Uncle Knackers, I for one, has had lots of stored memories pop up to remind me of when I was a younger man & worked along side my Dad building & renovating houses. Thought I had forgotten a lot of the skills I had, but I think they have just been hiding. No where your skill set though. Lost my Dad at 23, then I went in another direction in my Life, & became a painter. In saying that I still like making sawdust & hammering nails, but only doing pint sized projects, hence why I’m watching your Channel, scoring ideas of what’s next. 🤔 Cheers 🍻🦘
zipperrrrr Yes mate, old school all the way!. I kind of had to do it that way due to the inevitable problems of blending into the old building. I'm really glad l did as l've come up with quite a few critical issues that wouldn't have been picked up if the frames were made purely from the plan on paper. Cheers
Always fun to see your videos. When I was growing up we built a couple of family homes and my dad used to say that was why he had five sons... Free labor. I have to say that once the walls start up it is going to look like a different world. Looking forward to the progress. Have a great day and update soon! Thom in San Diego
I am enjoying your building series, very interesting to see how you mates down under build homes! Next time I need to trim up frozen bacon I will remember your method on the chop saw!
I have the very same model DeWalt chopsaw - bought from a fellow who used it to frame a house then upgraded and sold me this one. Never framed a house but have handed a lot of lumber and tools to those that did. I got pretty good at anticipating their next needs.
That's great, you are branching off and having a culinary show as well. I have used a band saw in the butchery dept. but never a miter saw, Great tip :)
Great Video Shane. All the cut-offs that you have left could be used for some projects later on when you are finished, and that chicken slicer was a good un hope you got a drumstick off him ha ha. Take Care, Barry from England.
Barry Roberts Good idea re the offcuts Barry. Max has come good……he has just rigged up his own back yard smoker so he smoked the chicken and gave me the drummy as a sample. He's a good old bloke Max. Cheers mate
Another great and informative video. It is great to see how things are done down under, and the big fella is keeping the good weather for you too. The butchery part was a little weird, but hey if you had no complaints from Albert, what the hey! Well until the next one take care my colonial cousin from the pomme dog brewer ;)
keep em goin bud you made the hard look easy by explaining everything (not like some posters who just show what theyve done!) and tried your examples on a jobs ive done myself
David Bishop Thanks David. The blue timber is specifically designed to protect the timber frame from termite attack in areas south of the Tropic of Capricorn. Cheers mate
Adam R G'day Adam. The blue pine is specifically designed to protect the timber frame from termite attack in areas south of the Tropic of Capricorn. Cheers
Why are the studs green? Are they primered or bug proofed? Are termites a big problem down in your area? Great tip about keeping the upper and lower frames together.
mike smith G'day Mike. The blue timber is specifically designed to protect the timber frame from termite attack in areas south of the Tropic of Capricorn. Thanks for watching mate. Cheers
seems like it would just be easier and cheaper to avoid wood products altogether there in termiteland. by the color of that lumber, it looks like it could be smelted down into some pretty good-sized copper ingots if one wanted to try a hand at say, making electrical wire
Albert Kelly Thanks Albert….yeah the chicken was a classic!. It didn't bother old Maxy Boy. My overalls were covered in chicken as was my saw :-) Cheers mate
Are you obliged to use a contractor for the termite plastic? (And I'd recommend end dipping all wood that ends up near the ground. Use a combined insect/fungus formulae.)
smellysam You have a use a licensed contractor over here to install the protection as they need to issue a certificate stating that the work has ten done and has been done by a qualified tradesman. Thanks for the tip re dipping the timber. Cheers
It seems you need a contractor for everything down to changing light-bulbs in Oz.... Are you lot very clumsy or was the country at one time run by the AOCMA (Australian Overly Concerned Mums Association)? As for the dipping, just have a child's bucket with 3 to 5 cm of your favoured product and dip/brush anything that ain't blue. Not an obligation in Oz, but a good habit to have.
Hahahhahaha.....Max has a gut of iron. He's 88 and has lived on chop fat and 10 day old prawns (non refrigerated) so a little bit of Termite Pesticide won't hurt him 😂

Thanks Craig 👍 It's amazing what we store in the old noggin 😂
Right now this is the best builder series on youtube for my money.
Your timber supplier is a lot better than what we have down here in Victoria. Look at how straight that pine is. Bloody hell, fantastic.
+Gavan Darragh Gavan, l got the timber from Bunnings. I was really surprised as to how good it was.
+shaneconlan1 unbelievable.
Another ripper vid uncle knackers, thanks mate.

I know it was a long time ago but what kind of nail gun and nails did he use on the blue stuff into the concrete love your videos great work ❤
Nothing like a Sunday roast with a side of Copper chrome arsenic.
Hahahahahahah. Mmmnnnn..deliciouus 😁
What is that blue coating on the wood? Similar to the termite sheeting that went around the base?
Adam R G'day Adam. The blue pine is specifically designed to protect the timber frame from termite attack in areas south of the Tropic of Capricorn. Cheers
Hi Shane, Why is the timber green?
What is your wood coated with? I've never seen blue coating to protect the wood. Wow.
Project is looking good Uncle Knackers. Did Max bring you a drumstick?
Artie Bucco Thanks Artie! Yes he did mate…what a legend! :-)

I'd never get away with cutting a chicken like that. Wife would raise hell. Writing from the US Pacific Northwest here.
Lol i hope old Max gave the chook a good wash before he cooked it. I'd be a bit careful about any residue CCA residue prior to eating that bird.
Hahahhahaha.....Max has a gut of iron. He's 88 and has lived on chop fat and 10 day old prawns (non refrigerated) so a little bit of Termite Pesticide won't hurt him 😂
Shane how you going? A little off topic with this clip but I have a question for you, in all your building clips do you use an 18 gauge nail gun?
S Wilko Mate, the gun l use in all my pallet build videos is a 16 gauge bradder. Cheers
Thanks for getting back to me.
