck brush that I could screw into a pole. I am convinced that's the best way to apply this stain to ensure getting it into all of the cracks etc.

@@LearnAtMyExpense I agree. You can use this to extend the life of your deck provided the boards still bear weight. The regular deck correct seems to have better adhesion than the stain but great adhesion really depends on prep and removing the "oxidized" wood.

Is that from one coat or two?

Two. Its been a year but pretty sure it's the instructions on the can. I will be touching up this fall if I get time. My cat has passed so her damage will get repaired as will the spots I tried to use a bad filler.
