This is crazy! Just came across your video. I've been making pickle hot sauce for years. My son takes it in a shot glass. I use Piquin, my own spicey garlic pickles and brine. I highly recommend your viewers try this recipe and remember that if habanero is too much, use a chili of your choice.
I like your piquin idea! I had an off year for my pepper plants but usually grown piquins, so will have to try next go around. Thanks for watching and leaving the comment!
I love hearing it, Kris! Thanks for circling back to share your feedback. I feel like this recipe should be much more popular, especially for all the pickle lovers out there.
This sounds wonderful. I love dill pickles and adding that flavor to hot sauce sounds very interesting. I'll be using homemade dill pickles and I'll for sure throw in some hotter peppers, but I think I'll go a little a bit milder than you did. I'm not as young as I used to be and the hotter stuff is getting harder to handle. But I'll go as hot as I can for as long as I can.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s all about finding your heat level instead of choking your way through something someone else tells you is tolerable. Beyond the heat, this sauce is delicious if you like pickle flavored things. I’ve been using it on chicken like a madman. Thanks for checking in! Hope all is well on your end and please report back if you give it a try.
Keeping my word is something I take very seriously. Therefore, here I am on my personal acct watching this video. This is a really neat idea. I've seen everything from Valentina, nopales/habenero, chipotle, grapefruit, garlic based sauces, to yuzu lemon. But pickled-based is something completely new to me. Cheers ma8
You’re a stand up guy! Thanks so much for circling back. If you end up making it, report back. I’ve only heard positive feedback from those who tried it (and like pickles).
I tried a pickled hot sauce at a Mexican restaurant and was hooked. Fish tacos with this on it will blow your mind. The one I had was made with smoked habaneros so it had another element to it
First of all: Awesome, and thank you for making this video! I have a question though, what pepper would you recommend (that I could find at your average DFW grocery store) that I can use to ramp up the heat but doesn't add a lot of its own flavor? Like habaneros are pretty fruity, what would you recommend to keep it as "pickley" as possible? Thanks Drew!
The HEB by me often has Serrano peppers. That would be a small step up from jalapeño and doesn’t vary too much flavor to throw off the recipe. If not that, I also sometimes see Thai Chilis every so often. Would work as well. Thanks for asking, Jake!
Pickles and pepper do tickle my flavor pallet. I love the taste of habeneros but they to hot most of the time. I do want to ask you where do you get your hot sauce bottles?
You’re welcome to sub any peppers you think mat he’s your heat level. I’d start with jalapeños. My hot sauce bottles can be found on the pinned comment above. Follow the link and it’ll take you to my Amazon storefront where they’re listed. I do candy my peppers and have an ancient video on my channel where I candy ghost peppers if you’re looking for a reference. Great questions!! Thanks for swinging by.
@withouta315 any time! It always drove me crazy when I asked channels for help and they didn’t answer, so I try my best to help where I can. Thanks for spreading the word!!
