the Rumour are one of the finest band to come out in 80's musical trail...and obviously Graham Parker...he's a Sam Cooke with a British twist! stellar!
Brinsley and Martin Belmont were a killer guitar combo. While BS played the lead most often, MB was no slouch and sometimes handled the solos. Sadly GP dumped the Rumour after this album, chasing stardom for a few flaccid albums. Saw him the next year with the next collection of musicians. Best material wasn't the new stuff.
@@robertdilullo6765 That's a great comment. Graham Parker,Joe Jackson, and Elvis Costello through'82 were so good that there are no adequate words to describe them. Who the hell has even come close musically, and lyrically? The only other one who started at that time since is Paul Weller, that has at least 10 albums of great stuff. I think Beck is terrific, a musical genius, yet he doesn't come within a country mile as an equal songwriter.
Apparently GP parted ways with the -Runour after this album because they were butchering his songs. Wow. Really the best band ever. None of his other groups came close to what he achieved with them.
How could anyone see this awesome band and hear these great songs and watch the compelling presence of Graham Parker and not make it huge? Could it have been the flat production Jimmy Iovine gave the Up Escalator Album? I think it had at least a little to do with it. Or maybe his American record company just didn't quite know what to do with him. Either way, this is great music.
Brinsley at his finest. Graham never sounded better. Killer track from a great band. RRHF material
Incendiary performance, incredible musicianship, enduring quality.
What a band. Brin is just F**king KILLING it ! GP never sounded better. Tell me you have seen a better live performance and I will call you a liar !

Pure rock’n’roll genius!
Should be 18 million views!!!!
Antithetical to the whole concept of "pop star". Incredible song.
I love Graham Parker ... one of my favorite artists of all time... and here hs is... in his prime.. awesome..
What a great friggin song
Love his music, energy, tonality, edge, on and on....you get it, right?
GRAHAM AT HIS PUNKIEST AND THE RUMOUR ARE SETTING THE WOODS ON FIRE LIVE WITH THIS GREAT LIVE TRACK!!! FROM 1980 FRIDAYS TV ABC LATE NIGHT!!
Sensational rendition. Graham Parker we love you.

What a freakin talent
One of the greatest artists of our time!
I saw that when it first aired in 1980. The other song they sung was Stupefaction. He also participated in a skit.
The ultimate band and frontman at their best
I love the lyrics
Bring me water bring me cocaine bring me something lethal that doesn’t leave a stain but please don’t make me feel that emptiness again
Hot damn, this band is smokin’! I ❤ Graham
Awesome performance
GP is criminally underrated.
It may be a felony.

Rocknroll!
By the way...Pretty sure it's the Roku (Shout TV) that are all 3 seasons of this show. I was watching a few days ago for free.

Nicky on piano 🎹...
I’m reading his biography entitled “… and on piano, Nicky Hopkins”, authored by Julian Dawson.
What a career he had, although cut short.
Incendiary.
One of the best rock n roll bands there were at this time. Fridays was mediocre but for their choice of music.
Ça manque le talent par les temps qui court.
Bienvenue à G.Parker et empty full....
Too bad he never made it big in the US.
Yes..he's way too gut level honest to ever get much radio exposure. And smart ass critics call him sarcastic, how about consistently brilliant...
