We all know that Orange amps kill everything in sight with its distortion, still everybody does Orange reviews with full distortion on like it's a big suprise. You're showing its clean side, which is what i always wonder about these amps cause i don't always play full metal. I like playing blues and hard rock as well! Thanks a lot for a perfect demo!
Every time I've ever gone into a music store I always sit and plug into an Orange amp and go "oh well these always sound good so it's a good place to check"... never once did I think about buying until now -_- I'm sorry Orange.
PROS & CONS For what we have noticed the pros are: - Easy to carry , in a bag along with a pedalboard and cables. - Really affordable. - Loud enough to play with a drummer in a small club. - Good overdriven sound. - Nice EFX blending with the send/return option cons: - It might possibility lacks for a good clean tone - Low volume for a clean tone - Low volume for a complete metal band Unless the cab will be miked.
Really is a great little amp I let my brothers kid borrow it with my orange 1x15 for her bass. I do miss it but now I have a good excuse to get the new orange stamp.😂
Wow always wanted to hear an orange play what originally was on a mesa or Marshall with a single coil that was originally played with a humbucker…nailed it!!!!!! 😂
Really nice review. I'm using the Micro Dark in a 1953 Gibson GA-50 cabinet (1-12" Jensen and 1-8" Jensen) while I decide if I want to invest in refurbishing the original electronics. Nice to have the vintage look and expected clean sound with the option to dial in crunch if desired. And there's enough room left over inside the cabinet for a couple of six packs. This head its tiny!
God damn i just love Heart-Shaped Box so much. Thanks for the demo, i read that some people think the micro sounds sterile. For the moment i need an amp that works well with pedals, did you try the micro with pedals in the fx loop?
Can you plug the effects loop out into something like an audio interface or Engl Cabloader without the amp needing to be plugged into a speaker cabinet? Just wondering if it has a load box like an Ampeg Portaflex head (for bass)
Dumb question i'm sure but - the riffs played during the unboxing and displaying of the info about the amp, is that the amp? Cause if so that is awesome.
If I direct recording from headphone jack, do i still need to plug the speaker output to a cab? I have asked a store which sell this amp, they said even you plug the headphone jack, the speaker output still need plug to a cab because there is electricity on it or you may broke the amp. Is it true?
This is a good question, well since this amp is not a pure valve amp, meaning that there is not an output transformer and power-out tubes that need to unleash power otherwise it could get hot and overload, I think it could be played also without a cab But to be 100% safe you could arrange a 1/4 jack with a “dummy load” 16ohm 20watt resistor soldered on ... and you should be ok EDIT: from the manual, If the Phones jack is not in use, a suitable speaker cabinet must be connected at all times during use.
Is there a way to have this amp playing along with mp3 or aux in? For home practice? I mean, maybe an audio jack adaptor with phones or something??? Thank you so much. Nice video
I would argue its loud enough to gig with, in fact if you did decide to head that route with this head I'd hide it behind the Prop Amplfier head and then if a guitarist comes up to compliment you tell them you were using the micro dark instead of your big long amp head! I'm buying one for my birthday, as a fun amp to play with when I visit my buddy.
I notice a theme. When reviewers get into the electronic technical side of the product you can expect substandard playing for the musical portion. Which I feel this review had. Metal for the metal amp blues for the blues amp. Solos for every amp. And some type of crossover. Will this blues amp play metal? And vice versa.
How does this sound through headphones? I know you can’t really do a video demo on that and I’ve seen people use the headphone jack for recording but tbh it sounds pretty bad
Metal Zone in the FX loop is a good one. Chorus in the front. Question: when you hit the strings with a pick… even at low, low gain… do you hear it start to clip? Or its my fucking Les Paul?!
MobileDecay if you expect this to sound like a full sized tube amp, of course is not going to, but for the price and size you can get great tone, and if you add pedals and use it with a proper 4x12 cab , and also a good guitar, a lot of people think they are going to make a shit guitar with a extra shit cab sound good when adding this....and the tone never translates well in a video no matter what amp you use. All that said if you don't like it you don't like it........
MobileDecay that’s what I literally just said... I am not disagreeing with you.. I just stated that maybe you are expecting that amp to sound like a much bigger much more expensive one...you can dislike it all you want I couldn’t care less...

