Thankyou so much for your reaction! I probably should have mentioned in the description, the lid is taken off when I take photos. But it’s just a simple wooden framed lid to add extra height allowing for deeper substrate, whilst also providing a place to attach their 28cm wheel. 😁 The soil is coco fibre but yes, definitely important to ensure the soil used is safe for them. Thanks again!! 🙂🐾
I love cookieandthegerbils' enclosure! They do have a raised lid for it, you can see it on their Instagram ☺️ Ooh fun seeing Maya here too! Oreo and cookie are so sweet, I remember them from our pet of the week posts 🥰
Hey, I mentioned in a comment on an earlier vid that I was going to present to my parents all the reasons why I should get a pair of gerbils… well… THEY SAID YES!!! LITERALLY I AM SO EXCITED! I’m gonna get two boys and name then Kaito and Jiji. But there were 2 conditions (but I don’t mindm they aren’t a big deal). First off, my mom isn’t a fan of rodents, so she doesn’t have to do anything for the gerbils. And second, I have to keep my room clean (when summer started, it sort of fell into decay). So, I’ll be getting them in about a month! Thanks so much for all your content, it helped me figure out some of the things I should put into my cage and what I should feed them, etc., and also you saved my gerbils from being stuck in a 10-gallon tank. I’ll be getting a 40-gallon, all because of your awesome advice. Thank you for that. I already love you, Kai and Jiji, and I’m so excited to meet you!
Congratulations 🎉 I am so happy for you! I'm still working on my parents but I think I can get gerbs when we get a loft conversion as our room is small
5:41 Ah yes I once had a little problem with one of my gerbils cages that they were able to jump out One night my gerbil Soot(Sootbriar) jumped onto my bed. She came up to my face and kissed my nose so many times that I woke up😂 It's hopefully now fixed and those ladies can't get out
Happy 100th! Re: enclosure lids, I use a Zilla brand screen cover. They're marketed for reptile terrariums, but work great as aquarium lids too 😄 I also want to express my many thanks for something you said in an older video. Years ago I learned that the appropriate hay for gerbils was alfalfa, but gave it to my gerbils infrequently enough to where I didn't observe any noticeable effects. In the last year, I learned that they need more hay and so I upped the amount and frequency. For the last 6 months, my gerbil Oakley has struggled with eye issues (tear gunk and soreness). Even after 4 visits to a small mammal vet, eye drops, bedding changes, etc., we still hadn't found anything particularly effective. However! I recently learned from one of your videos that alfalfa hay is way too high in calcium for gerbils. After looking into the effects of that, I also learned that high amounts of calcium can build up deposits on the eyes, even in humans! So I immediately stopped giving my boys alfalfa, and now Oakley's condition has improved! His eyes are more open, there's way less mucus and I haven't seen his eyes sealed up again. He's not fully healed, and I suspect there are still some allergens or scarring that may never go away, but his quality of life has definitely been enhanced. So thank you from us both! (And his buddy Ash 🐹)
13:10 I got the two cages on facebook market, and merged them together by creating a hole in the top cage that leads down to the bottom. I also added a door that i am able to move out of the way so that it is easier to clean :)
One of my gerbils is sooo lazy , how can I get him to be active ? He doesn’t like a wheel , a running ball and compared to my other gerbil he doesn’t really make tunnels or run around the cage making a mess.He just likes eating and sleeping and can be quite grumpy .Any suggestions are appreciated!
Congratulations on your 100th video! I can't believe how long I have been watching your channel now almost since you started 😊 I love your cage reaction videos and I hope you can react to mine one day when I get gerbils 🐭 also, about the Gerri gerbil mix, it's not that good but it's basically the best you can get in the UK, that's probably why they are feeding them that 😟 I have searched for so long to find something better but can't find any. It's even hard to find ingredients for making a food mix, and so sad that we can't do better. They're not a popular pet so the companies don't care
@@bee0951 I made the design! It was my first attempt at embroidery, so I just made a very rough sketch. To be honest I appreciate your comments so much because I always felt it looked so bad because thread painting should be smoother. I actually took a course after that and now I achieved how it should be! As for my reference, I think it was Lemon but to be honest it just symbolizes all of them since they look the same ♥️
I use the Kaytee wheel (first wheel shown) and the plastic is quite thick. I would suggest it! Does anyone have any suggestions for good tank dividers?
@@thewritersalcove Hi, how do you secure the heavy tile slab, can it crush them if it falls? ( mine rearrange their bedding so fast, so it becomes so low in one area) That wouldn’t affect the slab ? Thanks
I’m struggling to tame my 2 gerbils they are in a large tank with 20 inches of beding but whenever I have gone near them or go close to there tank they run back into there beding. Any tips?
awh i think you misread my email a little i hope it doesn't impact too much of what you said 🥰 i was the first setup, the tank isn't a 40 gallon (i said my previous setup that didn't work out was a 40 gallon) it's a 10 gallon inside the enclosure (but the floorspace of the enclosure is still quite large) i got the enclosure at petsmart it was called the "chew proof loft" but im not sure if it was discontinued or not when petsmart rebranded their entire small animal line ❤️❤️
It’s clear they have lots of enrichment. The floor is covered with something, right? They can get bumblefoot walking on wired cages. Also maybe you could cover the bottom in bedding (put something over the sides to avoid too much spilling on your floor

Excellent! I took many pieces of advice for my three crazy gerbils Luna, Mía and.Shine :) :)
We match names!! 🥺♥️
you sound like somebody who would be knowledgeable about gerbils, this is meant to be a compliment
Great video!
For soil you could get coco fibre (cior) bricks normally found in the reptile section.
Will there be a part 2?
Congratulations!

You could try to introduce two younger ones ( if she’s willing to socialize with them). That way the two will still be left and bonded.
can gerbils be together?