That’s because everyone associates Orange with metal. Slip knot and the lot.
Do you believe we Need a pedal for hard rock as ACDC OR GUNS N ROSES?i have this and i use a Plexi pedal Carl martin

This is one of the best demo's I've ever seen ....Very good job....Wish everyone had to see this before they made one!
I’ve had one for a couple years now and it really sounds good when you hit the front of the amp with a tube screamer style pedal.
Others pedal works great you know?
This video should be the stardard for reviews on UA-cam! He basically did everything I would like to do if I was trying this amp! Great job!
Great to show us what's inside as well. That's what I call a good and complete review of an amp!
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new comment
Forever in debt to your priceless demo
I've watched a few UA-cam demos of this amp. This is definitely way better than any others. Great job
This is one of the most helpful demos of any amp ive seen tbh

Or it can go straight into a p.a. with the fx send lol i do it all the time when its not loud enough lol
You can also take a lead out from the headphone socket as well because it doesn’t mute the speaker when headphones are plugged in.
Why is not myted the speaker?and can i use only the head withoyrlt load a box for avoid tò break It?
Great review, I really appreciate the in-depth specs of the controller chip and the pin-out.
Agree with the comments. This was one of the most helpful and practical amp reviews I’ve seen. Thanks!

Orange micro dark i love mine. I also did a review on it. Channel is under cristee cooper.

I think the Fx Loop is just perfect with single pedals... also with a pedalboard you can set your clean volume as high as you want
It takes pedals like a dream straight in the front haven’t tried the Fx loop just yet but I suspect more of the same
Proper review! Cheers!
Great little demo. Covered it all with no endless yapping ( unlike some)
Not going to lie I already have had this amplifier for months, but I'm going to this video try and get the best tone for recording I can out of it.

Like heart shape box 👏👏👏♥️
After hearing this video
I've changed my mine to buy a micro terror. The distortion is unusable. Thank u

Sounds so good. I've yet to find a proper cab for mine.
Not bad, a bit too dark sounding with the hs3, but those dimarzios are already dark sounding.
much interessant
still obssessed

you should try with an audio jack adapter at the Return 1/4 jack input (Fx loop section)
Redbunker ok thank you so much
What does It mean these message Sorry? You wanted tò listen tò the MP3 from the cabinet?
Is that any specific song at 3:24 I dig it I wanna learn it
Amp isn't bad but I suggest buying an overdrive pedal and using with this
Micro Dark with an Orange 1 x 12” cab with a Digitech “BadMonkey” tube overdrive pedal; Game OVER!#🎸🤘🏻🔥#OrangeAmplification
@@bondalero0074 hey thats my setup
How'd you record it? Yours hiss?
Can i use a a attenuator ?
Dude, you gotta review more gear the way you did this lil amp. Well done.
So I really dont know much about stack amps, if I play this through a 2x12 or a 4×12 would it work fine? And if it does is it loud enough to gig with?
I would argue its loud enough to gig with, in fact if you did decide to head that route with this head I'd hide it behind the Prop Amplfier head and then if a guitarist comes up to compliment you tell them you were using the micro dark instead of your big long amp head!

Yes I saw Stephan Carpenter (deftones) play the micro terror thru a orange 4 x 12 cab and literally blew down the house
Where do these few thumbs downs come from? I don't get it.
Thanks for the good video!
WHAT IS THAT Song in the beginning ???? omg....NAKARADA ??? worship...
Why is the first thing you do, to destroy your warranty?
thx dude

@@zmb5501 was that with a cab sim or straight out? It would sound terrible straight out as it doesn't have a built in sim

I had one of those and sounded awesome with headphones. way better than through my 1x12 cab.
